I'm still saving up just for the first fawn and it's going really slow due to my lack of time. Are there any tricks to maximizing the collecting of those tokens?

Do enough of the contests to craft the purple fishing pole (it really does make a big difference), then fish like mad. Try to win a few of the fish contests now and then too, that helps boost Lights-per-hour a fair amount (45 if you win, 25 for 2nd).
Not to sound like a broken record, but fishing with the purple rod really is the most time-efficient method. You can break it up doing the other contests now and then but...yeah. Your F pressing finger will get tired.

I also alt-tab to the Sword Coast Adventures game and run the Winter Event map location - it rewards with lights and other materials (including Winterkill emblems) which are used in the crafting profession.

So I have been at this non stop since the winter event dropped and I wanted to give out some pointers as I have only stopped fishing to do just enough events in order to level my Lightcrafting.
Fishing seems far and above the most efficient way to grind out lights in order to buy the things you want to buy. I assume you have followed the quest line in order to start fishing. I wont go into detail about the most efficient way to get your epic fishing pole. I expect you can do the math here and figure that out. I will however tell you how I have managed to fill my bags and bank to the brim with Candlefish though.
First off I am assuming at some point the fish will give a double turn in like Cryptic usually does and it's why I turn in all my fish except the Candlefish. Seeing as by the time we get to the double event I will probably be having to turn in even those as my bags are almost full of them now.
Second yes at this moment I have no life so I have been fishing like a mad man and just about to go insane because of it but all the more because I probably have mental issues anyway since I have kept at it this long.
1. Get to your purple rod as soon as possible. Not only is the cast time lower than every other rod it gives you a better chance to catch something. Whether you buy whatever mats you can or make them is up to you. I personally did the tasks and just sped them up with AD and surprisingly they are not that expensive to do so.
2. Craft bait. This seems extremely crucial as I have run a few tests with this and yes the better the bait (as you would guess) the better the catch on average of course. Craft the best bait. I know it takes some time but you can speed that up by using any alts you may have to craft multiple levels of items simultaneously. Using the gateway works wonders here.
3.Use the bait on every hole. I save all my Szorps for blue and purple holes. When they have closed of course it will still be active go to a green or white. Once the bait timer drops off step down to using a blue bait at this point. In my tests it seems nearly as effective but my average level of catches drops from just above blue level fish and bags to slightly lower than blue level fish and bags.
4.Open those bags! They contain junk to sell which isn't much but it starts to add up. You can also get seals and it seems every bag drops a light pod or two (I have so many I cannot use them all at this point). Once in a while it seems to be about a 15% rate they will drop Szorps. I haven't really kept track on this just kind of giving an estimate.
5. Don't be afraid to fish a white hole. If you see a purple or blue open up all the way across the lake and you are fishing a white or green it is not worth the wasted time to run over to it. Of course it stands to reason if it is close of course get to it. On this topic if one opens up near you finish your current catch no matter the hole you are on. Again why waste that time when you will still get to fish it.
6.This one goes more towards winning the contest but all of the above really apply as well. When you are stood up and are not being allowed to fish look around you because you are aggrod by a skeleton. DON'T just stand there help the other people kill it! You can't fish until it's done and the faster it dies the faster you go back to fishing! On a more devious note if you slide away right as one pops out of your hole you can actually not get targeted but this is best done when you do not have a companion out as they will be targeted or attack the sksleton themselves.
7.This also applies to the contest. Keep your head on a swivel. After you fish out a hole and jump to a new one (make sure it's close otherwise stand there and wait for yours to open again) cast your rod and turn your camera to look at the other holes. I can't tell you how many times the hole I was just at opened back up and turned blue or purple and no one at the hole I was on knew it but me.
8.Again this one is for the contest. Do not ignore fishing on a white hole. If you have to wait and the holes you have been near glitched and instantly covered again jump to the nearest white hole while you wait. Sometimes the 5-6 points I fished out of that hole was the deciding factor in me getting second or first place.
I have used these strategies to build up a very nice stock of Candlefish for myself. I hope you find these tips useful and have fun fishing out there.
So you decided to attack some spelling error to don't have to deal with the contain and when you did you didn't have the brain to can answer it.
True about the fishing and SCA. Also - a lot of Fawn companions in the Auction House - the flood is pushing prices down to about 600K right now. They'll possibly go a lot lower in a week or so. Just an FYI.
And while fishing - pick a hole and just stay there:
White and Green - about 10 to 12 clicks
Blue Average 5 to 6 clicks
Purple - between 3 and 4 clicks
Hole respawn: 10 seconds.
I find it easiest to just stand at one hole, when it runs out, just wait for the respawn. If I have bait (lures and the fish bait from bags) I usually save them for when the fishing event is active. Right now I have something like 200 regular lures, 30 blue lures and 18 fish. LOL
EDIT: I mean to say: save the fish and blue lures for the event to help your chances of winning #1 spot. Remaining contest placement (2nd through 10th at least, I think) win 25 Lights (might be everyone, I don't know), 1st place wins 45. Use the "regular" sparkly lures constantly otherwise.
