I enjoy trying to make my character look unique by changing the designs and colors of their gear and clothing. It is one aspect I love about the game.

That said, I would love:

1) To be able to change the design and color of Companions equipment/clothing, to show that they are part of my entourage. Much like Knights had Squires in the same colors as theirs.

2) To be able to change the design and color of a Mounts Tack and Armor, to match or compliment my characters designs and colors. Much like the Knight had his Destrier all bedecked in his colors and heraldry.

3) To change the colors of my weapons, especially a Control Wizards Orbs, and Devoted Clerics Symbols. Having something closer to your characters look, would be so nice, instead of something that clashes completely.

Best thing of this, is it would be a constant AD drain to get the extra Dyes, as well as to Transmute their existing stuff to more closely match your characters.

    1) Could be fun, but I suspect it would take a heck of a lot of work. The companion skins are just that. Skins. Changing the color of companion clothes might be possible (good luck with pets, though), but is more work than it's worth.

    2) More or less the same as the last point. The mounts don't have 'clothes' the way we do, so changing tack- and armor color means changing the color of the skin itself. Might work, but I wouldn't count on them bothering.

    3) Now this I really want to see. Not sure I want a 'free for all' thingy, though, where anyone can use any color. I would much rather have colors tied to tiers, so more awesome weapons can have more awesome colors. A white sword is pretty much useless, so I want it to look useless, too. When we get purple swords, we should be allowed to use purple dyes, to make them look really awesome and unique.

yeah... companion skins are already designed to get better with level. customized with colors... with such a wide variety of companions, this seems like it'd be difficult to do.

i've thought how i'd love to be able to change my mount's armor or the colors... perhaps you could socket mounts with different appearance items. could be fun!

you can already change the colors of your weapons. right click on your weapon and click on change appearance. with that window open, open your inventory and drag and drop your dye into the open slot. you should be able to do this on the first try. if you change the dye, it may tell you that you cannot do it. all you'd have to do is close the change appearance window and start over if that happens. have fun!

I tried changing the color of my sword, but it didn't actually do anything. The shield works, though. :)

if you use a base color, it may not do much but if you use a dye pack, you may have better results.

I would love to just be able to change my Man at Arms (LvL 30) shield. Having a wooden shield with heavy plate armor looks just wrong.I wonder if the Devs can do something about it.I do not know which thread to ask them.

So are our characters "Skins" and we can make a multitude of add-ons and changes to them. Simply allowing color changes would be a first, but being able to transmute clothing/armor to them would be awesome.

Seems you had a different result than I did. I tried, and got a message saying "Weapons cannot be dyed!"

I've been able to dye my cleric's symbol and my CW's orb, though these may have been bugs. I get the "cannot dye weapons" message on my GWF. I was able to dye my GF's shield and sword w/o issue though.

I would love to be able to dye my companion's clothing - even if it was restricted to humanoid companions only.

Forget what i said, i should not give instructions about this. As long as it isn't clear if this is a bug or not.

    My bad, i apologize.

Cryptics other titles allow for full customization of your character. Full customization options for their games is/was one of Cryptics selling points, not sure why they left it out on Neverwinter. As sockmunkey has said you can play Champions Online and never see a character duplicated and Star Trek allows for full customization of your bridge officers as well as your ship.

The dye bottles, poor customization of armor, weapons, clothing, hirelings, and mounts as well as your own character falls way below the normal standards for a Cryptic game.

The need to add here what they have done on the other titles and any changes need to be bought with in game currency, we need to use gold for something other than potions/kits.

I 100% concur with the statement. If they had the same customization as their other games they will have much more gamers flocking to this game.

here is the official word from andy velasquez, lead developer for cryptic:
    Question from DreamHuntressX
future (hope soon) to add more customization options, like new hair models, vanity items (as of the elven regalia)?
    ---
    TheSquez: hey dream huntress
    DreamHuntressX: Hi :)
TheSquez: sooo do you hunt my dreams? or do you hunt me in my dreams?
    Dragostini: Hahaha.
    DreamHuntressX: xD
    DreamHuntressX: wont tell :p
TheSquez: oh yeah we totally want to get to more of these
Dragostini: I apologise DreamHuntressX it seems your question got cut off, can you ask it in full for us?
TheSquez: vanity items have more coming online pretty regularly
TheSquez: whether it be from Zen market releases or various event rewards
DreamHuntressX: So, i wanted to ask if theres any chance to add more customization sets in NW
TheSquez: things like hair and face options is on our radar to do as well
DreamHuntressX: Honestly, IMHO, it lacks the variety we found in Co and STO :/
TheSquez: yeah. thats certainly valid criticism
TheSquez: i worked on STO pre launch ( i was employee # 4 on that project i think...)
TheSquez: and yeah, those games did have more
    DreamHuntressX: Nice :)
TheSquez: NW's design limited us in a way
TheSquez: b/c we are much more item driven than those titles were
    DreamHuntressX: Still pretty awesome
TheSquez: so we put a lot of our dev effort into making awesom armor, monsters etc
TheSquez: that being said we do want to go back in and add more hairs, eyebrows, etc
TheSquez: its just going to have to be measured against allof the other awesome things we want to do
TheSquez: like new classes, races, etc.
TheSquez: but if i hear enough of the requests then i'll make it happen. So keep raising your voices for what you care about
DreamHuntressX: Nice wish the best of luck :)
