After many rewrites and efforts to update play length RANGER GAUNTLET is now available as a daily foundry quest. That means you can get a boatload of reward by talking to Rhix in the marketplace and then playing this quest.
This quest is a series of three unique maps focused on creating an specific space for HR (Hunter Ranger) players to really focus on developing effective tactics as an archer.
The series of maps places you in the position of defending a fixed point from waves of on coming monsters. You are joined by NPCs and reinforcements to support your position. The quest scales nicely being straightforward for lower level characters and and very challenging for 60th level.
If you like the idea of picking off attackers from castle walls as they assault your tower and being supported by NPCs this is a foundry module for you.
Map transition text -- Guard misspelled Gaurd. In the first conversation with the captain of the gate as well.
advanceing = advancing
these vermin monster -- these vermin monsters
Second map -- fell from high up, taking significant damage
Untill = Until
Your on your own = You're on your own
I liked the third tower best, where you're just pretty much alone. Reminded me of a tower defense game -- more of that would be nice. The first two waves, where you used mechanics to try and keep the mobs contained, didn't work so well for me. If the guards helped at all, there was no experience for the encounter. On the other hand, if I DIDN'T use the guards to help, it was too much for me.
Customizing the guards so they look like they're in a consistent uniform would be nice. The mobs were all generic; some customization there would be nice as well.
Overall, I love the concept. Could use some spelling, and maybe turn it into more tower defense and less like a way to get quick xp.
