Ideas to improve our game and Positive feedback

First off, I enjoy your game. You game is good but it could be GREAT. You can do so much better. I challenge the devs to improve upon their game.
I offer some suggestions to possibly help you with this. I have played more MMO's than I care to remember since 1998 and believe I can offer valuable feedback . These are my idea's what I think could make the game more FUN.
Listen to your community player base please before it is gone like so many other MMORPGs. If you do that, the money will roll in, players will build relationships, and become long time players.

Part 1: Ideas to improve the game

1. Add a cooking/food profession.
~ Lots of possibilities like making food for pvp only.
~You could make fishing part of the profession.
~Add some fishing spots in old zones. Fishing in old zones as you level that skill could help you re-visit lower zones
~Unique foods for all kinds of different buffs could give level 60's something to have fun with.
~Hunting could also be a part of cooking. Add mobs to each zone to hunt for skins, meat, etc.

2. Add ability to summon 1 passive companion (stone or cat) and 1 interactive companion( tanking pet, healing pet, dps) at the same time.
~You could charge AD for this ability. 200k seems reasonable.
~ Increase the companions ability to survive by about 15% more. They die way too fast.
~ More pets=more $$revenue for your game
~ Helps to offset the high degree of difficulty of your dungeons when running pugs

3. Revamp your Zen Store to lower prices.
:p
~Your game feels like a huge money grab. Your charging outrageous prices for items.
~ Other than the Guardian Pack for $60, I believe you have overpriced your game items.
~Epic mounts should be around $10. In fact cut the price of everything by at least half or more and I would be willing to bet you would actually make more money not less because you would end up having more players able to spend a little money.
~You alienate your fanbase when you cater to 1 group of players willing to spend $100 or more for a few virtual items.
~Change the cost of respeccing to a little gold and a much small amount of AD. I really want to try other combo's but it costs too much.

4. Make a combo value pack that gives extra bank space, 3 respec tokens, 3 coalescent wards, 1 extra character slot, and 1 epic mount of your choosing, and 250K AD.
~ Charge around $50 for it. I know this would cause all the other items on your zen store to be overpriced but that's what they are, OVERPRICED.

5. Reduce the cost of removing enchants/runes at the top end (epic) quality
~I realize you must have a way to remove AD from the market to avoid inflation but you went overboard.
~rank 10 should be 100k, 9-90K, 8-80k.
~Perfect 200k, greater 150k, etc.
~Prices are so high right now I could not afford to ever use my hard earned enchants on an upgraded armor set which is very demoralizing.

6.Add random Zone bosses
~Make each zone have at least 3 different random rare bosses that would take around 20-25 players minimum (at zone level) to beat in 15 minutes.
~Make the boss spawn in the instance with at least 30 players. If less than that no boss would spawn.
~ This encourages players to find zones with more players and to team up.
~Rare Boss drops could be unique cosmetics, T1 or T2 item, coalescent wards, or even epic mounts. Be creative!
~Base the chance for loot of your already used system of Copper, Silver, Gold, and add in a platinum bracket.
~Base the bracket you earn off how much you dps, BLOCK, and heal.
~Give a chance for rares based on your bracket like copper 1%, silver 2%, gold 4%, platinum 6%
~Make aoe heals work on anyone in that area up to 10 players, not just your group
~Make the drops from these events BoE please to encourage geared players to participate.

7. Make 1 extra Huge map for level 60 players. No extra instances. Everyone is in the SAME instance just in this map.
~I like the small zone maps you have because it keeps players from having to constantly spend time traveling and you run into other players. However I want to feel like I am in an open world sometimes and miss those large zones. I feel claustrophobic playing this game at times.
~ Did I say Huge yet? 1 single instance of this map for all players. I want to explore and travel in it.
~Add several zone random bosses.
~Add large lakes for fishing
~Add many zone-wide events. Use your imagination. Not just kill X mobs in a time limit.
~How about a zone wide fishing event? Reward could be a kick butt fishing pole with cool graphics.
~How about turning the entire map into a giant PVP map for 5 minutes randomly. EVERYONE becomes killable except in your group! How fun would that be? You could give out cool titles for winning instead of loot.
~How about zone wide GM event where the GM controls a well known neverwinter character and everyone in the zone has to stop a massive invasion force with bosses. If you loose, the entire map is overrun by mob X until they are cleared out. I want a massive battle with my fellow players.

