Hi, I just received the 4th boon related to the Dread Ring campaing which can be one of the following:

Enraged Regrowth: When taking damage, you have a chance to heal 1000 hit points over a few seconds, after this effect ends you gain 250 more Defense for 10 seconds.

Shadowtouch: When dealing damage, you have a chance to deal 1000 necrotic damage over a few seconds, after this effect ends the target receive 25% less healing from spells for 10 seconds.

After testing both, "over a few seconds" means 4 seconds and Enraged Regrowth gives you only 600 HP (thanks to Righteousness), the 250 bonus defense is apparently there according to the buff under our portrait but it is not shown in our character stats. Healer's lore does not affect it.

Shadowtouch deals necrotic damage (based on the enemy resistance) 4 ticks in 4 seconds too.

Both have the same cooldown, 1 minute.

As a DC, healing 600 each minute is just bad and 250 more defense is not really noticeable, maybe it's a good bonus for another class but why would they choose it instead of shadowtouch when this will allow them to kill DC more easily. We already have a 40% heal debuff and now we can add 25% more debuff for 10 seconds. I don't think the Shadowtouch effect can be stacked but perhaps it is possible to activate them one after another (not tested yet).

I love to PvP 1vs1 being DC and thinking that I will receive 25% less heals is nasty because is too much. In my opinion, It should be 25% less temporary hit points, that still affect us but it would be worse for the GWF.

What do you think about this?

Seriously, Cryptic should finally learn that if something isn't an effective 15% boost in anything that it won't be noticeable, if something pops up once per minute it is worthless unless it negates rare but destructive event. 600hp over a minute... 250 regen boon heals alone that much over 6 seconds.
But that didn't stop them from slapping a 10 second 25% heal debuff. Good thing it probably won't affect ff/astral shield.

I agree. Shadowtouch scales a lot better and as a non-DC you'd be crazy not to take it.

As a DC, well, meh. They both kind of suck in general, unless you do premade PvP, in which case Shadowtouch is again obvious.

What do you think about this?

You.....mentioned....RIGHTEOUSNESS.......must.......calm....down.....[takes tablets and thinks how easy it is on my Hunter now].

    On a calm note:
Well according to your figures the heal doesn't appear to be that good. What I always wonder on these 'chance' abilities is how often they actually happen. If the cd is 1min then you hope they are happening as soon as they're off cd.

Now you could say that you are getting these as a free bonus, just by playing, and that would be correct. However, boons like these should be viewed in comparison to what other classes are getting, especially in pvp.
Maybe if they removed the Righteousness penalty from this ability it would be better? [ok I mentioned the R word and have to go for a lie down again].
    ...............vote for your favourite expansion..........
"Mod 6. Oh my f****** god. It gutted the game pure and simple. And what wasn't gutted was messed up by the poorly thought out new level cap and equip. The game never recovered from that atrocity".
    ..............not this one then.............

This is the exact reason I removed the healing sharandar boon to elven ferocity. Righteousness should not apply to healing skills other classes can have >.<.

I have nightmares of a bug being introduced that makes it apply to potions.

If I recall, the last time the community bug reported this kind of behavior, the dev response was basically "Sorry that it sucks, but that's Righteousness for you, and it's still in the game, so yeah."

It's still a bug IMO that boons count as the DC's own powers for this purpose, even if you overlook Righteousness being ridiculous.
