Quick summary, the game is quickly becoming unbalanced and is really hurting PvP. Many signs of this. You see very very few divine clerics or guardian fighters because we do not scale the same way as the damage classes. usually only 1 of the classes per game.
Levels 10-59 were great, as a Divine Cleric I was able to stick with my group, and turn the tide of the battle, keeping people alive and only dieing occasionally when focused on. I had mostly green gear with regen, power and crit. I did this so much so that I was able to purchase the entire PvP set of gear upon reaching lv 60.
Now that I am in lv 60, I find that classes are able to 1 or 2 shot me on consistant basis. I have nearly 23,000 health, yet I see damage hits of 15,000-25,000 on regular basis. One crowd control ability and I am dead. No time to shift-direction out.
Heals are also not growing/scaling at the same rate as the damage. some of my best heals only barely hit 2500, and the regen abilities, great for pve, but pvp, the small 400-600 health per tick is nothing in comparison to 21,000 damage that I receive.
I completely feel that this game has progressed to the point where gear causes a major im-balance in the end game PvP. If left unchanged for long this will chase many players away prematurely...especially the healers. Not good for business.
Please give more thought to the growing damage on weapons. With only recent changes to the DC class being nerfs also, not sure what is going on. The game is pretty much only a PvE game after lv 60 for a DC.
Heres to hoping the devs will notice this growing problem and fix it soon. Liked this game up-until I turned lv 60.
Edit: received an all new high single damage attack, and for you forum trolls or people that only play dps classes and think it is working as entended, it was only one hit, no debuffs on me. 34,146 was a trickster rogue. Game is absolutely broken. Way to early for it to be so, not even a year old.
i really am new to the game and did pvp only for dailies, so i'm far from experienced, although whenever i do pvp with the cleric i feel a free kill for all. there is no damage mitigation that can stand against all this cc spamming. it's most of the time i see chains in my skill bar than actual skills i can use and also while sometimes i can still move even if afflicted by cc i cannot dodge out or anything, i can just slow move to a slow death. it is not fun at all. in i think i played 10 matches and i won only once probably due to the skills of my random team mate
Use GCTRL's cleric guides in the Cleric class forums (also in sticky), which can be used by fresh 60s as much as high endgame players, then come back here with your real complaints. This is an important caution for Clerics because they are the only class where the majority of PvE builds are almost useless in PvP and PvP builds make a significant difference.
Also, do not compare Clerics to Guardians in PvP. GFs can be (though very often are not in practice) the most powerful class in PvP when well played, ask any experienced pvp player. There are far more GF's these days than there have ever been and many more than Clerics too.
Clerics are by far the weakest 1v1 PvP class, and their healing is not suited to burst healing required in PvP. But they can be a strong nuisance when played well and supported by a group, or as a dps Cleric, they can be almost as lethal as a good CW if not focussed correctly.
An alternative is indeed not to PvP on a Cleric at all, if you are not willing to experiment or tire of the drastic/costly playstyle or build changes needed.
So, what you really should be complaining or questioning about is not large incoming damage, that is unavoidable in PvP, but either specific broken mechanics (which admittedly post-Feywild are many for the Cleric class), rebuilding to be viable in PvP when all other classes can basically use PvE builds, PvP scoring and matchmaking which is not favorable to DC at all, lack of duel spec, and the design decision of not letting Clerics be a pivot in PvP by having large self-healing or ally burst healing, unlike many other MMOs.
Personally, having played the Cleric since mid-beta, I eventually realised the constant (and ever increasing with each major patch) battle with the game was not worth it when I could be more significant in a group, more effective when solo (e.g. Foundry and dailies), progress more via Achievements, AND have more fun in full synergy with the current design of the game on other classes.
You got 18k Crit from Ice Knife in your face! But you still only lose 9k HP.
But it still stinks, that DR is so reduced in some cases...

Actually to the troll dante123pl, and also to the person that easily dismissed me above fondlez, this is a very serious post. I have more than just a divine cleric, this character is jsust an alt. My main is a guardian fighter and the same problems apply with the high end gear players, CW, TR, and GWF being able to hit for over 15k. It is game breaking. I have also played significant time as a control wizard although only just past lv 30. So do not mistake me for a complainer as this is not the case. There are issues with a game when damage of a single ability surpass a purple geared character of equal level entire health bar. With each weapon teir they create above the last makes it worse. Meanwhile our health bars do not grow significantly and the damage mitigation only slightly increases.
I too have been playing since before launch having taken part of the beta.
Dante, never understood why people waste their time as forum trolls, but whatever troll on. Fact still stands that epic geared lv 60 character is receiving damage in single hit over their full health bar. This is broken. and getting worse.

