Quest: An Urgent Request (NW-DNXLIDSL3)
Play Time: 19 minutes
Intro: "Help my friend Billy" was a young lad's pleading request on Deekin Street. I should have listened to my instincts but I was a fool for a dirty, street urchin's request that day. I should have taken the hint when he said to bring some friends. I remember thinking; "If you can't handle this alone maybe you shouldn't try handling it all."
This is the intro to the Campaign: Drakemore's Secret (NWS-DTNY8A53M) I would appreciate any further play through and suggestions. It is designed for groups of players. If soloing, you will probably need plenty of potions and kits.
In my next quest, I want to explore using timers. I saw a YouTube video on it but it was only basic, I THINK. In particular, I have an encounter at the beginning of the next quest where I want the player/s to overhear a conversation where a clue is droped. Then do battle.
Another encounter begins with the mob first threatening. When the player/s refuse to leave, he calls some buddies and then attacks.
If anyone has any advice, tips or tricks I would love to hear it.
The original pen and paper version of this quest is composed of five extensive levels. Each level consists of around forty rooms plus interconnecting hallways. It took several hours and several days for the players to complete it then. This worked then, and under those conditions. I don't think it will work in Neverwinter.
After converting just the first level in the Foundry, I had used 49/50 of my room allotment. That was accomplished by subdividing several of the larger rooms. At that rate, I would need to use up another four quest slots. I would very likely have a very long, tedious and thus boring campaign.
Doing a little head math and honing my map creation techniques, I think I could combine them to one map and thus one quest slot. I would probably have to reduce the room count in addition. But overall it would probably make for more enjoyable play.
What opinions and suggestions do you have?
It may not be perfect - YET - but loving Neverwinter's Foundry just the same.
