In many ways, it seems to me, the first boss of PK is more challenging than the final boss from the CW's point of view. For the final boss everyone is aware of the importance of killing adds to prevent a wipe, but for the first boss, it seems many groups take a 'zerg the boss' approach and are content to leaving the adds to the CW to control. Even though the number of adds present at any given time is about the same, if not greater, than with the final boss. I plead with groups like this that I need DPS support in order to have effective add control, but these pleas are often ignored.
I do my best to get my Singularity into the air, to cast Steal Time and Icy Terrain and Conduit of Ice (on tab) to freeze them to the ground, and to kill them as fast as I can, but I can only do so much. Inevitably I get kicked by one of the Ruffians (or a Deathpledged charges me), my spell is interrupted, this happens a few times in a row and then the mob is out of control.
So CWs, how do you control this large volume of adds when there is no or minimal DPS support from the rest of your team?
I guess my real question is, if I as the CW am unable to control this level of adds by myself in an 'easy' T2 dungeon, is it because I haven't yet mastered my character or is it because my team is unreasonable for not offering DPS support?

I agree that with two CWs the adds can remain under control despite what the more DPS-oriented team members choose to do.
I'm referring mainly to the situation when there is only one CW. Sorry if I wasn't clear enough.
Then there's only so much you can do. EF on Tab is your biggest AP gainer, but even so you cannot keep up constant AS. GFs are great at taking aggro. Go in with a GF or another CW. Otherwise, don't run it.

It's just awkward. When I run it the fights pretty much consists of me blinking into (somewhat) empty space, orbing or dazing, blinking back to use icy terrain, entangle and try and build some more AP then steal time so I can hopefully throw up another daily.
The number of adds in the fight is just silly, easily overcaps the 15 target limit on AS (so oppressive force is often more useful). Before shield got it's AP gen nerfed, the fight was very easy with the AS/Shield pop combo, but it's now much harder if you use AS as you primary AOE daily.
TL;DR
Don't use Arcane Singularity in this fight, use Oppressive Force.
No need to use sing. Make sure the DC understands that you will pull adds far away from the boss and that he will have to keep astral shield on you. Then you can use oppressive force, steal time, icy terrain + something else. Zerging the boss is indeed the best strategy, but DCs are most of the time cluless, and will keep healing near the weakest mob of the fight, which is... the boss itself. Of course his aoe will kill you, and adds will just mess around and TRs won't be able to hit the boss, so, let them pull the boss away, keep adds on you with the DC, and it will be fine.
Don't know if it's an "exploit" but it seems kinda normal to me to just throw the mobs of the edge?
a gf can taunt the boss at the chest are and dps him there,or if your party is very bad and you want to continue, tell him to block after he taunts... (lame technique but it is required sometimes if your party is consisted of alvin and the chimpunks)
Well if the party is so bad that they have huge difficulty with first boss, then I just leave after a few attempts because if they can't do the first boss, they certainly can't do the last boss.
