Does Cryptic not want us to enjoy the story?

Seems like you're forced to skip so much of the content, especially dungeon queues.

You're doing a daily, it takes forever for a skirmish or dungeon to pop, you end up out-leveling your Daily; you can't finish it, because you can't queue for it again, to finish the Daily, as your lvl is too high and it's no longer offered in your queu optoins (unless you sit around at the enclave for hours, waiting so as to not level).

I go to the Ice Spire map, looking forward to seeing the dwarven and ice giant storylines... but apparently I can't get any missions, because I outleveled it before even getting there?

I'm given dungeon party missions that I've already outleveled, and can't use group finder to queue for?

There are so many dungeons -- usually at the climax of a map storyline, and even now an entire map that I've been forced to skip, it's as though we're apparently not even supposed to bother w/ the story.

I think, they should auto adjust our levels for dungeons, like they do on PVP. You should require a scertain level only to unlock the dungeon.

The missions are there. They are just hidden. When you outlevel an area the quests quit showing up. You can still talk to a quest giver and get them though. Ice Spire is really bad about this because the quest givers aren't obvious. I thought Ice Spire was bugged myself at first, later I figured it out.

For example after you do the first couple quests, you have to talk to some dwarf off to the side. He didn't have a quest before, but does later. So if you just talk to him once you think he isn't a questgiver, and don't think to go check him out later. There are also quests that start from objects throughout the zone. Like the gem quest. And a hidden quest that starts from an object inside the first solo dungeon.

If you're higher level you can't see any of that stuff. But you can still interact with it if you know its there.

I thought the Ice Spire quests were gone as well. Finally got someone to share the Rime Hound one to get the map completion and then another person pointed out I had missed talking to someone. I went back and did that and was able to follow the rest of the quest line. The skirmishes are the key to getting completion of the maps. Miss those and all you can do is wait for CTA to roll around. As for the dungeons, don't use the queue even if you're at level. Use LFG or zone chat to find a party. Using the Queue will likely lead to bots in your party. Finding a party on your own increases the odds of finding players who are of better quality, as well.

The story in this game is laughably simple compared to Neverwinter Nights.
So it doesn't really matter either way.

To the OP (skipping past all of the side arguments here): I dislike it, too.

Cryptic has shown to be able to develop scaling content, and they do the same here in some cases (the CTA stuff, for example, can accomodate a group of players from level 6-60).
Why is it that if I want to enjoy a weekend of running nothing but CTA: Pit Fight on a character that they risk being unable to find quest givers any more in whatever zone they were ready for before the weekend began?

Just give out the quests. The XP will be relatively less if the character is over-leveled, they will get that much less for open-world stuff, and for instances they could scale them to level so as to keep them at least fairly challenging to the player.

Those that didn't care could continue to not care.
They could do nothing but foundry or skirmishes or dungeons all day long.

Those that did care could get the story without having to track down what questgivers to talk to in what order and where to find them.

I tried talking to all possible NPCs at the start area. They wouldn't give any quests. (beyond a 2-3 starter ones) I even went up to the next campfire. Those NPCs weren't even clickable.

Knox quest to talk to Bolbin.
    Bolbin's quest.
Vaile Birchsmith at the edge of that camp has 2 quests.
You find a quest from a *book in the SE area. It gives you a quest to find a ruby and bring it back to Vaile.

After you've done those, then Bolbin *should* have 2 more quests that progress the chain.

*The book quest might not be required. Not Sure.

I think the part people miss, is the quest in the first solo dungeon with the goblin king. There is a easy to miss side quest that exposes the human wizard in the camp of collaborating with the enemy, by selling goods to both sides.

Considering the number of folks who seem to hit a wall at the same point in Icespire, I suspect that perhaps that quest is part of the requirements.

Not unless they changed it. I ran several high-level characters through there before I even realized that quest existed.

Now I'm waiting for my kids character to reach this part. So I can try sharing the quest for them to get it. They were able to complete the rest of the area though. Again, its tough if you don't know where all these hidden quests are. And I recently read of other stuff I missed. Like a named rimefire golem that drops a quest. And an adventurer's journal.

I doubt you can share the wizard quest but if you run the dungeon with someone doing the quest, you should be able to activate the crate and get the quest as well.

There are a number of easy to miss quests in Icespire, as well as as more in Tower District, Pirate's Skyhold, the Chasm and Rothe Valley.

Icespire: Aforementioned quest in goblin dungeon, follow the axes to the giant gem, unmarked cave with trolls and a dead messenger, Rimefire Champion, also that big Giant at the top of the mountain drops a quest item.

Tower District: Elemental Weevils, Rod Staff and Ring quest, Many Arrows bounty marker quest.

Pirate's Skyhold: Predator Cave, Judge's Gavel

The Chasm: There's a halfling that wants you to kill Nothic Plaguegazers in one of the mini zones around the Scrying Tower.

Rothe Valley: Killing a Fell Troll yields a book to turn in with the Druid at the start. Bugged so only ONE party member gets it if you're grouped up.

There are probably more I'm not thinking of, not counting the ones where you have to run right past the quest giver, like the Tiefling and the crazy Dwarf in Whispering Caverns.

ETA there's a quest giver with no "!" over his head in the Temple of Kelemvor at Ebon Downs.
