Before I elaborate let me say something, I do some modding work for a gaming community and almost nothing pisses me off more than when I ask for feedback and all I get is vague answers (topped only by hackers). A simple yes or no answer can be helpful sometimes but it almost never helps me improve the mod. Unfortunately that's what a lot of the feedback for Neverwinter seems to be like! It's all "I hate it" or "I love it". This doesn't help!

So in this post at least please follow this format and explain exactly why you like or dislike Neverwinter.
Do you like Neverwinter? Yes or no.
Your answer here, one word.

What specifically do you like about Neverwinter (if anything). Give details, situations, everything you can think of.
Give a list or a paragraph or two. Be descriptive to the letter.

What specifically do you dislike about Neverwinter (if anything...if you have nothing you're not thinking hard enough). Same as above, be descriptive.
Same as above, be as descriptive as possible and give reasons behind each specific detail you dislike.

Here is mine

Do you like Neverwinter? Yes or no.
Yes.

What specifically do you like about Neverwinter (if anything).

-Story based missions and quests, coupled with fairly good voice acting and a variety of special quests depending on your class and race that makes things more interesting.
-Guantylgrim is fun, great combination of PvP and PvE mechanics, making the entire instance a party where everyone's invited was a good call.
-The foundry was a great call, giving the players the ability to develop more content on their own. It makes it so that if we aren't satisfied with something in the PvE quests we can just make it ourselves.
-Skirmishes are fun, having large PvE maps where players work together to either defend or attack is an interesting concept.
-The graphics are really good, I prefer the more realistic style to Warcraft's cartoony weirdness (do not change it ever!)
-The domination PvP was a good concept (more on that in dislike)
-Salvaging epic items was a great and well implemented concept, it means that even if you didn't get the item you wanted from that dungeon you still get "something" out of it
-I like how each class has its own role to fill with few exceptions, and each are needed at least to some degree
-I like the attention to detail in the architecture and map design of each level, sometimes I notice really cool tidbits in rooms where most people never would (because if you're in a party you hardly ever take a minute to look around).
-I like the balance of the PvE enemies, some enemies being a real challenge to survive and others being easy but requiring some level of concentration to kill. Especially the fact that most enemies don't perfectly telegraph all their attacks so it's fairly easy to dodge but only if you pay attention.

What specifically do you dislike about Neverwinter (if anything)

-The lack of multiple PvP modes outside of guantylgrim and domination. It feels like the game could really benefit from a territory control, cart race, attack/defend, 1v1 duel, arena (single life) type, and PvP skirmish types.
-Domination PvP becomes strictly unbalanced depending on who paid for their armor and who didn't, could definitely benefit from a gear score threshold that puts the Pay to win people with other pay to win people and puts the just for fun people with other just for fun people.
-The seismic shot bug (which I have been unable to duplicate with a wood elf using the manticore seal bow, on every enemy including winter festival enemies up to level 50) can cause a massive amount of lag.
-The foundry developers don't have access to all the art assets developers do, which I find sad because it severely restricts us (levers especially)
-The winter festival was a disappointment due to fishing being the only reliable way to get a large chunk of lights, but also the most boring way
-Skirmishes get boring after you repeat them too much because there's very little variety or change, could definitely benefit from two or three different types of skirmishes per area
-I don't like the fact that our progress, quest completion, and actions don't have any effect on the map. This game could benefit from quest completion, number of kills, and number of deaths actually changing the enemy layout or increasing/decreasing the number of tough enemies. Maybe even one or two annoying mob groups that don't grant a lot of reward but appear more frequently if a lot of players are dying and very few are killing.
-I don't like the current state of endgame, daily quests and what little PvP there is can get to be a simple drag eventually. This should be improved with more PvP options in module 3 but should also be improved on the PvE options with more quests (That aren't just simple daily grinds) and more content only unlockable at level 60.
-I don't like the lack of word and choice driven quests, a few quests where the players are required to solve puzzles (and the answer isn't obviously thrown in their face) per area could spice up the monotonous kill x number of x enemies for x reason and reward y.
-I don't like the companion's AI, I'd prefer to be able to tell my companion to either stay far away or to hug my back as close as possible so they don't attract the attention of every hungry troll in the map.
-I dislike the lack of PvP tools in the foundry but if the developers can put in good PvP elements then I'd accept this.
-I think it's a bad idea to constantly make people play through the storyline just to reach level 60. If I'm on my 3rd character I don't want to play through the same area 3 times, it's boring and drab and nothing has changed in the past 2 playthroughs. I don't personally like PvP enough to make a PvP only character but people who want to just play the domination over and over again are being cut off and neglected from this.
-I dislike the lack of randomization in the areas, enemies consistently spawn in the same area on the same timer, with absolutely no change. This game could benefit greatly from some level of randomness so you actually have to hunt down the monsters you're supposed to kill and explore a little instead of follow the glowing marker to your next exp bundle.
-Where's my jetpack? ...wait that's for GTA.

Keep it clean and be as specific as you can. Do not turn this into a rant or I'll just hand the developers my interrogation bat.

I'm curious what game(s) you mod for and what kind of mods you make. I ask, as I too have modded a few games in my time, from those heady Doom days up to the present. I'm currently working on 4 different mods for Skyrim, but I've modded Fallout, Minecraft, amongst others.

Onto the meat of your questions then:

    Do I like Neverwinter?
    Yes, very much.

    Things I like:
The variety - not just of locations and characters, but of mounts, companions, etc. Variety is the spice of life for me.

