So I'm not exactly loaded (could only afford a cheap Holy Avenger lesser), have about 9.2k GS with a basic 'glass cannon' focus (crit/power/ArP, recovery where i can get it), but I'm finding a lot of the T1 stuff is quite lackluster in terms of stats, especially compared to rare stuff I find (much higher power/crit values if no other stats). I have the T1 2pc bonus, something around 30% crit and 3k AP, and a bit under 1K ArP (low I know, but I have the elemental empowerment 5/5 and CoI on the main mob up on cd).
My question is, how do I obtain better gear (T2, I imagine) without actually going to a T2 instance first? I've joined 3 T2 runs, one through a pm and 2 through the LFG tool and was kicked almost immediately, for what I can assume is my low GS. Obviously I can't get T2 gear if I'm not running T2 dungeons, and I'm not going to spend millions of AD (which I don't have) on the AH. How do I improve?
P.S> I'm routinely top or close to top (vs a decked HR or other CW) dps in a PuG on my T1 runs. I find it a little hard to be the only CW especially in a group with no GF (or a bad GF) because of aggro; usually those kinds of groups have HAMSTER dps and end up failing on last boss anyway.

Gauntlgrym runs to get the GG T2 armor/weapons. Use AD from salvage/dailies/etc to get decent accessories...ancient slavemaster rings, ancient neck, pyro ring, etc. With those kind of accessories + 2/2 T1 or GG set you should be around 10-11k and hopefully, able to get into lfg T2 runs(if you have an active guild it's easier).

I'm 11.9K with T1 Armor, a pyro ring, Sharandar ring, and cheapT2 belt and neck. I have either the GG or glory orb and talisman.
Farm enchants. I'm using rank 7s in my offense and defense slots.
Get a full set of T1, or two half sets.
Get your tailoring to 20 and make purple pants and shirts.
And, as others said, run Gauntlgrym. CT, CC, and Idris are the easiest T1s. Gray Wolf Den is easy if you don't let anyone but the tank engage the boss.
If you can buy Zen, get an Ioun Stone. They're $6 right now.
I really like to help you, but don't know how lol.
My best advice is to suck it up and keep making run, meet some good cw and learn from them. At least that is how I do it.
Join a guild help as well. Find some currently recruiting guild and have fun!
I would say get a stone first, cause CW is the most needed and useful class in PVE aside from a DC. And we all agree stone offers the best bang for the buck.
Last, I have to give it away to you that if that is your first toon everything could be really hard and confusing in the beginning, but once you stick through it things get better.

It is really a bad idea levelling tailoring to make purple shirt and pants ( i suppose both with slot) because you need purple assets to be able to craft those items with slot (without slot those are completely useless) , it is much cheaper and faster buy the shirt / pants in AH
people dont want to see u wearing blue armor trust me.just find 2 t1 half sets pvp ones are cool to.and if u have a stone u are good to go any t2 if not try to get one now.u can say up to 1gs more in chat with this gear no one would care once they inspec u.