8. Add 1 power ability to my bar.
~I don't think this would overpower my character. I believe it would increase the different builds. Variety is a good thing. This would make Pugs a tad more forgiving.
~The current amount is so small that it makes playing a bit boring waiting for the next ability to pop up. It would also add some challenge to figure out which power to use next. I like choices.

9. Stop overnerfing every class.
~I want each class to have an ability that everyone says "yeah that ability is awesome and OP. Every class.
~When you dull down these abilities you make the characters feel bland and their abilities don't feel as unique. It becomes just another skill X that does bland damage. How fun is that?
~I realize some abilities when you first make a game become far too powerful but from what I have seen, your dev team overreacts and nerfs them to a near boring point. Small changes are always better for your player base. Don't destroy the skill. Just grind it down a tad.
~When you make a build with a specific skill in mind and then nerf it to oblivion, you FORCE the player to respec which again costs far too much.

10. Stop trying to balance PvP with PvE.:
~This has never worked in any MMO. Its tired old thinking. STOP it. It simply is too difficult and frustrating to try and do both.
~If something is OP in PvP simply lower its ability IN PvP. Not a straight up nerf that affects both PvE and PvP.

11. Fix your bugs faster please.
~ How long does it take to fix a known bug like the multitude of known bugs in the Valindra/dragon fight?
~I notice you are VERY fast to fix a bug that could make the fight much easier but it takes 10X as long to fix a bug that causes the fight to be TOO hard. A little more balance in your priorities please.

12.A zone for player housing.
~ Another source of income for your game
~You could add random drops for decoration in the game. Fishing trophies. Monster heads. Limitless possibilities.
~Make the zone up in the sky accessible from inside Protector's enclave.

13. Add the expansion classes soon please.
~I know Ranger is the most likely class but we could really use another healing class. Its a huge bottleneck waiting for healers all the time.
~You could make the new healing class do less healing than DC but more buffing for short durations to give it some distance from the DC class.
~A dedicated Pet class or DoT class is something many players would love to try.

14. Make the game accessible to my friends that are physically handicapped.
~I work everyday with the physically handicapped such as muscular dystrophy and MS and by not allowing click to move and free mouse look you have eliminated any chance they will ever have to play your game.
~They have money and are willing to spend if you were able to at least give them the option to change the game interface. Most of them use a headmouse to move the cursor but can only move 1 or 2 fingers and need to use the on screen keyboard to perform other functions.

15. Make a GF a more wanted class.
~I am in no way saying I want a tank absolutely necessary for every instance and fight but your game is built to where they are almost never needed anymore.
~I like not having to always have a GF in every group but why even have the class if you are going to make them completely unnecessary.
~ Increase their defense base, aggro, and a few more hps.
~ Spice up there dps line the conqueror line to add passive group buffs that add damage to the entire group to where groups would love to have them
~Add passive group buffs to their tank (protector build) that lowers damage done to the entire group.

16. I want to be able to bring in another player to a dungeon run if someone goes LD or drops.
~How fun is it to get all the way to the boss only to have someone leave or go LD. Let me reque or invite someone to join my group.

17. Ability to upgrade T2 or T2.5 armor through your profession.
~You can already upgrade the arms slot. After that I was pretty much done with platesmithing. We should have the ability to upgrade the rest of the armor through your profession as well.

Part 2: Positive feedback

1. I like that their is NOT a raid dungeon. I know many players want it but it encourages bigger guilds with players you barely know and the rewards are for so few. I hope you stick with the single group format. There are plenty of MMOs out there with tons of big guild raids. To me, that is not what the neverwinter setting is about. The books and lore are mostly focused on small tight knit groups of people.

2. I enjoy the way you have implemented crafting in this game. It takes a while to do the crafting but doesn't take up a lot of MY time. Brilliant.

3. I enjoy running Malabogs Castle because it is short, fun, and can be challenging and doesn't take a couple hours like CN. Good job. It also doesn't have the same 8000 adds like most of your boss fights. Just fix the last fight so it isnt so buggy:P

4. Not having way too many huge zones that become empty after a few months post launch. Your way of using multiple small zones with several instances works. You still need 1 huge zone though:)

5. The action and fighting in NWO is fun. I like not having to mash and choose between 40 different skills and buttons on a hot bar. I like the positioning and moving in a fight. It doesn't feel like a typical MMO where you engage mob and just hit X. There is constant movement and strategy.

