emails fail due to full inbox even though inbox is empty

I have two characters which I purposely put on different shards at Beta. Now that the shards have merged I finally got around to testing the sending of messages (and eventually items to help each out) between my two toons. WELL. No can do.

When I try to send email I get a warning message in RED TEXT that the
recipient's mail inbox is full
When I check the inbox, there is no mail. For either toon. I also get this message when I send mail to the same toon.

I have gotten mail from AH transactions so I find this rather strange.

I searched around and found some other mail issues but no clear resolutions and nothing mentioned the full inbox message.

Any clues, tips, hints, fixes?

If any of your toons have full inboxes you will get this message regardless of which toon you send it to. The emails the game sends are to a specific toon vs the emails players send are to the account. That is what I expect you are experiencing.

Well, something like that. I played around more and found the following:
    - I was addressing the email as "@character". This is clearly not correct but it enabled the SEND button so I clicked it. This led to the aforementioned 'full inbox' warning. Also the same message is seen if the addressing is mistyped (say handle@character or whatever).
    - When the addressing IS correct the email is posted to the recipient but it appears it is an account email. BOTH toons see the same message. This happens using either the mail icon from the UI or the Courier in PE.

So the incorrect addressing appears to elicit what must be the standard message for any email error, albeit misleading.

And the shared viewing of emails (which I assume would be the case for all characters in an account) is just unexpected. If I had a second account I could test the results of sending emails across accounts (to see what is seen).
