Thoughts on pvp builds, deflect or recovery? What do you prefer and why?

I've been testing some new builds which stack both deflect and recovery for pvp TR. What are some new findings people are testing? Has anyone found a good balance utilizing both in same build? Or are you guys finding that you prefer one more than the other?

While I don't have any testing on this situation, I do read a lot of the forums. What I've found is that the best thing to do is balance stats. There are plenty of classes with players who have tried focusing on one or another. But in the end, they find that the best they can do is balance them all out evenly to be the strongest.

Deflect is a stat that's hard to stack due to its early diminishing returns. So if you wish to optimize your deflect, you're better off getting your stats from ability scores, gear, artifacts, boons, racial features (halfling). For 20% deflect, you need roughly 3115 Deflect stats which you'll be able to get much easier from the things I've mentioned earlier. Past 20% deflect, it'll be harder to increase the percentage any further. But with each point in CHA, you can get 1% extra deflection, and for each point in DEX you get 0.5%. So 20 DEX and 20 CHA means you can get an extra 15%, taking your deflect to 35%. Get the Halfling Racial Feature and you get 38%, and get an extra 3% from Lucky Skirmisher Feat for 41% Deflect Chance. Take Skillful Infiltrator for an additional 3% deflect for a total of 44% deflect,

You can go past 20 for CHA and DEX so I'm pretty sure you can go as high as 45% plus deflect with all those factored in. And with 45%+ deflect chance, majority of the damage you take should be healed back by Regen and Life Steal. But the problem will be finding the gear with deflect on it. :)

Armor penetration does little to nothing if you deflect an attack. The damage is calculated by your deflection severity the default is 25%. I think defensive slotting should all be HP. However, I think the defection gains from heroic feats, boons, and cha should be taken. I was able to obtain 26% without slotting, but race and cha base score will produce different results from one tr to the next.

I'm with noxisst on this one. I'm a human rogue and specced a few points in charisma, (maxed dex) and a few remaining in str as well as the feats and class features (passive), w/o slotting for deflection I managed to hit 27.1% deflection chance. Now as mentioned above race will determine how much deflection you get, pretty sure theiflings gets another 3% deflect or something close to it. But for gearing I went with recovery stats for my offensive save for a few slots to hit cap ArP in pve/pvp. Defensive slots is all HP and I can tell you, sporting 1.2k regen and 22k hp vs 1.2k regen 30k HP is a huge difference in survivability pve and pvp wise.

Also recovery helps ton in pve as well (I've got a recovery itemized purple stone) since I'm using skulkers as my end game set rather than using 2 different sets.

About deflection, I've tried as high as 35% and sometimes I would still get hit and die with my 22k hp from a first strike lashing blade or something, so I figured i'll be more tanky if I get a HAMSTER ton of hp and above average deflection and that lead me to 30k hp and 27.1% deflect, feels pretty good.
