[Suggestion] Rework on Feats - Paragon Feat Grids

Having played Neverwinter and Allods Online which are rather similar, I find Neverwinter much better in terms of gameplay.

Throughout playing NW however, I have only respecced once and it's because of trying out different Power builds with the other paragon path instead of anything to do with the Feats.

On the other hand, I have respecced close to a dozen times in AO and ironically, it was because of the Rubies (similar to Feats) and not the Talents (similar to Powers). Why is that?

NW Feats

A brief explanation since most probably know how this works.

Starting from Level 10 to 30, you get Heroic Feat points for every level (23 for humans, 20 for others) which are spent on the feats on the left. Starting from Level 31 to 60, you get Paragon Feat points for every level (31 as of now) which are spent on the feats of either of the three trees on the right.

For every five Feat points spent (Heroic or Paragon) you unlock the next tier (column) of feats, and this continues until you reach the last column.

My opinion on this is that it is too streamlined and straightforward, and thus the Feats are easy to max out, as well as being quite limited and obvious to pick according to your build.

AO Rubies

(First paragraph is not important, but just an introduction)

Starting from Level 10, you get Ruby vouchers for every level up til max which can be used with some gold to exchange for Rubies. Rubies can also be obtained from World Mysteries, some quests, etc.

Rubies can be spent on the grid to build up your character, starting from the center cell as shown above. You can however only proceed to add the cells adjacent to the ones you already have (will be coloured once added), as shown when their borders are highlighted in orange. (up, down, left, right)

The empty cells that you see in the image are not useless, Rubies can be spent on them as well. They serve as a link to certain bonuses which you might want to have faster since the cells (with bonuses in them) along the way might not be useful or relevant to your desired build.

And note that not all the bonuses in the grid are passive, some of them are active Talents.

Suggestion

Heroic Feats can stay the same as it is now.

For Paragon Feats however, use a similar grid system that AO uses, with Paragon Feat points being spent in NW's case instead of Rubies. What can be done is either:

1) scatter the existing Paragon Feats in the similar grid system, with some random image being the origin OR

2) lower the max level of each Paragon Feat to 3 and introduce new passive bonuses or even Powers exclusive to the Paragon Feat path, and then scatter them

This would most probably be better because:

  • More diverse and unique builds
  • More options, whether to skip a cell or not
  • More mistakes made meaning more respecs, more AD spent

And that's all, thanks for reading and leave any response if you wish!
