So I've just recently gotten into Neverwinter since it went on Steam and I'm enjoying the game more than I thought I would. I've been playing MMO's since UO so I've been around the block and am no stranger to gear grinds, getting crapped on etc etc. My highest currently is a 40 CW with some alts sprinkled in to try things out and learn about some classes.
Questions:
Does CW ever get to drop bombs? I enjoy the PvP but seeing as how most games are mostly HR/TR and now GWF are starting to show up and be monsters I have to wonder does the CW ever bring the pain? I've been critted for 8.5k in the 30-39 bracket as a 39 by HR's, 6500 by GWF's and 7-8k from TR's. Highest number I've seen on my CW is probably 2-2.5k.
What should I be gearing for stat wise? The stat system isn't terribly good at explaining what does what and how much affect something has.
Gripes:
HR's, why does a class that can crit for 8k from range have what appears to be a longer range then my CW, and also has CC(that rubber banding root is -ridiculously- annoying and that intermittent skill lock tangle thing) and is no more squishy and easy to kill than I am allowed to be called balanced? The only joys I have are pushing them off pillars and bridges, sadly there is no fall damage. How do you deal with this class?
TR's, that long *** skill lock after being crit from stealth for over half my health is really annoying. How do you counter that or are you just going to have to eat it? Is it a daily? Most of my frustrations are from learning all the classes still.
GWF's what the HELL are these guys using? My GWF is only 19 I know but he kind of gets his *** kicked a lot. These GWF's I'm running into now on my CW are just monsters, they won't die, determination is up nonstop, and suddenly damage is just coming out of nowhere. I've seen the powers for GWF as I have one, not sure where it's coming from.
Look forward to seeing you guys in game, thanks for reading.

The only high-burst single-target damage ability that CWs have, to be competitive with something like a TR's Lashing Blade, is Ice Knife, and it is a daily.
There is also Chill Strike and Icy Rays, which are encounters, but have to be feated in order to really perform well, and even then might only do 8-10k damage on a single target. Which is nothing for a Regen Sent GWF.
If you want to PVP and have fun at PVP, roll a TR/GWF/HR. Seriously. Being a CW at high-level PVP is no fun. You are constantly focused down, and in order to make yourself so tanky that you can withstand the high burst damage from TRs or the continual poundings of a GWF, you gimp your damage-dealing abilities so badly that you only just barely tickle your enemies. So all you really end up doing all the time is running around and dodging and evading, oh and you occasionally get to use an Ice Knife.
The only real upside is that CWs get to generate action points relatively quickly compared to the other classes. But I'd trade high-burst dailies for high-burst encounters any day.
But if you insist:
1. Stack HP
2. Stack Regen
3. Hope for lucky crits from Ice Knife

- the game has 0 balance for PvP outside high level, ultrageared premade vs premade games
- there is a new set of epic gear that grows in stats with your level, and has armor/weapon enchant slots (I think). Couple this with the relatively low cost of unslotting enchants and sending them to your leveling alt, I suspect you might have met a full-epics HR with what might have been a vorpal (nice looking, shiny/shimmery bow?), while you probably have greens and blues.
Basically you can slot high end enchants on leveling gear, it will obviously make PvP HAMSTER in these brackets.
- yes you will be able to "drop bombs" literally (Shard of Endless Avalanche/mastery :P). Yes you will have very damaging attack and dangerous debuffs. However... you will need a huge amount of gear for these things to happen, as in months of farming or some generous "donation" to PW.
- sadly you will still be the most squishiest class in PvP, but you can attenuate this issue a bit with yet another set of gear that is PvP centric, and a PvP build.
You will be able to have fun with the CW in PvP, but it will take time, practice, farming and/or money.

My 13.4k CW can barely keep up with my 10.7k GWF in PvP. While my GWF might not do much damage, she can just stand on a point and annoy people all game(and occasionally steal kills). My CW can only really burst down a single opponent before having to flee, generally CW is good for bursting down a softie(HR, opposing CW, TR waiting for stealth to recharge or for troll-repel-freezing GFs).
In pugs...sure you'll be able to drop the bomb, but only when you're much better geared than the opposition.
High level enchantments should have gear level restrictions like enchantments do in WoW(hell even EQ I think doesn't let you twink anymore). Seems like the devs dropped the ball on a feature that's been around in MMO's for awhile now.
That's been my only real gripe with this game so far is the lack of things that are pretty much staples in MMO's these days. Twinking caps, debuffs for leaving instances etc. Oh well, hopefully they get added in later.

right now my favorite troll team is 5cw pvp premade with tabbed repel, shield, and ice storm. summon/drop shards on bases. Generally you cap all 3 bases and get the other team to quit within the first 2 minutes and win the match with like 5-6 total team kills.
Another question that I forgot to post was how is Domination scored? I know nodes generate points and apparently so do kills but I swear, there are times when my team has 2 nodes from the start and hold them for awhile but we are behind in points. It boggles my mind and I must be missing something.

The purple level with you gear is new. Unfortunately the high end enchants ratically alter the game to make it unfair for those actually in level gear.
That said, if you really enjoy pvp, I'd recommend going into the library (wizard class forum) and look at the oppressor spec for pvp. It helps a lot with the chill stuff to slow down the enemy and repeatively freeze them. Frozen quickly turns to dead too. Ice knife is a big 'bomb' skill. the shard of the endless avalanche (which is a 50's spell) gives you a sphere you push into others that blows up, knocks everyone down and can do really nice crits. So you're getting there, just.. not yet.

PM me if you want to be able to PvP with a CW. There are a couple of builds that can work very well.

Capping node = 300 individual points
Kill near a node = 100 individual points
Kill = 50 individual points
Assist = 25 individual points
These (and maybe some more, idk) make up your individual score.
Holding nodes for a period of time generates your team's score.

Otherwise in PUG game CW always and will die fast and most.
This man speaks the truth. CW is probably the hardest class to get good at in this game. So it's not something that is good for a "casual player."
Completely agree for PVP, PVE CW is easy. PVP for CW is rough.
