Why does Gateway keep making me check my e-mail for an authentication code?

This is really irritating. What do I have to do to end this? The account guard..

I have now stopped using the Gateway,
due to every time I try to log in,
it asks me to do the verification code thing.

This did not used to happen, but has been going on for a few weeks now.
After about the fourth or fifth time it happened,
I said wtf !! and gave up in disgust.

Now I just use ingame to do everything.

I DO NOT have cookies disabled.

How is your internet connection setup? If you have a router maintaining your internet connection, whenever you cycle the router's power (shut down then power on again later) the router receives a new IP address from your service provider when it connects unless you have paid for a static IP, and that will force a new code authentication from the Gateway. If your computer is connected directly to the modem (with no router in between), then each time you reboot your computer the IP will likely change too.

As others have said, if you have cookies disabled or your browser is set to delete history (including cookies) every time it closes or if you're using a cookie-clearing or even temp file clearing utility like CCleaner or if you're using private browsing mode, all of those will cause the symptoms you said.

To disable it mouse over all games, find star trek online, login if you aren't already, click on my account, then below the profile heading the account guard option will show up.

Ok. It's due to me cleaning up history, files etc. Thanks all. Wish Gateway would still recognize my IP address even though my history has been cleaned. My ip address is basically a permanent one. I mean if I unplugged my router for awhile which I never do I might get a new one.

Anyone know when the Sword Coast adventures is being released? That's why I checked Gateway yesterday:)