I tried to give you some advice, and I was going to again until I finished reading this post of yours.
My friend, I think you fail to realize a little thing called "debuffs".
I've hit 17k GS GF's on our server for well over 25k. Why? Because they had the HAMSTER debuffed out of them.
The next time you take a hit like this, take a screenshot so we can all look at your debuffs and laugh at you for being n00bish.
Guarantee you had Thaum debuffs/plaguefire and whatever else the GWF's do.
So no..its not game breaking, they just debuffed the HAMSTER out of you, and now you made a silly thread not having a clue what was actually happening and why...
Cheers!

Some of the clerics in our guild have great PVP specs. Most require 2-3 to take them down. They can hold points like champs and heal the heck out of everyone.

and here u got pwned once again luckyz28 , u seem to doesnt know a HAMSTER about the game and yet u still continue your river of QQ,now go do some reserach and then comeback to me and call me a troll again
High GS pvp is extremely brutal. Quick death for everyone (except TRs, it looks like stealth make them very survivable), strong damage for everyone, including clerics.
I use a dps cleric build in pvp. I only keep the shield for heals. I get a lot of complaints from team members because they expect DCs to heal them like bots and not challenging them for kills, but you can. I'm not saying DC is the best pvp class, but you can do some nice damage before getting one-shot by the tank or the TR.
But indeed, you're right if you mean that a 12k GS cleric or CW with more than 2k defence can be killed with one shot.

Lol it's not hard to heal people and survive if you're not chained cc and stunned to death. In gg I was standing up against like 5 people until a cw entangle then a gf did his juggle act knocking me out of as and killing me.
I'm obviously doing something wrong or these "pvp" spec dc's have high cc resist from who knows where. I still haven't found any gear or enchants that give resist.:(

I think part of the problem is that really only deflect and regen are viable defensive stats in pvp. Defense is practically useless as so many powers and enchants pretty much negate it. Certain classes have many more options available to them in terms of these stats than others.
My main is a 12k GWF with sentinel spec and full PvP Vigilant set. I use a lesser Plaguefire and not armor enchants, mainly due to the fact that I'm not rich enough to get a Greater Lightning and Thunderhead attachment yet.
At my current level, I have experienced the difficulty of fighting good DC's. There are only two classes in this game that I will literally avoid fighting until they are all that's left: DC's, and GF's. Their defenses make me work far too hard to get a kill, when I can use my extra tankiness to finish off weaker targets.
My worst enemy on the battlefield is a GF. Their knockbacks, knockdowns and lunge make them my personal nemesis.
But all of this comes down to watching players, again and again, who are good and bad. I can tell the difference by how they fight. When the DC stays in the mix when everyone else dies? When the GF starts trying to kill the CW's when I'm running right past for his weak links?
I can see who is better than me, as well. Some of it is attachments, but sometimes, I'm out played.
At where I stand, PvP looks very balanced. I'm not running the field, and I'm not the weak link. I need every class and every member on my team for their role, and we all know it.
But at the low gear range, level 60 pvp does NOT look balanced. It can't. Gear, enchants and attachments mean far too much when player skill is equal.
My suggestions to the op? Find the best DC or GF you can on your server, and join up with them. And get your gear up. Your views will almost assuredly change.

I agree: as a GWF, I try to only attack GFs from the back, and I'll turn away from a DC as soon as I see a CW or TR. The former are too hard to kill and the latter are too dangerous to leave alone. As soon as a good GF hits me, I'm done.

You forgot HP - more important than both those you listed. The combination is what can make GWF's so hard to kill.
Simply put Damage > Defense vs. Pugs, and Defense > Damage vs. high GS or premades.
Stacking defense is very viable for DC, ~50% DR is not out of reach. 23k HP is quite low also, you need to put a lot of points into Con and get HP on accessories. If we had change race tokens I would say Dwarf would be very nice as well, since they are the only race that has a chance to ignore CC.
Change race tokens please cryptic

Agreed with everything above.
And to the OP, YOU ARE NUTS! I am a fully offensive debuff Mage and I need EVERYTHING I have to take down a GF. Clerics will drop easy, but not if their team is with them or they use soulforge. You just suck so you want to nerf the damage classes more. It's hard enough to kill GFs. I have a 13k GS CW and I still have a REALLY hard time.

Many good DC's on Mindflayer I've hit for 2500 with my Lashing because of high Deflect
