Dread forge as a Guardian Fighter

This fight for me, right now. Is freaking impossible.

All I end up with is a million add's that I do not have any way in all of hell to kill before another one is out. I just died to the fricken boss after using my artifact twice and guzzling 16 pots. This is seriously a problem.

Guardian Fighter's have the worst dps in the game. It does nothing but punish us. And no matter how much damage we can block it is entirely useless when there is 15 large mobs all around you using large aoe abillities that decimate any of your shield blocking in 1 second. WTF?!?!?

I have done the quest in blue items and with rank 5 gems slotted. IF you see aoe incoming as a GF you can either use threatening rush and jump out of the red area(s) by lunging towards a different target or lunging strike, with the same result. Frontline surge is a great skill for ad-control and the actual DPS of a GF is more than enough to finish them off quickly. (20k,30k,40k etc. critical dmg is a lot.)

You can also prevent new ads from spawning by pushing "f" on the ad spawn devices.

Thanks, I will try pushing f. I never saw anything like that while I was in there.

This is the key point (which I personally didn't realise the first time I did that quest). Not destroying the Casket immediately so it doesn't spawn the Elite adds makes the fight much much harder....

I have done that fight without using potions on GWF, CW and HRs and in some of those cases the character was in blues without any enchants so the boss is doable, in fact relatively easy, so long as you prioritize destroying the caskets.

I had never seen the msg to hold F on them. I tried attacking them and that was an attempt that could only fail with my dps. Litterally I had at least 20 of the dread warriors spawned chasing me around while I drank pots and tried to charge Jawbone to attack and then run away when ever I saw red under me. It just led to more and more guys. It was guaranteed death not knowing how to get rid of the caskets.

I actually only learned yesterday what happens if you don't click the caskets. I had done Death Forge dozens of times and always clicked, because clicking is fun. If the devs ever put something that you shouldn't click in a fight, I'm in for trouble.

Buy the best weapon (highest damage) you can get on the broker. Use Knights challenge on the boss and block that damage while pummeling it with your other encounter abilities (charge and surprisingly bull rush does good damage too, considering the cool downs) - it fills your action points like mad so you can use daily powers very rapidly. Other than that a decent value in regeneration can buy you some more time.

You are right though. The trade offs the guardian fighter pays for having a slightly higher damage resistance are pretty much not worth it. I think no one would trade 20% damage away to get 20% more damage resistance since all fights are about damage.
The metagame rewards extremely well for killing speed. The faster you can kill the less you have to suffer from all the mechanics the game offers - like spawning adds, regenerating monsters, boss special abilities etc. On top of it, you save time and can do more.
The bottom line is, the shorter the fight the better. GFs are on the other extreme of that equation and they don't have the tools to handle it.

If you don-t understand how thread creation works in the forums (this is the third thread of the exact same subject with the exact same title and the first one already has many, many replies in it) - then I can only presume it has to do with your understanding about how to play the Guardian Fighter.

    No insult intended. I'm serious.
