I decided to keep tabs on 20 pvp rounds which I had to do to get glory for artifact, and out of those, 17 of them had at least one person leaving. Almost all of the games were ridiculously lopsided and only a few fair fights. The fastest ragequits were when one team sends a sentinel gwf to the final platform and no one can kill him before the rest of the team arrives and quickly kills them. PVP in this game is a stupid joke.
Sound more like, bad tactics to me. If a team cannot kill a single sentinel... is their gs 5k? This eiter made up or the team was really underequipped.
i always think pvp shouldn't be based on gear, but on skills and tactics. upon entering pvp we should have a different equipment, maybe the only exception would be gountlgrym. but the arena pvp should feature a free gear customisable for free. as it is now it is highly unbalanced.

So you say that the person that farmed hard or spent a ton of real cash must get equal equipment as other pugs in pvp? Sound like a new era of comunism to me. What's next? Perfect Vorpals for free?
Not to mention it would eliminate any motivation for pure pvp players to create their own new builds since we'd be all "equal" lol
P.S Baah, what am I even talking about, I should just follow the advice and give up posting a reply for post like this
UPD As for GWF sentinel, you either CC him to death or your best is just to run to capture other nodes if you can't kill him.

other companies did just that and some made it to competitive scene. I dare to say that all games that have a large audience on livestreams have this basic rule, people start with equal gear and skill is what decides the winner.
Vasdamas, how you made a mention about communism regarding to finding a balance in pvp is both ridiculous and foolish. This isn't the cold war anymore and i'm pretty sure you're simply word vomiting without knowing what you're implying.
That being said.
The problem isn't gear score or unfair team match ups.
The problem is that there is NO intensive for people to STAY in a PVP match if they are loosing and at the bottom of the list. Sure being steamrolled by a 5 group of t2 guildies in a PVP you just started your 60 trying to get glory for t1 items for and only getting 10 for a 10 minute match sucks... but i wouldn't say that's the heart of the problem. It's an MMO and you should be able to trust some random pubs to a certain extent and know that you fighting hard against an epic t2 team with your blue and green items will still earn you a worthwhile reward.
You know, if 5 people are kept busy by a Regen GWF that just won't die without killing anybody...it means that his strategy outplayed theirs.
I will agree that PvP is filled with ragequitters and generally one-sided matches, but most of the times the reason is simple. Either the team had a bad draw and all the non-experience players with bad gear went on the one side or they are facing a good premade.
Never could understand the folks that have perfects and tenes getting mad that other folks want to pvp on equal footing.
2 shot tene tr is not skill...it is p2(insert word).
40k regen/lifesteal/tene sent GWF is not skill.
All classes have an OP build when coupled with gear. So much so that the standards for pvp will come down to having the build and gear to play or not having the gear or build and sitting out. Pvp will become the same ole same ole since optimum play requires that optimum spec/gear.
Why are people so afraid of pvp if it is on equal footing? Wouldn't skill dictate the outcome instead of who spent/grinded the most and also encourage more builds?

I don't think it's so much a case of being afraid of equal footing so much as it is not being able to have something to show for your efforts towards gearing.
Let's face it, what we need is ranks and a queue that matches you up with appropriately geared opponents. A seperate queue for Pugs and Premades would be a nice start.

The problem with doing this is bad people are still going to be bad.
Sure gear means something, but a perfect character in the hands of someone who doesn't know jack about PvP is still going to get crushed by people who know what they are doing...
The only fix for inexperience people is more practice. That's it.
No one ever got better in any game by complaining on the forums(not saying you are amadan), just speaking in general.
Gear matter, skill matters, your build matters. I played with a DC with a GS of under 6000 (just had the +1 def pants on lololol) today and to his credit he played pretty well. Still got trashed of course. On the flip side I played with a GWF with a fairly monstrous GS (14k iirc) and he was clueless - not fighting on points, trying to cap the enemy home point (which he was unable to do).
In the end if you have bad gear you'll struggle, if you have bad skills you'll struggle even more, depending on your class - I'd say that TRs and CWs can probably get away with bad Domination skills more than a GF or GWF can.
NW PvP is not generally competitive. When you get a good game, stick with it. Try not to quit early because you never quite sure how the game will develop. If the other side gets half way and you're getting steamrollered then I wouldn't look ill upon you for abandoning it at that point.

