Current state of the CW?

Hi my fellow CWs,

i took a rather large break from this game, and i'm wondering what changed about the CW during the last few months.
First thing i noticed is that my shadow weaver set (spent countless hours to collect it) is now "trash" and HV is the way to go. Nice. Second thing i realized is that there probably was a huge shield nerf, it gives almost no AP, which screws the old omnipresent singularity spam rotation. After reading a bit into a few guides, i have a few questions left.

-Which tree has the least bugs atm? (Or are they still all bugged)?
-Is there a new "tree to go" or are they rather balanced?
-Whats the new "flavor of the month" after singularity spam seems to be less popular? (Saw that many guys suggest opressing force)
-Which skills are usefull right now (considering the shield nerf)? I see alot of ppl talking about Shard, which was said to be horrible when i left.
-Is there anything you need to know to play the CW efficient right now (compared to 3 or 4 months ago)?

Thank you for your answers :)

Essentially the patch has forced people to look beyond using 2 skills to the exclusion of all others. Personally I've found it refreshing since there are now several viable builds, with a toss up between Shard and Sudden Storm as a replacement for Shield.

Both are more unwieldy to use than just popping a shield burst but both do generate a lot of AP (and cause a lot of damage) when done right. I've gone for sudden storm and I'm very happy with it. I just need to get the targets bunched up and immobilised first. Shard users seem to have a bit more flexibility because it has a larger AoE, but I find the aiming to be problematic. I've run with other CWs using Shard and they've been just as effective as me.

AS is still awesome, but people have come to appreciate OF more than they did I think - it's unlimited target effects etc. I tend to have both slotted.

Yes. It is rather gratifying to see a mass of orange damage scores. Lightning creating lightning :) It is making me consider getting some lifesteal...

CWs still are strong in PVP and necessary to completely (nearly) every DD. Still love playing mine, but I'm a wizard junkie, so there you go.

Same here. The only reason to stop playing my wizard would be a new caster class (preferably sorc).
Has the CW role inside of dungeons changed?
When i left, it was all about:

    a) chaincasting singularities
    b) use singularity and shield to throw mobs of cliffs

are boss tactics still the same they were 4 months ago (glitches aside)?

Well, I d say CWs are worse in PvP now. The reason is simple - more TRs now have Impact Shot sloted, and you know how it goes... 4x 2second stun, criting for nearly 14k each. Either you dodge first and all following impact shots or you re stunlocked and killed from distance. (parsed combat logs from PvP and Impactshot dealt like 40% of total damage dealt by all rogues)

OH indeed, the state of melee in PvP is sickening. CWs and clerics are just punchingbags for them to toss around as they please. I have over 29k hp but I cannot even damage GFs who toss me around until dead, I cannot do any permanent damage to GWFs who regen like trolls on speed and I cannot see rogues until its too late. I actually have a chance against rogues, rest of melee not so much if at all.

DEAR DEVS: create CW and DC testcharacters and go see how **** "fun" this creation of yours is.

Learning to combat cookie-cutter Executioner rogues is a learned skill, but doable. Made a little thread about it here.

this. its really bad game design. just really really bad. total lack of skill needed. i think pvp in this game is a awful, maybe the worst i have ever played but stuff like that and trs 2 shooting or just poping immunes and win is shocking. shows a total lack of understand by the devs. newsflash devs, rogues are meant to be a melee class. stunning horrorawful (thanx shaq!)

To be brutally honest with you:

We cannot have the upper hand against every class in the game, for example: Most DCs are served on a silver platter for us. Against GWFS and GFs if your positioning is good and you can see them coming from a mile away you can react to that before they get into melee range. By doing so you create room and then manage to CC them and burst them down. With GWFS it revolves around timed burst periods straight after unstoppable is up. With GFs all you need to do is use Icy Rays to root, Ray of frost to destroy block and freeze them, Followed by a choke and then Chill strike. Dodge as they rush. Rinse repeat.

Executioner Rogues are designed to be our counter. You cannot expect to be able to beat every class hands down 100% of the time.

Now in saying that, degraafination has a brilliant thread in combatting perma stealth / rogues in general. I would suggest reading it and practicing what he has posted up. It works.

CW is only strong when u are in a decent team/premade or the other team only have 1 rogue who is not max geared.
Overall cw is OK about in the middle of everything. Strong is not the word I would use though, and I believe most top PVPer should feel the same.

What I concern is that once the new range class is released CW might fall to a even worse place in PVP...
