Title says it all...
Been here a while but never posted...gotta say I've read enough doom on these boards.
Levelled every class to 60 except DC, doing that now and in the last 48 hours ran Mad Dragon and Idris. Both runs had rage quitters, Mad Dragon had a very loud and opinionated GF, Idris had a TR who insisted on going after the second boss before the shards were down, then he quit after his who knows how many deaths.
Both runs were completions. MD me and the TR who took a hammering of abuse from the GF took down the boss after the GF was our second rage quitter, amazing what a DC, CW and TR can do with no distractions. Although his PM towards the end telling me he couldn't "make it work" was priceless after he quit and we were about to down the boss!, and did;)
Idris one of two TR's who could not be told to down the shards before going after the 2nd boss, he rage quitted after our third foray into that room resulted in him going down after the boss with the group after the shards. I do suspect given his character name a language barrier may have been involved. It took a party wipe to clear the levels of undead but Idris fell on the first attempt mainly due to the GF who kited the two hulk's around till the end (with a resurrect, but he earned it dammit!).
What's the point of all that? I have played DDO for many years and avoided healers for the flak they get, decided to turn a new leaf with this game and cannot descried the sense of achievement in these two delves I have had getting to completion. I have truly felt like I was contributing towards a group effort with the heals I was giving and the AOE I threw out. I especially want to point out to anyone considering a DC that the emotional reward for a successful run is a huge buzz.
You sat back and watched the battle enfold and reacted to it. The GF, GWF and TR were in the middle and really didn't see everything that happened. The CW is almost like the DC in that you run around on the periphery throwing your powers in where you see it needed, but only the DC is looking at that and at your fellow party members and their HP's, and where will those Chains be most effective, and that Flame Strike! And if I hit Divinity now and throw the mobs away will the GF be
@#$%^& off! WHO CARES! Throw it anyway!.....
If you lasted to the end of this wall of text I thank you, and would just like to say I think I might just be a healer convert, although the GWD is just around the corner, hmmm the GF with all the attitude would be fun in that one....;)

Ummm no, I don't think I patted myself on the back at all, unless to talk about the high I got from getting to the completion of the dungeon's in question whilst seeing party member's quit and give up, whilst those of us remaining fight on and win. I want to put a good story out there for the neverwinter community on players having fun in the game.....if you prefer the usual negative thread on the state of the game or what "exploit" is ruining it for the masses, feel free to ignore me...above all else have fun....
@OP: I hear you loud and clear. I used to play Lord of the Rings Online a lot, and stuff like this happened frequently. I got kicked from groups because I was a guardian (once a tank, always a tank, I guess...) because I refused to use a shield. But where's the fun in playing by the rules all the time? Of course I did my tanking when I needed it, but when there were other tanks around, I was (and still am, as a GF) more than happy to let them do the tanking. I'm more of the stick around in the background kinda person. I don't care about who gets the most kills, or who does the most damage. I care about having fun. That's why I always charge across the extending bridges in Craigmire as soon as they are released, and why I always charge into a group of enemies and hope the team can help me out. (use that one with caution, though. I'm not an idiot, even if I act like one.)
I run Devoted Cleric as my main. The Devoted Cleric is the Leader class, so you should be proud when the group accomplishes its goals.
Neverwinter is a great game and I've had a lot of fun with PUGs and teaming up with random people while soloing.
DC is also a bit powerful as you will be party leader in Dungeons which gives you ability to kick party members. I have only used this rarely but it is good to know if you have someone causing problems.
If I've run a dungeon before I try let everyone know plan for bosses, what to avoid, what to target, makes it much easier particularly first timers.
My favorite dungeon is Throne of Idris and once it was been down to me & GF to finish Idris. It was rare but I got killing blow on Idris while GF was agroing the ads,
I
Looking for a guild for PvE Dungeons to suit AEST evenings
I had some arguments before about the DC inability to deal damage, but after making one myself, i can say they can be a terror DPS classes once their armor penetration gets fixed. However, they are more effective as tanky/healers but i need to test that .
Don't breed please .
Wut?
Just want to point out that simply because Cleric is listed as a leader class. Does not in any way make it default group leader. Group lead is the person who formed the group in premades, or selected randomly in queue pugs. It has zero to do with class.
I'm playing a TR, I always play rogues in MMO's and this one has been my favorite rogue since I left WoW.
It's nice to see threads like this one, nice to see I'm not the only one enjoying the game
