Gambling on Enchanted Key's

i decided to buy one enchanted key just for the heck of it, really all the items in it look good. And i won, i know most people don't or break even, but if you have any experiences with enchanted key's, your free to post them here.

Bought 1 Enchanted Key for 43k BIN.

Opened a Rusted Iron Lockbox.

1 Planar Idol.

Get offered 1 key. (Rejected)

Gambled again and used the Astral Resonator since the odds of losing are less than winning odds. (40k-50k)(i spent 43k on key)

Got 48.5k. + 10 bars, which a coal ward costs 200 so doing the math: a coal ward is going fr cheapest 140k BIN
so divided by 20 thats 7k.

So.... spent 43k on a key, got + 5500 AD from astral resonator, and +7k with the bars, so 12.5k profit.

Overview: Yeah tbh I know 12.5k is basically nothing. but for very little effort (except for using the astral resonator, which took less than a minute) I think I did well.

How about you?

I think keys are a good investment with your spare AD, I convert my AD to Zen and save up for a 10pk of keys a couple times a month.

Opened around 1k boxes, made a small profit in the end - no big money, but doesn't hurt. However, the price of lockbox stuff dropped since then, so I guess most would now be glad to break even. Mulhorand Box is junk, Thayan Fragment is a wasted key, Leadership Pack is a loss, Artifact Pack is a loss unless you pull out an artifact.

At first I used keys as a way to support the game and its development. I paid outright for a few ten packs with purchased zen when they were on sale. Had some fun, got some ok stuff and some junk. For the most part I broke even but its not about profit. I look at it like I would be spending money on other games if Neverwinter wasnt to dam fun :) now I pretty much buy 10 keys right when a new lockbox that comes out. its exciting to hope for something rare when its fresh out, and im supporting the development of the game.

Eh, I'm saving the Lockboxes themselves for later (much later) sale. My small pile of Nightmares are already worth about 1000 (each and are only going up from there). All profit and no chance of loss.

Unless they bring the nightmare boxes back, then the price will plummet.

Never heard of them doing that in any of their other games, if memory serves.
Of course, with my luck, it's a virtual certainty :(

Star Trek Online currently dropping every box they've ever released - THIS WEEK.
In Neverwinter, they were dropping all boxes just before Module 2.

@OP I agree, they can be fun. For me, I made my most profit with the original Nightmare lockbox. The others since then (for me) are meh and I won't open them. I do have some Nightmare boxes I'm saving up for when I get the next set of keys. I do like the Resonators a lot, though. You can make real bank with those.

A lot of things with the new lockbox have settled down to rock bottom prices. But even when they first came out the the relics sold for 20k, they were still the worst of the heap that you could get.

The rate at which we get spammed with <x> got a Rust Monster/Apparatus, I'm not all that surprised about the low prices for the less desirable drops.

Yea, & the 44k AD it cost me for that gamble hurt, since I only had 86k AD to start with. But, it's just a game, so it's all good; it's not like I'm out *real* money :)

That's just it. If you buy Zen with AD you aren't out any real money. I know AD is always useful but if you already have the gear you want why not buy a few keys?

At 350 ADs per Zen, 86k ADs doesn't buy enough Zen to get anything worth while.
