Any chance we're getting more music?

I would love to have more aviable music to select from for foundries, specially more calm music, like for towns, villages, or fields, there's a good variety of themes for dungeons and bosses, but not all foundries have those, specially if some people want to make story oriented quests, with little to no battles.
Also it would be great if the music menu was fixed so there's no repeated themes with different names.

Agreed. We have one piece for soothing, peaceful music that loops. I've used it a lot, and frankly... i'm kinda getting burnt out on it, and would suspect people who play my quests will be too. :(

Also, why can't there be a voice acting component? There are already tools available for commercial use (Ivona, AT&T Natural Voices, etc.). volunteer amateur actors who are willing to donate their time

This is another thing that bugs me about this MMO. Sure you can create content in the foundry but any dialogue is freakin' text only??!!
I don't know about some you but I personally get sick of reading freakin' text.

Never gonna happen. How would it even be possible for a small team of people to actually listen to ALL the voice-over dialog created by 2 million subscribers to make sure none of them think it's funny to swear or be obscene 4min 37sec into their Orcish Chieftan dialog.

How? Just like you have in these forum with volunteer moderators, simple! There are also profanity filters you can utilize for voice.

    1. Also you would can make as one of the provisions for submission NO PROFANITY (If violated, they would not be allowed to submit any further content and the module would be rejected) and have a list of words to filter and not to be included.

    2. You could also have a rating system.

    3. Provide transcript of dialogue text (Something that is simple using a voice to text program)

I really don't see the problem with implementing this system utilizing a team of volunteers.

Here is another piece of logic for this argument....
The text is already right before your eyes and OBVIOUSLY no profanity is allowed, then what the heck is the difference if someone voice acts the text as well???

    ^ This.

I have an idea: Let us upload our own music. And then, you can ADD A REPORT BUTTON to Foundries, to alert the devs of any explicit things the Author did not warn about.

Also, there are already companies that will verify whether this music is owned/copyright. I use it for my own music (Myrightsview.com) and all of the major sites like Spotify, Youtube, Bandcamp utilize companies like this to verify and protect themselves from copyright infringement.

I really hope that Cryptic will implement a system for voice over dialogue text in the Foundry.

^ By that, as long as we aren't getting real money for it, and post it in some credits shown at the end of the Foundry, I think it would be fine to use others' music, as long as it falls under the educational/entertainment use laws. Some record companies bypass that law, which they shouldn't, but most don't.

    Or...

If Cryptic would fix the existing listings they have to include all music that was supposed to be there originally. There is a lot of duplicated stuff and a lot of music that just doesn't play/exist too.

Oh yea, custom made music would be totally awesome, I'm a composer and VG music is one of my fav things to do.
I would love to be able to upload my music to my foundries aswell.
Probably never going to happen though, it would be though to have someone checking for all music uploaded for copyright violations or profanities. I guess a strict ToS clarifying it and a report foundry option could solve it.

I agreed that there would have to be an agreement between the uploader/composer for music with Cryptic but it would be like any agreement that you make with Spotify, Bandcamp. I sure their TON's of compotent composer's (like yourself) and voice actors that be willing to contribute music and their own voice, royalty-free for the betterment of the game. I know I would.

I would LOVE more music options, and more than just more "boss fight" style music. I know, it's a combat-centric game... but foundries expand that boundary quite a bit. Would be lovely to have some lighter, more peaceful stuff.

Also, not saying uploaded UG-music isn't an awesome idea, but I think it's beyond scope of what Cryptic is probably willing to host/provide.
Can't hurt to ask, but imo it's not the most important feature we're lacking either >.<

Agreed. While I'd absolutely love it, I know that's probably asking too much of Cryptic because it opens up licensing issues.

It's called "Helms Hold Cathedral," and also "Sacred Pool" i believe. Same music, just different names for it. The "Lute" music is nice too, but not very loud, can barely hear it. There's a "Tavern Amb(ience)" with lute music that's nice, but not looping, so it ends pretty soon.

Highly doubt any new music will be added anytime soon. You seen sharandar music? its all recycled from the release stuff. Maybe wai ttill next expansion.

I have posted this before but will post again here. You have to realize that all images and sound in the game exist in the downloaded client on YOUR computer. To allow for author sound or image resources would require that cryptic package those resources and download them to all clients playing the game. This needless to say starts to involve questions of rights and ownership. It also would involve a tremendous effort on the part of the Q/A team in packaging and testing. Further the current resources are reused constantly. To go to this degree of effort for a single quest does not give that much bang for the buck. Even if a piece is used in more then one quest, the value proposition does not wash. Further, as quests are removed and new quests added the client becomes bloated and eventually unstable. I know people will pick, pick, pick bits of this apart, but ultimately it comes down to managing these major points and if I were Cryptic, I know I wouldn't even start to go there.

Having more music in the foundries would be cool, but I think we have plenty available to us already.

I'd love to have more variety of music in the game. I understand that it's not possible to have custom Foundry music or speech because of the fact that it has to be on client-side. (Think of the extra time it would take to download custom files before you could get into a Foundry mission.) But what I would like to see is "music competitions" on the website somewhere, where people can upload music they've made, and players can vote on it, and the "best" music gets incorporated into the game as additional music possibilities (i.e. becomes part of the client).

More out-of-the-box thinking is friendly to the f2p design. Ways to monetize what players do naturally (i.e. make stuff, mod, etc.), so that both they and the developers can get a cut, etc., etc.

I wish they would at least fix the music in the foundry, half the music either doesn't play at all of is repeated from another one. :(
there are 4 tavern ambience music, and only the 4th one works... :(
