Hi just made this new quest (the price of heroism) and on the surface everything looks fine. Even though I was able to complete it just fine on my own though it was quite difficult in the foundry. However I want to make sure everything is just right before trying to make it a daily and moving on with the campaign so I'm hoping to get at least 20 helpful reviews from players with mid to high lv characters because my player is still low lv ( though low lv ones are still appreciated) and from players who have differing graphics settings and computer ages( I'm worried about smoke and fire lagging things up and ruining the show:() any help I could get with evaluating and possibly improving this quest while I begin the next stage of the campaign i would be very grateful for. as always anyone who wants may leave a quest name which they need tested/ reviewed in my in game mailbox Emrys or Athenril@erillian and i would be happy to look at it if i have time.
Hi Erillian, I just finished your quest. I enjoy exploration, so hunting around in the forest was good fun for me. I was able to solo it without any problems (lvl 60 TR). I scored it 4 stars, but if you make some improvements I'll be happy to run it again and revise my rating.
--The interactable entrance in the Tower District reads as "Press F to The forest awaits". I'd change the text box to say something like "travel to the forest", so the player sees "Press F to travel to the forest".
--The forest looks realistic, but is very quiet. Try adding ambient sound.
--When I first entered the village, the mobs shouted "Ther he is!". Add an "e" so it's "There he is!".
--The fx in the church worked just fine with my computer, which is two years old. The interior walls could use more details, though--symbols/runes/banners. Maybe add an urn for holy water in one corner, you get the idea.
--Saw some typos/misspellings. Priest's dialogue: "havent" needs an apostrophe. Villagers: change "controle" and "traped" to "control" and "trapped". Reaper: change "COMANDS" to "COMMANDS".
I'd appreciate it if you could give "Hive Mind" a run-through. Info is in my signature. Thanks.
The Green Zone (NW-DP66H66F6): Train at a top-secret Goblin military installation. Hive Mind (NW-DN9YKEVUS): Get inside a crashed alien ship to discover its purpose. Absolute Zero (NW-DOVUXHT8P): Activate a massive teleportation machine to pursue an evil mastermind.
I think this will shape up to be a good introduction to your campaign. I enjoyed hunting the Valindra's followers through the forest. The stone walkway under the arch as you enter town has some bad flicker on it. Raising it up a little so that it is not flush with the ground will fix this. Same for the stone walkway that you have placed where exiting the church. Also, I thought the smoke fx got a little heavy in the forest at the end making it hard to see what was going on. If you are going to insist on having the player walk through the burning house at the end in order to talk to Valindra's Reaper, then I would put some iron fencing around the courtyard. Seems I was bouncing off of invisible walls for a while trying to get to him before I figured out that I needed to go around. The story flow and interactions were all set up well. Good work.
Please try one of mine when you get a chance. I updated both today:
Quest is already solid, but could use a bit of love to push it even farther:
1. The village feels too small. Could you add more buildings, more ambiance to it?
2. As a player, I don't have very strong connection to what's going on. Who is supporting Valindra here? How do they know where I live, in the middle of a forest? Etc.
3. When you rescue the villagers and bring them to town, they just sort of stop. A lot of times, they get stuck.
4. When fighting the last group of reapers, in the forest, they just sort of disappeared on me at some point. I didn't kill all of them, they just disappeared.
5. Second round of fighting in the church has slightly too many enemies, making it an unusually difficult fight for the quest.
Things I really liked:
1. The effects of the burning forest and the burning church. Both really good.
2. Trying to find villagers in the smoky forest.
3. The delicate alignment of npc's right outside the church when you leave it. When you talk to the first one, and the camera zooms down to their perspective, it looks great. I would have that npc be the center of dialogue for every part of the quest from then on, because it's so well lined up.
As for a review trade, I'd love a review of The Siege of Ferrous Canyon. (Short code NW-DDY7N2CEJ) Thanks!
