10 map per quest limit (error) message

There isn't one.

Having wasted so much time trying to figure out why I was getting a Packet Corruption message and getting logged out - while duplicating a map or saving after a duplication - (checking PC, antivirus, firewall etc) it dawned on me that I had 10 maps. Deleting 1 then duplicating caused no problem.

Obviously I'd like something done about the limit, but, failing that, can we at least get some warning that a 10 map limit exists (there is a 10 quest and 10 campaign message) and something that prevents us from trying for 11 rather than just letting us crash.

further test shows that although duplicating a map to produce #11 doesn't work, creating a new #11 does work. No idea if that has any impact but.....

*confused*

Hopefully you also entered this as a Bug Report.

TEN maps? Your subconscious should be screaming out to you that your quest is too long.
Sounds like it should be broken apart into a Campaign with several sub-quests.
How many minutes are you expecting it to take?
Most people won't run a quest longer than about a half-hour.

10 maps for one quest is too many, i'd agree. However, what i worry about, is what happens later in my quest line if i reach that limit? As it is now, we don't have a library for our characters or maps. So, when i make a new quest, i duplicate the last one so that i have everything there. As i keep making more, my map list will grow. I don't delete all the extra maps or characters, because i may use them again later.

    You presume too much. ;)

As you probably know yourself, I might want duplicates to test major revisions to originals or want another map to reflect significant changes to the location since the pc left it. (When a player enters a dungeon, the world they emerge to can change: enter a Tavern at night, emerge in the morning; random encounter while travelling...etc.)
Its my first quest (already looks like a 6-parter) and I chose to explore doing these things with maps rather than other means while I learn.

But anyway, back to the issue. Either it was fixed on the fly or something stupid was going on my end. Just duplicated up to 11 maps to test, without issue - but I'll keep an eye on it.

Ofc, this was after I had deleted maps and encountered wierd and wonderful errors like maps called <missing> or named but empty/unfinished. But it definately felt that these occured because things were being tweaked :s

Was about to say the same but see you have done so. So I will just say ditto!

The limit seemed to apply per Quest so if 10 is too many then its unlikely you'd be affected.

I'll put it down to error bursts on my connection with the server (although error and REIN logs show none) and.....
.......since no one else noticed anything and it went away, bit by bit over a 2hr period, its probably best to file this under PEBKAC. >.<

Stand easy, nothing to see here.
