How to increase dps for dungeon runs...

Need some tips and tricks anyone has for optimizing dps during dungeon runs. I currently have a g vorpal + stone and full skulker set and can't seem to keep up with some cw's and gwf's. In a few cases I'll get trounced by double or more damge which is demoralizing. Just farming pirate king atm (marks) which is very aoe friendly so perhaps there's no help to be had but I have to ask. Maybe I should be using different encounters, mine are LB,DS and SS/Blitz.

Edit:Forgot to add i',m also cookie cutter executioner build..

Is Pirate King is dropping Marks? All 3 bosses or chest?

If you are a cookie-cutter probably swash buckling. And you can buy some nice companion like Fire Archon or Dancing Blade.

For dpsing mobs, I have had great luck with Wicked Reminder, ITC and LB. I am not sure how many mobs WR can hit at one time, but I'm pretty sure I've hit 10+ in a singularity, doing more total damage when it crits than any other encounter or daily. ITC keeps you in the action - ideally you are safe from painful aoes by timing your ITC or the third part of DF, which is your main dps attack of course. Maybe DS would be better in some dungeons than LB, but I don't like switching back and forth for mobs/bosses. I am not a fan of blitz, but some TRs seem to do alright with it.

I like Tactics, to help blast Whirlwind of Blades as much as possible. Shocking I use sparingly on bosses, huge adds or portals that need closing.

It will be hard to out-dps GWFs now, and CWs generally out-dps us too, so I wouldn't worry too much about winning the race. But I'd definitely look into WR, especially if the CWs are singing.

Depends on what set you're using. I in fact use t2 PVP skulkers as my end game set and the reason being is 45% increase stealth duration (if you took the heroic feat) for the 30% additional stealth damage (brutal backstab + set bonus). My trash loadout is usually LB, Wicked reminder and SS if there's more than 1 ranger but if it's mainly CWs i swap WR for dazing instead and use it right when everything get sucked up, it seems to hit quite a lot of em with it.

For bosses, i swap dazing or WR for ITC and can usually be an offtank when the tank loses aggro which kind of happens most of the time when I'm in a team with the guild and I end up tanking it instead. Going for T2 Skulkers set lets you take advantage of stealth a lot but maximizing damage dealt from stealth for a longer period of time but it comes at a price.. recovery, so you're going to have to slot your augment pet with recovery and most of your offensive stuff with recovery and a few arp here and there which with the new artifacts make this dream a reality but an expensive one at you get the full stats from your artifact at level 99.

I know I could have gone swash for pve but I wanted one set to do both and skulkers was the one to go due to the crit and arp on all pieces as well as the set bonus.

For artis I chose Bloodraven, Waters and lantern, the blood raven is a really **** good artifact for when you're about to do or need to take a few hits here and there for your teammates but it seems at legendary the "on use" is bugged and only grants you 30% of missing health instead of 90%.

In all honesty though, it's how you play your rogue that defines how good you are at dpsing whilst optimal gearing partakes in a huge part of your performance, being skilled also plays a huge part.

Since you're using skulkers as well try and optimize your stealth DF and possing SS as soon as it refreshes, it seems you're suffering from lack of recovery for gears. For passives I use tactics (sneak for pvp) with skillful infiltrator (never leaves my slot for pvp and pve as well). Lurkers assault and Whirlwind for my dailies, LA is beast mode when paired with executioner and skulkers, i use it mostly on tough single target if there's a lot of mobs around, whirlwind takes priority except for bosses where LA is just too good to pass.

Make use of ITC often so you don't have to dodge out of reds all that often if time properly, you could simply ignore the incoming boss hits and continue to dps, that's why my boss loadout have both itc and ss.

Thx for the feedback guys. I've changed my spec a bit to add deadly momentum and switch from sly flourish to DF. I've been lazy making this switch because after numerous tests on preview I got to hating the slow initial attacks and then the flurry which sometimes exhausted my stealth before I could LB. With sly I can maximize every drop of stealth before using LB. Anyways after respecing I decided to run several "Master of the Hunt" skirmishes with the same grp and see how my dps fared when comparing sly vs DF. Results were pretty much identical which I expected after all my previous preview tests. Of note however, is that when I do Moth runs I'm usually 1st in dps and occasionally 2nd. There are two reasons for this..1/ Its just a straight up dps run where I can throw caution to the wind and lead the charge and 2/ Most encounters are 3-4 mobs so AOE classes dont get to ramp up their dps. Anyways, gonna try out wicked reminder instead of dazing, thx for the idea.

After toiling with this dilemma for a while now I'd say the main way to up dps in a dungeon run is to lead the charge (through the trash mobs)....and hope you have back up..Still though, if you're dealing with 8 packs or more, aoe classes will blow us away.