Honestly I would've thought that TR's and GWF have the most leeway in terms of error. CW...you're living on the edge. One mistake and you're dead.
In a pug game a decent TR or GWF can still contribute and have fun(if it isn't a total 8k party vs 14k/r10/perfects curbstomp) without much support from the rest of the party, eithe by going perma stealth and grabbing nodes, singling out an opponent to kill or tanking their home node.
In contrast, a CW, GF and particularly a DC work best with a well coordinated party who are covering each others asses...pretty rare if you solo queue.

May I dare to ask: what to do about bots in pvp? (Domination, not GG)

Not to mention it would eliminate any motivation for pure pvp players to create their own new builds since we'd be all "equal" lol
But it would RAISE the motivation to actually getting good, instead of mostly relying on gear. Which in my opinion would create a more respectable PvP community than it is now. I'm sorry, but there are too many kids (I'm talking about the mentality, not the age) out there who have much better gear than skill and think they are something because of this. I'm definately not saying that they are the majority, but they exist. And I think they would pretty much leave PvP with such a change, because most kids aren't willing to spend time to actually learn - they rather press some buttons and win because of gear advantage.
UPD As for GWF sentinel, you either CC him to death or your best is just to run to capture other nodes if you can't kill him.
CC a (Sentinel) GWF to death? You gotta be a troll. I don't think even knockdown-slotted GFs can CC a Sent GWF to death. Except they have much better gear than the GWF...
If you can't kill him, you can't cap pretty much any point he's on.
other companies did just that and some made it to competitive scene. I dare to say that all games that have a large audience on livestreams have this basic rule, people start with equal gear and skill is what decides the winner.

Even though I never understood the need to show off: Show off in dungeons. Not in PvP.
Let's face it, what we need is ranks and a queue that matches you up with appropriately geared opponents. A seperate queue for Pugs and Premades would be a nice start.
It would help, yes. I still don't like the relevance of gear, but since there will NEVER be such a change as equality in gear, your suggestion should be bare minimum.
Sure gear means something, but a perfect character in the hands of someone who doesn't know jack about PvP is still going to get crushed by people who know what they are doing...
I disagree (if you talk about 1on1 and this is how I understand your post). I don't think there is ANY class that with blue or even epic gear, but only Rank 4 / 5 and Lesser / Normal Enchantments can kill a perfect geared player - don't know tactics about PvP or not. If the perfect geared player just has a simple understanding of his powers and a working rotation, the much lower geared player loses. Every. Single. Time.
That's at least my experience - but I'm happy if you (meaning anybody) can give consistent counter-examples.
But I agree if you are talking about a well coordinated (premade) group vs. a uncoordinated (premade) group, and if the perfect geared player is in the latter. In this case his gear won't help his team win.

3 months of gameplay, 2 equal PvPs. The rest have been one-way traffic either for me or against me. There is no parity in this game in level 60 PvP.
PSA: You don't need to grind Spinward Rise for your Elemental artifact main hand if you have some AD lying around. You can craft it via the Tyranny of Dragon's campaign screen.
If there's a bot, I leave. I'm not glory boosting anyone's bot.
Please elaborate on these ''bots''? I've seen so many people moan about them. What are they?

The number of clueless people in perfect and R10, is very low or non-existent. Usually, if you see someone with full 'hard-earned' gear using the PvP builds has usually done his homework and knows what he is doing. Which is enough to get him on top of the average player that is trying to earn that gear.
I enjoy the fact that PvP has its top builds and people need to respect them (know about them, use them, know how to face them) and this is true in every MMO and every game that has a 'competitive' mode.
Started all of my toons in order to use them for PvP. I struggled a lot by testing gear/builds/enchantments until I have something that I like for each. Most of the times the final outcome coincided with the top PvP builds that we all know, but some other times I got something completely different that it worked and used it. Don't know what's the point on whinning when my oppressor gets owned by an amazing rogue, or when my GF is lolstomped by a BiS CW. That's PvP, you win some you lose some. If you get better in the process, then all is good.
when it is 20 ragequitters in 20 matches i have hopes that finally the devs change the whole pvp. it is no fun at all at the moment when you play classes other than trs or gwfs (maxed out in gear of course, with the right builds and right entchants).

