I think there is a bug with these. They hit through Impossible to catch, soul forge proc and also hit when using your dodge ability. There is no way to avoid them. In pvp I got hit once by someone, 5 tene's proc for over 1000 each. Also it seems like the deflect and defense stats are useless against them as it ignores the resistance.
Is this intended? If so, it makes them insanely overpowered.
if they are working as intended, is there any point to slotting other enchantments? Seems like they are best in slot for anyone.

Some people go pure tenebrous, it costs money, and the returns are diminished if you get hurt since tenebrous is based on how much health you have. The permastealth rogue build uses several Greater Tenebrous but is very weak without it. I prefer going with a constant damage build instead of a build that gets weaker as it is hurt.
Where you stealthed and had ITC active?
A TR is only immune if he or she is stealthed and has ITC active.
Every class has advantages and disadvantages. Learn the disadvantages of you class to overcome them. Learn the advantages of your class and the disadvatages of other classes to use them in pvp to win.
There is no point to whine for nerfs because you win some and loose some. Crying just makes a player look like a crier and no one, especially the devs, should take them seriously. Have a nice day!:)
tene do damege when you get hitted, they dont' care if you recive 1 of 1000 of damage, when you get hitted you get the tenebrous atk and you suffer the full damage from them. In the end, that ench are way to powerfull, but was the only reason why people open the nigthmare lockbox, Pw get money, so the ench work as a money maker . The only 1 to avoind enc tene damage, is one shot that guy xD
Tene hit me through stealth+ItC. So that might be a bug.
I prefer the constant damage as well. That said, highest damaging opponents in pvp are running tenes. There is no way to avoid the damage, makes defensive encounters worthless.

They are. They're so brokenly powerful that the only real options for building your character are to use tenebrous or be inferior. That goes for both PvE and PvP, it's just that the PvP players caught on to how OP they were quicker.
I just consider myself lucky enough to have invested in them before they became outrageously expensive.

Hmm didnt realize it. Keep in mind they are already 'nerfed'. The boxes dont drop anymore. Soon they will be rarer and rarer.
But, it should be a given that they DONT go through any of these defenses, because certainly the 'hit' that would proc them didnt. That fix would go a long way to balancing out the OP factor, and make the decision of do i use or dont (assuming money doesnt matter) a real won.
they also don't do more damage when you reduce persons def into negative and they don't buff from % damage buffs don't think its bug just think its flat damage bit like arcaine damage in 3.5 or so just flat amount . if % damage effected them it would make them more powerful for a lot ppl. and rank 10s do a lot more dps pvp just like ignoring soul once every 20 sec
lol I wouldn't say removing them from the boxes is nerfing them. It just makes the ones who have it (top pvper's) even more powerful because of the huge barrier to get on their level. The thing with them is there is no counter. Kinda stinks because the top pvpers are using them and hard to know who is better when you just get demolished by them. I have noticed more and more groups leaving when they realize the other team is using them.

IMO Tenebrous is bugged.
Some argue that its "necrotic" damage or "arcane" damage that is why it pierces immunity.
Then tell me why Lifedrinker, Bloodtheft and Elven Fury Boon don't hit through immunity? They are necrotic and arcane damage too.
Besides, a large number of CW spells are Arcane damage too.
