Mount size

I know there have been similar discussions about mount scaling before but nothing recent that I can find. I have a half-orc that is as far as I know the largest you can make any character.

I can't seem to find any images of half-orcs on mounts. I'm considering buying a zen store mount but I don't want to end up looking like I'm doing permanent spinal damage to my mount, as is the case with my starter (5g) horse.

I know the mounts scale to your race, but from what I've gathered some mounts look bad scaled to certain races.

Basically, the bigger the mount the better.

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks

As for first mounts, I always suggest the Stormraider Clydesdale only because of it's cheap price of 2,500 zen.

If price isn't a problem, I would suggest the Armored Bear or Heavy Howler, they seem the most fitting.

Thanks, I was thinking about the Armoured Bear. You're right, it does seem to fit. I still keep searching hoping to find images of each race on each mount but I guess Neverwinter is still a relatively new game.

if anyone wants to get together for an in-game photo shoot for different races on different mounts, PM me. i don't have any half-orcs but i've got a female dwarf, elves and a tiefling for comparison on the heavy howler, the guardian pack's medium horse, the dusk unicorn, the yeth hound... and i have pigs, too. i can't imagine what a male half-orc looks like on a blue ribbon pig.

I have a Half-Orc GWF that rides an Armored Boar. I will post a pic of it as soon as I can.

I have a lady half-orc GF that rides a Waterdeep horse or an armored boar (boar not bear) depending on her mood. She looks fine on both. In general the armored mounts are larger to begin with so they scale better on larger characters. My half-orc gal is pretty big for a female (gotta be muscular to tank after all), but male half-orcs are still bigger yet, so if you've got a dude your safest choice is gonna be something armored/heavy.

If you have a lot of Ardent Coins, the blue-quality white horse from the Vault of Piety might be a possibility (basing this on the fact that it's heavy/armored), but I haven't actually seen one in the game yet. I think my DC wants one but I'm waffling. Anyone have a screenshot of it?

I have an armored wolf that my half orc used to ride but went back to the medium adventurer's horse because the wolf was too small. The horse looks right though. Just wish I could dye the barding.

Owlbear from the lockbox is probably the biggest. Either that or the spider that comes with the $200 pack. Since the owlbear is from a lockbox its not account-wide though. And orcs look pretty goofy on it.

I like the warg. The ones we have access to are tiny though.

And here is the boar, its also one of the larger mounts.

Have a couple more, figured I'd go ahead and show you. They are pretty small though.

    Howler:

And the Yeth Hound. Its model is actually bigger I guess. But it seems smaller since its a bit more skinny than the tiger.

From what I've seen, the only class that changes the size of their mount is the Dwarf, they decrease the size of their mount by about 25%.

I've always wanted to see a dwarf riding a worg, the worg would be sooo small. It'd be hilarious. ^ ^

I have my GWF Half orc on a boar and a bear. He looks best on the bear, but the boar seems more fitting somehow.

My dwarf rides a warg. It's not small on her at all. Looks pretty good IMO.

If upgrading weren't so expensive, I'd definitely go with the boar.

Thanks so much for all the replies and images :) I'm still trying to make my mind up (don't have much spare cash to splurge on zen) but this has been a really big help.

I'm pretty sure that my halfling scales down mounts in a manner similar to dwarves, based on his size in relation to his mount, causing the horse to look somewhat like a pony, which would be proper for both dwarves and halflings.

From a cash point of view, the Stormrider is best, unless you get a pack. Also, I haven't seen any specific info yet, but based on past behaviour of the company I expect a $60 pack will be put out around the same time as Module 2, which will most likely have a new account wide mount in it, so if that isn't above your spending range you may want to see what it is before making a final decision.

I dont think the models/mounts are too big. It actually makes the mounts look more noticeable

Oh, more in keeping with the OP. Here's my half orc on her warg.

    neverwinter15.jpg

As I said, I think it looks too small and usually she rides the medium adventure's horse, despite being a large adventurer.

My Half-Orc is about as big as he can be and looks decent on Armored Boar. I gave up on the Horse because it was looking like the horse was about to crumble underneath him. I saw that the Golden Brindle Horse (80% speed) form the Zen Market is a bit sturdier looking. Does anyone have that horse? How does it look with big Half-Orcs?
