More specifically, Sharandar. With the amount of time spent doing dailies in Sharandar, it is a hassle to return to PE every time mail needs to be collected or sent. They managed to place a box on the Festival grounds for this reason so why not other areas players are parked at for days or weeks at a time? Anyone else agree?

100% agree. Sharandar needs a mailbox. Most of the time I leave all of my toons there and I do not go to PE unless I need something or have to hit the mailbox. I can't think of any other area that really needs one because you only spend a few hours in each zone and once you are done questing in it you don't really need to return (you can, but you don't need to).
Totally agree with this notion. Pushing it further, give a portable mail option with a rough AD cost, something that can be used anywhere and allows a R.AD sink for the excess.
Good idea ukspawn. I keep seeing complaints about too much rough AD. This would be great solution to 2 problems at once, as long as we still get a box in Sharandar.

Any settlement that is stable enough to have a job posting bulletin board is stable enough to be visited by a courier and have a mailbox. Do you realize that this entire world has only 1 courier? How can that little pipsqueak call himself a courier if he never bothers to go anywhere? It's a travesty.

I see 2 things they could do here:
1. Add a mailbox to the starting area of each zone.
2. Add an item to the Wondrous Bazaar which gives you a bugle w/ a certain number of uses - you can sound the horn to call a mail courier on horseback - you can then interact w/ that courier just as you would a mailbox. You can then dismiss them or they automatically expire after a certain period of time.

There is no reason that mailboxes could not be expanded to other areas. There is so much lag in the enclave it's nuts. I'm assuming that more hostile areas would be a little of a non-no, but just put a mail-person in there with two burly bodyguards; this would make it look acceptable to the environment. While we are at it, lets put one in the VIP area in moonstone .
I would like to see a few mini-zones around PE and other areas. These require a campfire, mailbox (or runner), AH attendant, and a minor professions/potions merchant. And to top it off and make it super special, a person to get dailies from.
Even within PE, having an AH rep and a merchant up by the invocation portal (which has the stalls available, and already has a mailbox) would be nice for us invokers.
But in truth, I'd love to be able to pick a zone outside of PE and park them. Way less lag that way.

It would be silly to place mailboxes in the starting area of each zone. If you're already in the starting area, why not just walk through the travel gate and go back to PE?
The mailboxes need to be further along in each zone, like at major restpoints. Every tavern in each zone should have a mailbox, and if a zone doesn't have a tavern, it should be at major restpoints (like one of the larger dwarf camps in Icespire, for instance).
I know it's wishful thinking, but a guild hall that is a group location that you can jump to on the map, including the option to add or upgrade it with Auction House attendants, mail couriers, merchants, Lord Neverember and Rhix representatives, and possibly even a training room like they have in Trade of Blades ... that would be a HUGE improvement.
Anything to get me out of PE every day.

This is why I mainly suggested them in Sharandar. All of the leveling areas are quick completions, so to me a box at the start of the zones is unnecessary. However an area where you can spend days or weeks in, like the Festival, really need a way to access mail without the hassle of traveling back to PE and dealing with lag and extra load times.

when they announced they were putting a mail carrier in the midsummer festival grounds, this was brought up and panderus answered that he couldn't recall why they decided against it. here's the link:
personally, i don't see it as hindering to have to go to PE to gather my mail. but what's next? remote bank access? salvagers at every base camp? hmm...

Well, from an in-game perspective, what's the point of having mail only accessible within the same small section of 1 town? You can already read your mail anywhere, so being able to receive and send attachments, from at least the starting areas, makes sense.

there are mailboxes all over PE. so i'm not sure what you mean by a small section of one town.
just like there isn't a bounty merch or a consumables merch at every campfire... even if a mail courier was located at the start of every map area, protector's enclave is a gate away and the first mailbox is not even 10' away (in game feet, of course).
just seems like an unnecessary addition. i'd rather the devs spend their time on bigger and better things.

Protector's Enclave is a small section of the city of Neverwinter... if you look at the world map, Neverwinter also includes the Tower District, the Blacklake District, the area where 'Spellburst' takes place, the Chasm where you fight spellplagued, Neverdeath Graveyard, and so on...

Well, I think PWE wants you to go to PE for at least 2 reasons:
* see that the world is populated - the game is not dead (if you hang around in Whispering Cavern there are only a few people there)
* see things you can buy/desire/achieve if you spend money and/or time
I go the mailbox to e.g. send my other toon the enchantments I found, because on #4 I collect all the enchants I have. And a regular reminder "if you are tired of walking all the way to town, you can buy a bigger bag for Z€N".
It's a way to reward players that spend money and it punishes the poor - showing the way to salvation.

I totally disagree that Sharandar needs a mailbox. Its such a small zone and the locations where you would put a mailbox are pretty near the portals. There are Zones that are more deserving of mailboxes with suitable locations such as Icespire or Pirates.
Although, its really not that big a deal in an instanced map so I'm not that bothered either way about mailboxes.
PS. Icespire was the zone I disliked most for the travelling. I wish those dwarves would open tunnels between camps rather than bothering with mail. But since there's not much for sale in the Zen Shop they need those mounts to be 'must haves'.
