PvP Tip --- Mounts in PvP

Hey everyone. What is common knowledge to many, falls in the cracks to others.

Mounts in PvP.

Huge mistake to make in PvP, is getting caught ON your mount.

No matter which class you are, if you get knocked off your horse, it makes you proned.

When you are proned, your gear(for the most part), and resistances you may, or may not have, mean absolutely nothing. You will take full damage 99.9% of the time from every single encounter or at-will that is hitting you.

Its literally like giving everyone a free Perfect Vorpal for a fiew seconds and allowing them to fist you while you lay helplessly on the ground.

My advice is when you are confronting an enemy, dismount early. Certain class's/builds, TR for example..with a high dps build and decent gear/skill, will roflstomp you if they prone you from your mount.

As a TR, I use dazing strike and lashing quite often. I'll knock someone off there mount with impact shot, use dazing, hit stealth while in the air then lashing. 9-10 times they never survive, from the 39k sents, to the 4500+defense GF's, to the 40%deflect TRs.

Do not let yourself get proned from your mount.

Most pvp'rs know this, but for those that didn't I hope it helps.

Cheers!

It's amazing how many people I face plant off their mount. It's pretty **** funny too.
Especially when they are on their point in ravenscar and they have an obvious view of me coming yet they stay mounted and then get face planted and roflstompped.

A nice stealth ww on a group of 5 on their point on mounts and faceplant a whole team.

Something you will never see me doing in ANY pvp match..Is standing on a point mounted waiting to cap, or standing still period.

I generally don't even like mounting to chase someone down, as that can backfire against a skilled player.

My range that I will stay mounted is about 80'. Any closer I always dismount for fear of getting proned and slaughtered without being able to do anything.

TRs also run faster than the common horse.
btw, is cancelling stealth by mounting useful?

True, if he has Skillful Infiltrator and Sneak Attack slotted. But not a lot of TR's do that nowadays. That run speed in stealth is one of the most useful gap closers available to us TR's, however.

And yeah I always refrain from using Stealth during the times I don't need it (e.g, no enemies around). Stealth cancel is very useful and it allows you to build up Stealth for when you truly need it.

I use skillful and first strike. Never change them up in any scenario, PvE or PvP.

Bahh, now less people will be easier kill targets.

I have always laughed whenever I see someone sat on a horse while capping, well at least plenty still don't come to the forums, so plenty will still do it and make life easier :)

Another fatal mistake new players make is stacking on each other!

I have some hilarious video clips I need to upload.

My favorite clip is 2 Shotting an entire enemy team.

The entire team was mounted and literally standing right on top of each other capping a node. I used dazing in stealth then whirlwind and down went the entire team.. I then of course proceeded to hump there bodies as they yelled and called me a hacker, lol

This isn't a PvE fight where stacking on the tank or healer is going to help you.

Stacking on each other is bad.....always

Well, not exacly. My TR runs at 49.7% when stealthed. To run faster than a mount you're gonna need at least rank 8 darks and the margin would be very small. Also, you have to run the whole time in stealth, which is not always possible.