Usually TR's dressed in rags, not the unfortunate new L60 dressed in greens with a GS of 5k but literal rags and a GS of 200-500. They usually run straight to node 2 and have a predetermined attack pattern.
Most of the times i got a match with a high geared sentinel tank involved, it was against premades or half premades.
And the problem there is that while the sentinel can keep 3 regulary geared players busy at least, the other 4 enemies are already well geared and strong, Killing everyone else fast.
Few times i got to fight pug regular sentinel tanks, it was not that hard to nullify them, unless your team sucks.
I can often beat them with my hybrid, or stall them, or cap the enemy node.
Very few times i got to face pugging high geared sentinel tanks. They can be a huge advantage for the enemy team, but it's not cause they are sentinels. It's cause their build+gear is far above average, and they know how to use it. I've seen high geared TRs, DCs, GFs and even a destroyer being able to keep the enemy point capped when facing a regular pug.
As usual, i suggest pug pvp and premade pvp separated, with pug pvp queue available only if you're NOT in a Group, plus ranking to separate players.
These are 2 simple things that would reduce the quits mentioned by the OP to almost zero.
So, before complaining about people quitting matches, just ask for a PvP system fix and rework.
Groups should be able to queue only in premade PvP.
Pug queue not available to people already in a Group.
Players divided based on a ranking system.
Simple and fast. They just have to start doing it.
Yesterday. Two ppl leave after the first fight. The three of us stay at the same base and watch the counter. 41...42...and we wait... hopefully the other team is busy somewhere else...finally 100... ok now we can go afk at campfire for fifteen more minutes, doing our fuses and professions while they get their 1000 points on their three unchallenged bases.
PvP should definitely not be like this.
Now about quitters. Also yesterday another PUG vs PUG, this time turned out favourably and quickly we were 5 v 2. They were not quitting. Someone in our team (wasn't me) suggested Hey guys, they don't have their 100 points, let them take one base. Everybody laughed at him and we kept repeatedly killing them as soon as they jumped out of their campfire. What do you think these two people who stayed until the end and got zero reward will do next time? They will quit.
So... I was just thinking about this, just fiddling with this idea of PVP... Now, I'll let you know I am not much of a PVP'er. I mean, I rarely do it. I like the story, I like exploring and etc. So I don't do PVP a lot, but I was thinking of a system like this.
Take the ranking system of the Companions, Every 5 Ranks
20 = 5
30 = 10
40 = 15
50 = 20
60 = 25
And have a separate queue for people in gear that could put them in the final 5(30), as 'EPIC' Tiered.
Okay, now about gear... How about a separate 'armor' tab or something.
Like, you get all your usual slots; except this gear isn't ranked the same way other gear is. Instead its blank gear, for the most part, it'll come in white, green, blue, and purple etc. And can be customized, like put guild insignias or something like that, anything you want or something.
And, in this separate tab, armor isn't ranked the same way. Like, its gear scores are measured in 0.1 to 5.0 and... each piece has a slot for 'PVP Runes or enchants' not the usual in-game enchants. Hm... Like, you could buy these enchants with Glory, Right? Starting at level 20. And slot them on your gear, and there could be special 'Arena, PVP, Gladiator' Styled Skirmishes or something. That could give you better gear to wear with more slots; something like that. And, with these rankings, you'd have to be the proper level, and have the proper 'gear rank'. Like, you could even switch between your PVP Gear, Fashion, and Usual Gear.
And... like, what if, Each tier of gear, had different slots. And you could slot in the effects you want, life drain, deflect, dodge, etc. That sorta stuff, and the gear would have usual stats too. But by slotting a rune or proper PVP enchant onto the item, it'd be boosted, like... White gear. Could have just the usual 1 slot at Level 20? And when you put the proper rune into it, it'd jump up to like 50 or something. It'd be 'buffed' by the enchant or rune, and the system would stop the game play from being lop-sided towards one team or another. Sure, you'd still have the need to grind and work to up your gear, but it would stop the people who just pay pay pay, from being able to outclass everyone else with sheer brute Gear Score. You'd be put in matches against people who are close to your rank, groups can be put in a different tear like was mentioned on here and everything else, It would bring another facet to the game... Or at least, that is what I think.
Now... for all those you who hate this, just remember... its only an idea. So... calm yourself down, its the internet, and its just a thought.
I do that solo in pugs. Just sprint totheir base and win a 3v1. Then they all quit. Got kind of boring tho gwf to op vs pugs

it's 5 v 5. anytime u allow "randos" to participate, there will be rage quitters.
