It's hard to say unless you see the stats of both CWs and their gaming habits. Any CW can play loose cannon and run ahead and shard mob packs first and so on. If there are many squishy mobs that will die on a shard crit, that CW will end up in front usually because you, being late, will have fewer mobs to hit for your AoEs. But this is not the only thing, there are many others.
However, no stats, impossible to say.

It is called "selfish" DPS. Example, a CW uses Singularity to pull the mobs together while the other one uses Oppressive force for max damage. Only way to see who does better damage is on a fight like Fulmarox (no-adds). Check your damage before start and end.. do a little maths.. and viola!
Well... Its all about how effective your rotation is: You said that you're Thaumaturge, so I will give you simple examples.
There's one on bellow that is Renegade Tree, but u might take it aswell as a Thaum.
Thaum Tree:
Destructive Wizardry: It gives you 10% damage when you use Storm Pillar by half bar and hits at least 2 mobs. Are you doing it? Frozen Power Transfer: Chilling Cloud grands you 5% bonus damage every target you hit with its third strike. Are you waiting for the 3rd strike before starting your rotation? Assailing Force: It buffs coi to reduce mistigation of mobs by 15%, are u using it? On Mastery? (might get better results)
Renegade Tree: Nightmare Wizardry: It buffs your combat advantage, are u getting it regularly? (Be behind mobs)
These are some examples. For being effective, I would start with 3 chilling cloud on a pack of mobs to get dmg % bonus, use Conduit for reduce their mistigation, use steal time to stack hv ~ and then Shard / Sudden Storm. I don't know your rotation, but its a simple and effective one

One thing that will really boost damage is to wait for your EoTS proc to go off before using your most powerful encounters like shard or oppressive force (and certainly ice knife).
ye thanxs that what i wanted to hear. like what combos u have. just to bring update i did like he does and used only oppressive force and our damage was same. didnt know oppressive force can bring 2 mil points of damage difference . i like singularity for the cc its gives but if u have more useful combos for thauma i be very happy to hear. thanxs.
