So, I've gotten experienced/geared enough that when a match starts I can ride my Devoted Cleric on my fast horsie to the center node and help win the initial fight for it. Yay! I lived! Then I try to erase any damage my teammates sustained. Now what, for my cleric, specifically. Should I run with another class to our home? Saddle up and try to take the far point? Stay in the center and try to defend it while healing folk as they ride by? Following my PUG's initial success, I know I'm wasting between 2-5 seconds making up my mind and she who hesitates in PvP really isn't much help.
I am very curious to know the conventional wisdom on what my next move should be. Anyone have an opinion?
If someone else goes back point and no one on their team is already headed there don't go with them. Its never wise to have more than one person flipping an uncontested point, unless it's uncontested because their team is respawning after you killed them. As a DC you are pretty dependent on staying with other teamates to be successful, unless you're the kiting bumping solo point holding kind of DC, so you have to be flexible and try and stick with your teamates.

Thanks for the advice. I cannot hold a point by myself, the best I can do is (sometimes) wrangle with an opponent long enough for someone to come help me finish them off. So, should I gallop after the CW or a fighter?

Look at GCTRL's guidefor clerics in pvp. It gives great insight onto what you should be using to hold points by yourself. I have a link right here for it: http://nw-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?446761-GCTRL-s-quot-Sentinel-quot-Cleric-Tank-for-PvP-25-Deflect-1k-Regen-2kDef