6. The $60 guardian's pack is a good value and it gives a top speed mount on every character. Good idea. Now rework the rest of the zen store.

Phew long read heh but excellent post. .

1.I definitely want cooking in some fashion in the game to make food. Not sure if they would implement any type of fishing done with your character since everything seems to be done through your crafters but I wish it was in the game to help with the boredom because I always enjoyed it in every game I played.

    2. So 2 pets one that is passive and one that fights or heals would make things interesting. Not sure if I could afford to even gear out another pet for a while but sure why not and PW would make more money for sure.

    3. Dont get me started on Zen prices. 40 dollars for one of those mounts the dusk elk or whatever is outright stupid. If they are going to charge insane amounts then at least add some more speed to it. But yeah I would spend more money if they would lower the price of common items we can actually use. For now I refuse until they go on special or drop the price by more than half.

4.That's a lot for $50 compared to their other items but would be a great deal anyone can use. That's why PW would never allow it. You could also include the player housing in this pack that you mentioned.

    5. Right now I am scared to even go above rank 6 on any of my toons or accounts because of that very reason. They reduced it recently but not nearly enough to make it worth my while. I know they need a way to remove AD but ouch! WAAAAY too high

6.The zone boss sounds similar to what we had in Rift and I really enjoyed those battles. The random zone wide pvp event would be a lot fun. I would want a little more reward than a title though. Maybe some chance at T1 T2 pvp gear for doing the best? You also have to make the drops NOT BoP otherwise most geared players wouldn't even bother.

    7. I miss the wide open zones of LOTRO. You are right about the zones getting empty though if there are too many. They would have to limit how many large open zones they actually make. But if it is a single instance, it should become THE place to hang out and have fun. This is a great idea devs! Please consider this.

    8. I would want at least 2 powers because right now I hate having to choose from so little options during the fight.

    9. My main was GWF. Was...I hate it now. switched to CW and restarted but if they nerf that too much I'm pretty much done. The game was already tough if doing pugs and by nerfing so many classes lately they just made pugs not fun. It is very difficult to gear up for the dungeon that gives you that better gear.

    10. I don't PvP much but I know what you are saying. Just leave my PvE stuff alone.

    11. Nuff said.

    12. Knowing PW, a bland house would cost 10000 zen and come with nothing. If it came as part of your value package then yeah I would be willing to shell out 50 bucks for all that.

    13. If they add Ranger you know they will design even more boss fights requiring ranged attacks. I really want a ranger class but I have a feeling we will have more of the last boss fight in MC where you need a ranged class to shoot something fast which I don't like forcing you to get an exact group makeup. and yeah we need more types healing classes asap.

    14. Wouldn't know about handicapped accessibility and have never thought about an MMO like that but I know it would really suck not being able to move much and then on top of that you can't play a game at all because of the interface. Glad you brought it up.

    15. Don't get PW's attention because they will only nerf classes when they look at your class. Never buff. I agree though. I have a 45 GF and they need to get some love from the devs.

    16. This is standard is so many other MMORPGs and to not have it in NWO is nothing short of laziness by the devs IMO. This should have been in the game from day 1. Really bad job planning.

My positive feedback is that I like the graphics, I have fun playing with other guild members , but this game needs serious work or it will fail sooner rather than later.

I doubt you will get much feedback from the devs on your post unfortunately. It is some great ideas borrowed and original and they could increase the player base if they would implement even a few of them. The problem is like most companies, PW seems to be concerned far too much with making as much money as fast as they can and I don't feel they are in the game for the long term. I hope I am wrong. We will see how many comments from devs you actually get back that are over 5 words in their replies.

Thanks for the reply. Good point about making items NOT BoP when doing zone wide events so geared players will have something to shoot for. I will add this to my main post.

I agree on most points. A very good read actually.

Currently 60 on 3 charrs. with the gear i want for them, and i have nothing to do. It would very nice with some new instances, new content, new tier gear. Fury of the Feywild was a big dissapointment. The new content dosent actually drop epics. Why would anyone run it then? I really dont get it. Just to farm the fragments? Well buy them off AH, since everything in this game can be bought.

