I started to use the cleric with my CW, which makes soloing much easier (I switch between her and the panther/wolf). What is the difference between the cleric and the Zen-only Acolyte of Kelemvore? Does the acolyte heal, too?
Basically, I wonder about alternatives to the cleric for healing, but haven't seen anything else.
The acolyte doesn't directly heal you. Instead she gives you a pretty large lifesteal buff. Weather this will work for you depends on how useful lifesteal is for a CW.
The acolyte puts a buff on you that reduces damage taken by a percentage (I think it's 10% less damage taken) and gives you a lifesteal buff as solthusx2 said. Unlike the regular cleric companion, she does not heal you.
She dies a lot gets lots of agro and stands in clumps of mobs with big red circles under her feat.
Strangely enough, my acolyte doesn't get nearly as much agro as the cleric; although she's still unable to move away from the big red circles:(
My acolyte has yet to die while the cleric seems to die in just about every major boss fight. Which one keeps me alive better is still up for debate at this point (using a GWF)

the aco pulls way less aggro (no aggro). the cleric pulls it all day makes her useless end game. the aco, though, like all companions is dumb and stands in **** and way to close to enemy mobs. she still dies that way

would she be worth it as a GF? or is the cleric better? more thinking that there ago, or lack of, would be less of an issue with me tanking

Well so does every other henchman after a certain level
Neverwinter Online Open Beta is an ongoing success

I think getting a cat, and stacking it with Regeneration items will result in better healing that the cleric companions, as the cat will not run into melee like the cleric and start licking the mobs faces like they are a special school bus window.
I tested something similar with life steal items on the cat, but the results were somewhat underwhelming. I also briefly tried regeneration, but I didn't have enough regeneration gear, just an amulet, so that's a bit limited, but it seemed to work in obscure ways (amount of healing dependent on missing HP rather than total of HP). I meant to look up how exactly it works.

what would we do without those "Special" people though.

Hi, i am interested to buy a cat. can you tell me a bit more about it?
Hi, i am interested to buy a cat. can you tell me a bit more about it? how much crit does it grant etc. etc.?
Cats have great stats like +100 Cuteness, +250 Softness and they meow, too! They are powerfully pettable, but will critically hit you when you try to pet them when they don't want to be touched. They, however, regenerate their charismatic nature very quickly as soon as you approach the shelf with the cans of cat food, or fix yourself a snack for dinner, and their sweetness will instantly lead to your full recovery from any kitty scratches you may have received before!
Okay, fine, I'll be serious! Here's an excerpt from my Renegade Control Wizard guide where I talked about the Cat companion:
For dungeons and group PvE, the Cat is by far the best companion. It gives you +255 Critical Chance and +225 Recovery at rank 25, but this is not what makes it so fantastic. You can give it a ring, a necklace and a belt, and the stats on these items are added to yours. That ring with +300 Power that you give the Cat? That is +300 Power for you. It's basically like wearing three rings, two necklaces and two belts! (Not all stats transfer, +HP for example does not.) Stats from runes (two offensive, one defense) also transfer directly to you. If you use an Eldritch runestone in the defensive slot ("Owner gains x% of the pet's stats"), the built-in bonuses to Critical Chance and Recovery that the Cat gives you are appropriately increased. This does not affect the bonuses from the ring/necklace/belt that you give to the Cat.
I don't think anyone has tried it yet due to the costs of recovering it if it doesn't work. It was discussed a few times and the general feeling was that it probably doesn't work.

Hehe, nice read, and informative too! thx alot, i need dat cat!
The allure stone from the Zen store works the same way, just that it has power instead of crit. But gear and runes transfer their stats to the player, as well. Depending on the AD exchange rate, the stone might be a little cheaper. The cat gets more expensive as the AD value increases. Mostly it is just a matter of preference -- floaty stone or cuddly kitty.
She will heal you at rank 30; but since the update that seems to be broken.
