Hey all,
nice to meet everyone here
First of all: yay for finally being able to post threads.
Let me introduce myself, the name's Max. I'm from the Netherlands. I'm going into university next year but I'll hopefully find some time to find games then
About me: I LOVE fantasy books, seriously I really do! I also like watching anime and hanging out with friends (real life ones or in game ones (as soon as I make them here)).
I really like this game, it looks good but it's got that real "adventure feeling" I don't really get when playing other games
Also like the lack of kill x of is and kill Y of that quests
And nice is the small amount of skills you can use; being able to use only 7 skills is quite nice and I really like my GWF! So far I'm level 30.
Now on to my questions:
1. Whats the endgame content like? I played a few other games which both went f2p this year one is made with unreal engine 3 and is really pretty (surely you know what I mean) and the other it known of its amazing complex class system (with 3 sub classes, you gotta know what I mean). But both of these games basically required farming the same dungeon over and over and over and all except 2 or so could be farmed with kind of basic endgame gear...
Is it different here if you're a f2p? Is there more gear advancement and is getting better gear really required to be able to finish other content?
2. Can two people with the same class still be different (1 being almost full tank and the other full crowd contral?)
3. Is there any global chat or something? Usually if no GWF is online in my guild I have to go to protectors enclave and shout in zone chat about my GWF questions...
That's it for now

A quick note: take everything you read in the Forums with a dose of salt (not too seriously) - most here are both: very opinionated and very passionate about their opinions (and truthfully: I'm no different in that regard). A LOT of people are complaining about end-game content - but that's the vocal minority. There is lots of end-game content and more on the way. I'll try to answer your questions in a general sense:
End-game is a not like the level-up zones, but more challenging. The big complaint (other than bugs) is the lack of quantity. However, as a player of Cryptic's other games (Star Trek Online and Champions) - all I can say to that is that it takes time; Nevwerwinter is still a baby in comparison. STO has been around almost four years and the end-game content in that one is amazing.
Just remember that Neverwinter is still learning to walk... it's still new. Give it another year before it "finds it's groove" and is really strutting along. The developers are working hard on new content, but also still working hard on getting the balance of things right. And of course that means a lot of ongoing change, and people get used to one thing and don't like it changed, even if the change is for the better, so they will complain.
As for people with the same class being different from each other in that class: yes. Right now, only by a relatively small degree, but this week a new "module" (large content update) is coming and each class will be able to choose from a larger variety of powers, abilities and other distinguishing factors.
Visually each class is pretty lame in terms of distinguishing your look from others in the same class. Other than the race and other options you choose (like skin and hair colors, etc.) everyone looks the same. The only other visual difference in what your character's costume looks like and their is currently not a lot of variety. Right now the primary way to change your appearance is through "color dyes" - which basically changes the colors of your costume. There are other ways you'll learn about as you play.
Suffice it to say that visually, Neverwinter is full of clones. But I refer back to the "Neverwinter is still a baby" comment. Give it time so the Devs can add new content.
Chat: Chat is not global, it is area-based. I believe the range of the virtual area is relatively shallow. However, chat is global in the sense that all Cryptic games are linked. For example: if I am not in Neverwinter and happen to be playing Star Trek, you can still "private chat" with me.
In terms of "global" communication in Neverwinter: there is in-game mail. As long as you know the @Handle of someone you can send mail to them. For example: my in-game @handle is @Skytzyc - you can send a mail addressed to @Skytzyc and I will receive it, no matter which character I am playing, even if I am playing Star Trek - I will get that mail (unless you attached Neverwinter items to the message, then it's Neverwinter-only mail).
I hope these answer your questions.
Have lots of fun, and ignore the naysayers. always remember: The Devs want this to be an outstanding game, and they work to that end. Things are always changing and it can only get better in the long-run with time.
How long exactly till you were able to post threads? :O
1. Endgame content consists of the epic dungeons, a few skirmishes, Module 1, (Fury of the Feywild), and the upcoming Module 2, (Shadowmantle). There is also a level 60 PvP tier/category, but I rarely partake in it, so I cannot comment on that.
2. There are 3 different "paths" one can follow once you hit 30, (and there will be more options once Module 2 hits live). Additionally, the exact powers you slot and feats you select from the aforementioned paths, help define how your character will perform. Gear and companions can also affect the way your character behaves.
3. I would like to take this opportunity to plug the NW_Legit_Community custom chat channel - it spans all zones, so you can chat w/ others looking to run epic content (without using cheats for exploits). There's also the first_time_dungeoneer channel, (please correct me if I spelled it wrong), which may better ease you into epic content.
Hope that helps!

Im not new to D&D games. Baldurs gate and BG2 were my bread and butter growing up. I loved everything about those games (especially Minsc and Boo who made it onto every team i ever made, even the evil ones). Neverwinter nights was fun although due to computer issues never got much out of them Moved onto DDO but all my friends played WoW so i reluctantly left to be with them
Picked this up as it came out on steam and currently levelling a Trickster Rogue as rogues were always my favourite class in these games. I have a feeling im just going through an action game with others however, and not an MMO at the moment so i wanted to firstly introduce myself and secondly grab any other new guys around lv 12 and find out excactly what i can be doing that's a group exercise and not just running around murdering people.
Also is there a list of 'what the acronyms are for the newbs' as chat is full of people saying all kinds of things i have absoloutley no idea about. Kinda like when i started WoW all that time ago....
Hope to see you around!!
