ok ive played the pvp a fair bit and its an utter joke imo, heres why.
time to kill, (TTK) its stupid short. i can be killed in maybe 2 seconds by one persons burst. and in that time i,ll be CC'd so will get no chance to react in any way.. thats bad pvp. it's like a one shot in a shooter. nobody likes to be one shot continuously in those.
matchmaking = non existant. speaks for itself. basically you need the epic pvp artifact greater vorpal etc.. or well see the above point.
classes are utterly broken for pvp. i dont know how they think its even remotely reasonable, that a rogue can hold a node and prevent capping by using perma stealth. while doing so they can chip away at you with the ranged thing. untill the cooldowns on their big encounters finish and they can proceed to burst you down to death (see point 1 again)
in no other game would being able to stay invisible from combat till your cooldowns tick down so you can stunlock the next helpless vicitm be allowed for any rogue/thief archetype..
the maps are far too small and teams too small. makes the games mostly utterly one sided and then folk leave.
honestly those are major issues.. easily making this without a shadow of a doubt the worst pvp in any MMO i played, and that includes . WoW, warhammer, SWG , Rift, GW2, LOTRO, and Aion i,m sure the fan boys will pipe up to flame me,, but honestly id rather lose all day in fun pvp than win in HAMSTER pvp .
sounds like another fresh 60 with 20k hp getting smashed in a PvP match
Yes I agree it sucks when you have a <10k GS going up against someone who's 15K GS (let's hope they fix that with better match making soon). However, there are a lot of things you can do to enjoy PvP more.
Respec into a PvP spec with more survivability, you'll most likely do less damage, but that's the tradeoff.
Reroll a less squishier class, namely CW. CW's are the biggest target in current PvP, as they generally have low defense/hp, and pretty much no encounters to either health themselves or escape the heat of a battle (using Repel on tab is 1 option but doesn't work 100%)
When you have acquired some decent gear, and find a guild or some friends to get into a premade to go up against another premade, PvP can be very fun and enjoyable.
Have the gear and skills, but lack the friends to play with? Come and apply for Essence of Aggression. We have been here and strong since beta. (Immature, rude, and arrogant people will not be accepted)

I am almost inclined to think this is a troll post, because all of the things you have mentioned are EXACTLY what is being updated in the next module with respect to PvP.
New stat- Tenacity - Added to PvP gear. Comes with things like large damage resistance boost for all classes, and bonuses such as critical hit suppression, reducing the capability of burst damage. This is being implemented exactly for the reason to make fights much longer, and burst damage less viable.
Matchmaking - They noted that they are working on an Elo matchmaking system which will pair people up based on rank for even matches.
Healing is getting nerfed. This is partially a result of those invincible GWFs that you see able to hold points 1v5. They will become easier to kill. This means they are paying attention to and will be upgrading imbalances between classes/builds in PvP.
Reduced CC times/capabilities are becoming a part of PvP on this next module as well to prevent things like stun locking.
I've also heard from others that on a stream they mentioned they were working on adding new maps.

I think the OP's post has been written -- word for word, including the title -- about every MMO in existence. Certainly it's been written about every MMO I've ever played.

Just to clarify something, they actually haven't said anything about new maps or modes yet. So far it's just Tenacity and Healing Depression. For all we know that might be it, there may be nothing else... it'll HAMSTER me off to no end but it's a possibility.
The developers don't actually tell us what they're planning or ask for our opinions until it reaches the preview shard. So they "could" be making a new PvP mode right now, we wouldn't know if they were. Sad part is that they could be wasting those hours by putting in a new PvP mode that nobody wants to play, they'd never know until it hits the preview shard (many hours wasted up to that point).
I can understand the OP's frustrations, and I regret to inform him, it is time to find another game to play. As a long time PvP'er in MMO's when a game gets to a state of developers realizing how bad they f**ked up, and start to implement what they think are fixes, the PvP never gets the proper attention or fixes it needs. They band aid fix this and that and unfortunately are never able to fix the true issues without breaking many others. You can call me a pessimist if you like, but I have seen this exact scenario play out in so many games, it's not even funny anymore. In my youth, I would actually post some insight as to what really needs to be addressed, but unfortunately, I don't care anymore. Like the OP said, PvP in this game is HAMSTER at this point, you can either stay and watch the train wreck that is about to happen to the PvP aspect, or just move on to the next game.
It's really too bad developers don't actually understand what makes PvP so much fun. They are just too busy catering to the PvE crowd to waste their time and money on a smaller percentage of their player base. One of these days us Pvp'ers will get our game, it will be developed 100% by Pvp'ers for PvP'ers. Until then friends, keep up the hope, but please don't hold your breath!!! We will miss you when a good PvP game does hit the MMO world.

It's all about social networking baby! My in-game friend introduced me to Merlyn and Ice, we grouped up, and did some premade vs premade against guilds. Was fun and had a great time :-) Keelei still has the recording left on his stream if OP wants to check it out, or check out the Twitch Highlight for the week. You'll see tons of premade, qsnipe and random pvp videos. It seriously gets fun when you do pm vs pm.

AFAIC, there have been 3 MMOs which claimed to be developed by PvPers, for PvPers: Shadowbane, Darkfall Online, & Fallen Earth. I know that before they went live, both Shadowbane & Darkfall Online were heavily hyped as "the shiznit for the PVPbiznit yo!" but once they went live both games fell flat & have largely disappeared. Fallen Earth has already gone F2P due to lack of subscriber interest.
I don't know if Warhammer Online was supposedly developed "by PvPers, for PvPers" but the level 1-12 PvP was the only part of that game worth playing.
Honestly ... I think that if you don't develop your MMO *for PvP from the beginning* then your PvP will fail, & you might as well not put it in at all. But so far, the track record of such games is very poor, which leads to a lack of investment interest. I think the reason for the poor track record is simply that the pool of PvE MMO players is larger, & that's simply where the Devs are going to concentrate ... as they actually should.
That's why I rarely, if ever, bother PvPing in MMOs: it's not worth my time, because it's not worth theirs.