The game is playable solo - big plus. As a retired oldie, I am often around while friends are still at their daily grind at work, so the fact I can play by myself is handy. Most quests are easily doable with a bit of skill and care, by just me and whatever animal I have following me.

Mimics! I have a bit of a soft spot for those since my early D&D days. They're hard, but funny! Oh, and Mindflayers! And the Drow of course. Drow were always a big favourite with me. At least I haven't bumped into Tiamat yet! :D

The seasonal events. They're often funny, offer novelty items and stuff. I don't think I've played a game where I chased chickens before, and I quite enjoyed the fishing. I like fishing in real life too. As a fairly casual player, the novelty stuff appeals to me - I like having cool things to look at as I play, especially in games like this that are primarily in 3rd person.

Being able to make 'free money' by praising whatever relevant gods - finally, gods are actually useful! I use this to generate cash for those novelty items I can't get in other ways!

Zen shop mounts are account-wide. Big plus for mount collectors like me!

Game is fully playable with mounts and companions easily available without paying a penny/cent/euro/whatever. There is still a fairly good variety here too.

Every clothing item is usable by any class, any gender, any race. You buy a fashion outfit and it can fit male, female, elf or half-orc, right across the board. One of the reasons I quit Tera was due to them concentrating on only female outfits, or race bias (mostly the silly little manga girlie things). I play male characters exclusively. Always have, especially in 3rd person. Tera devs made me feel like I was not worth their effort as a player, just because I'd rather look at a man's butt than a woman's when I'm gaming! People playing male characters were obviously not important enough to make stuff for. Neverwinter's total equality is a huge plus for me.

Spiders! 'Nuff said - I love spiders!

    Things I don't like:
PvP - I am just not the competitive type, I like to play in a more chilled out way. The constant trash-talking and pissing contests between players just turn me right off it.

All the different money types. There are too many currencies for me to keep my meagre brain on! I struggled with numerical things enough as it is, plus some stuff like seals, quickly become useless before my character even has enough of them to spend.

The lack of an account-wide bank. I played Tera for a year and the account-wide bank was just so handy for easily passing stuff between characters. There was a LOT of space in it too. Another gripe I have of this game - even buying the founder pack didn't give me more bank space like Tera did.

Prices for pet and mount upgrades. Rather extortionate for one item for one character. especially when one keeps spending the diamonds on more novelties to look at!

The lack of classes. D&D has a huge amount of classes, multi-classes and sub-classes, making a lot of options for play style. Again, it's the variety thing - or in this case, the lack thereof. :)

The lack of variety in the look of armour between lower and higher levels. And always the same colour. Every wizard is blue. Every rogue is brown, etc.

No Lolth as a deity option. My Drow may be a renegade, but he still likes his spiders!
A dream to some, a NIGHTMARE to others!

    Lolth be praised!

Team fortress 2, I've mostly just done zombie gameplay mods and some customization shops (where you kill other players and get coins to spend for character upgrades, kinda RPG-esque thingies like that). And as a fellow modder you probably understand exactly what I mean by vague feedback :P

Do you like Neverwinter? Yes or no.
    Yes

What specifically do you like about Neverwinter (if anything).

    - AH system
    - the in-game voice interface (the one available in team)
    - the periodic maintenance and the patches
    - the fact that players can build their own adventures
    - the costumes / the environment
    - the patching "on-the-fly" - excellent

What specifically do you dislike about Neverwinter (if anything)

    - the fact that is not possible to actively change perspective far / closer
    - you can't have big raids (20-30-40 people) and you need to go with 5 (doc down - wipe / tank down - wipe)
    - enclave instances are set to max 150 players (way too many imo)
    - you can't transfer from player to player the game currency (AD and zen)
    - AH interface is way too laggy
    - in-game support is like absent
    - you can't use a combination of social items and actual items and you can't operate on the items without having to switch from social (I don't like to appear out of nowhere in broad daylight in PE with blood on my armor after I come from a battle - I want to use a nice dress there and a carnaval mask while I change my armor and weapon and handle them to the smith for repairs)
    - I don't wanna have my gear inspected (is not nice to have someone looking at your underwear unless you want to) :) and I don't want to copy anyone and no one should copy me - I have my build - we don't want everyone to look the same
    - and yes .. from time to time I'd like to design my own clothes .. but this is just me
If you see this and have the answer - PM me or answer real quick because this post will be removed

    I thought zen was account-wide?

I think he/she means you can't give AD and Zen to other players, not to other characters on the same account.

    2 Main Points:
    1. Yes, I enjoy my INGAME (forum/moderation will not get into because were not allowed to) time with Neverwinter; RELATIVE to previous experiences with F2P games this is by far the best.
    2. Would recommend as a F2P MMO to a friend/stranger interested in F2P MMO with the caveat of what to expect with f2p mmo.

I thought you wouldn't pollute your own post, but if you insisted here we go :)

By transfer from player to player I mean not from my toon to my other toon, but from a player from Nicaragua to a player from Russia :) (random 2 country to point the idea)

Well if you're not clear obviously I'm going to ask :P the point of the thread is to make clear details after all! Besides the people who follow the format from the first post will stand out from the simple clarifications.

the problem with creating a thread with posting limits is it's going to be problematic when someone doesn't want to do that or if the OP doesn't do that. not to mention the OP is demanding that you must first read the thread to respond and to follow the forum rules in the process which is a forum violation in and of itself.

and as much as the OP doesn't want this to become a rant thread, i'm afraid it will get to that point. the topic is too broad for it to not. and there are plenty of current focused discussions open.

    this thread is closed.