Yes, my next point. To the actuall gamers, that spend their hard earned AD, that keep the population up, that grind and farm so the ZEN buyers have something to buy off the Auction House, we have no rewards. We have nothing to show for. Because everything we obtain in the game, can be bought by some 10 year old girl. You will lose your core gamers, if you dont give us something to grind for, and i dont mean AD, i mean instances/dungeons that actually drop epics worth having.

Also, the two "hardest" dungeons in the game, the dragon breath is bugged, makes me wanna do it even less.

Well, alot of critc your way, but sometimes i feel that you dont read **** from here. Other then that i agree with OP, this game has great potential if you are in it for the long run. So please dont make it seem like you just want quick money

DEVS! Please read this thread, you can improve your game alot !

I love this game, and it makes me sad to see it go down the drain so quickly, and it will unless some changes like these are about to come

Just fix the extreme lag and I'll be real happy everything else can/should wait. What's the point of new classes when you can't even play the game?
    Queen of Dragon Server
    Goddess Uniique, lvl 60 DC.
    PinkSugar, lvl 60 CW.
    Baby Cakes, lvl 60 GWF.
    *******, lvl 60 TR.
    Premium Juicebox, lvl 60 CW.
    Pink Exxxtacy, Ranger

There is NO pvp in Neverwinter.

See what I mean when I mentioned you probably wouldn't even get a single dev response? To the OP, you wrote a great article that I am guessing took a lot of time and the devs/public relations haven't bothered with a single response that could take them 30 seconds. I know there's a ton of threads and they cannot respond to all of them but threads that are well written and give good feedback and suggestions should be at least commented on.
Look at what is important to them. This new charge rewards program. I guess they are trying to be like the Discover card of online games. They give us some poorly thought green pets and a mask if we spend lots of money. Seriously who actually thinks that is a deal? I would have enjoyed hearing more about how they hired someone else to fix the long existing bugs with all the money they apparently are making off mounts.
Speaking of mounts..how many people do you have designing mounts? It must be an entire team dedicated to that the way you churn them out and you have what 1 person trying to fix every bug in this game. Priorities. We know what PW's are and find it lacking.

Some really excellent points OP. This game needs much love.

Would like to see Guild halls that you could visit before deciding to join - open evenings even - could be fun RP that.

Making companions account-wide as well as mounts would be nice. Or the ability to unbind and transfer to another character on the same account.

Drop the Zen shop prices, transmute prices, removing enchant prices - too high. And worst of all, the mount/companion training costs. That price structure is so unbelievably bad that take-up figures must be horrible. Would love to know the number of training tomes bought versus numbers of mounts/companions in existence. Less is definitely more in this case.

Use locations in Protectors Enclave for more specialist shops. The Sage's shop seems wasted on just Lore items - let it be a source of magic components/items/crafting etc.

There is a lot of things to be done that will improve player experience and immersion - this would lead to more cash input. Happy people spend more, it's a proven business fact.

You have some good ideas. to make this game better, they have to fix all the dungeon exploits. you should never be able to make a boss suicide and never ever fight them, thats just ridiculous, and it lowers the quality of players in this game IMHO. Its pretty bad when people only spam for speed runs, or if your guild is short one dps the responses are always are you doing a speed run, if not no thanks.. just make all dungeons impossible to glitch/bypass fights.

also improve alchemy... allow a potion to remove revive sickness is a good start

There are some really good responses and ideas from you guys. Thanks for the replies and for taking time to read my post.

To Xenotorch~The guild hall idea. That is a truly awesome one. I could see what kinda kills the guild I am considering joining has accomplished. Or take it a step further and in the areas for guild housing it can be used to recruit players when they walk by and see the accomplisments.
~Making the mounts account wide would definitely garner some good feedback from most players considering how much money PW wants to charge for them.
Skylher~agree about alchemy. It has a lot to be desired. I got up to rank 12 and finally decided why bother. The remove sickness potion is another great idea that would be practical and helpful without being overpowering.

Most gaming companies have rules that prevent devs from responding to threads directed at them. Or a dev may have a personal rule against it. This applies to all threads, constructive or otherwise. Especially threads with titles that start or imply "Devs Improve our game NOW!!!!" Not the case here, just an example. This doesn't necessarily mean it's a lack of interest. A simple rewording of this thread may open it up for a dev response.

