The red spot is wrong, it hits you when your not on it because of where his arm is, he pulls towards you and where his arm is pulling is where it actually should be.
Just thought it might be a good thing to quickfix because of how difficult this boss can be for new people.

I couldn't get a better picture but the red spot could be behind his back but he will be facing me and i'll get hit by the spell he casted.