On-topic, fishing is the worst game mechanic ever introduced in MMO's. Boring and pointless, waste of valuable programming time.

Fix Fix Fix the dungeon exploits

Stop cranking out Mounts that only a handful of people can possess in the realms. If you do make a special mount that is listed as Rare: aberrant, immortal in the MM give it a limited time of purchase or raise the Drop frequency to one percent or less.

Fix the frigging foundry you can still only make the most mundane modules, give us options for NPC's to interact with each other the ability to make cut scenes, make the whole toolset less clunky and crash ridden and for god sakes give us more assets.

Give us more character and companion customization.....this is so far removed from any Cryptic game that it's embarrassing.

Is it really that hard to sit in chairs or in tavern booths? When a I make a foundry mission it sorta sucks that everyone is standing in these places.

Give us places to explore, honestly the game loses a lot of depth without it.

How about letting our companions ride mounts instead of just disappearing or running alongside us when we ride?

Auto dismount on the AH platform and when you are in front of a vendor or mailbox just do it.

I agree with everything the OP posted and I would add a few more things as well.

-More character customization that we can do with in game currency. Extend this to hirelings and mounts. Remove dye bottles and give us a color palette. Give us a in game vendors where we can customize our gear using in game currency.

-I would like to see a parry ability added to those classes that use weapons, tie it in with the stamina bar and it only blocks dmg in a small arc in front of character. Parry can not block aoe, ranged dmg or say a swing from a giants club. Add a mystic/spiritual shield ability to the DC and CW classes that blocks aoe dmg but is weak against single attacks. This would add another element in combat increasing its scope to make things more exciting.

-Add the D&D racial abilities such as low light vision for elves and add elements within the game where they will be useful.

-Add elements within game where abilities such as a constitution check for poison or dexterity check for crossing a narrow span can be used.

-Add class abilities such as picking locks for thieves or reading languages for mages and make them pertinent to game play.

That's all I can think of for now but if more comes to mind I'll add them in another post.

I am new to these mmo games but after reading this I have to agree.
I also think each race needs to start in a different area and not everybody be on the same side, I may be new to this game but I am not new to the forgotten realms, I have been a fan and avid reader and D&D pencil and paper gamer for years and unless you are Drizzt I don't see the drow being so nice as to fight on the side of the humans, it just doesn't sit right with me.

Drow are a bit more dimensional than the Simon Legree Mary sues they were back in the late 70's. Also just because a player doesn't have to go through the process of fighting their way to the surface doesn't mean that they didn't, your character is an Adult when you started the game, who knows what they endured before arriving on the beach. With that being said one of the few things TESO does right is not place each character in the same starting area, it's why emergent game play works so well because modern players need that immersion. I hope that going forward they can do something to mix up how we start our characters and how we play out the campaign.

I agree with about 90% of the OP (personally I would not spend time fishing did that in FFXI and not how I want to spend my MMO time anymore, and I find that my GF is in demand and quite useful. More party-wide buffs like Into the Frey would be nice.).

I would add that PWE/Cryptic needs to get MUCH better at communicating what their plans and priorities are.

Agreed. This is the their biggest problem.

I think that, yes, the devs need to at least make themselves more visible on the forums. Over at STO there are are least semi-regular posts from the devs and artists, and even regular State of the Game blogs from their Executive Producer. To that end we mods and the CMs have been discussing it, and while we can't divulge any details, it's on the radar.

Good stuff, I maintain that most of all requests for game improvement will happen by default if just one major thing is implemented.

    D&D fundamentals.

This would open up the game x10 and would cater to at least 50%+ of all in game requests ive viewed on the forums since CB.

Its the obvious answer and solution.

    Things that come to mind.

Daily Dungeon - I can't stand Dread Vault anymore, I play it every other day, why can't some epic dungeons count?

Pvp gear - I agree that making it bound removes some farmers from matches, but I have 20k glory and 130 Grym coins on my main, I wish I could pass it to my other toons, can't the pvp gear be account bound? Not character bound.

The option to summon multiple companions. Enough to fill an entire party. And then be able to run the entire game solo.

number one item for me, is this game is to expensive. every thing is over priced by a factor to 10. I just got my only character to 60, so many things I'll never do or get, just because of the real money price.
