PVP: Quit Penalty

clixjynxclixjynx Member Posts: 9 Arc User
Almost every match in PVP results in teams being unbalanced due to players quitting after dying two or three times, or the center point being captured. This ruins the PVP experience due to not being able to actually play a match that's even. By that I mean a 5 vs. 5, as apposed to 2-3 vs. 5. I suggest to put in a system that stops you from joining a PVP match for 15-20 minutes if you quit the match or disconnect from PVP. Yes, this would result in cases where a player disconnects unintentionally and has that restriction, however that will be far rarer than a person just quitting. I also suggest a debuff be added temporarily as well of -10% defense for those 15-20 minutes to discourage people from joining a PVP match and quitting simply because of being upset because their character was killed. I know this may seem harsh to some, however in other MMO's there are penalties for quitting PVP before its completed. This results in less people quitting PVP matches, which in turn results in a much more fun experience overall for everyone playing. Please implement this feature into the game. It would help so much for many players who actually want to enjoy the game's PVP feature, however can't because of other players quitting simply because their character was killed. Theres other MMO's that have a "kick" feature which results in the top ranked player being kicked out of matches for "hacking" even though that isn't true. This fact only further proves the unfair aspect of some people throwing fits, because of losing. There NEEDS to be something implemented into PVP that will help to solve this issue. Many would love to enjoy PVP (myself included) but can't because 4/5 matches result players on their team or the opposing team quitting right away, due to quick frustration.
(If this isnt the place for this post, I apologize. If you could direct me to the correct one, then I will post it there).

no thanks. quitting should be an option due to being grouped with terrible players.
i like to pvp lower levels and i start every match by explaining how to win to my teammates - essentially fighting on the cap points. i tell them up front i will leave if they dont play to win, and instead play Rambo. 50% of the time off they go chasing an enemy all over the map, hiding on the stairs or fighting 10 feet off the cap point while it remains in enemy hands. They will run off chasing for a kill while the point sits uncontested but owned by enemy. I give them two warnings.. and then i leave. I don;t mind losing at all if its a well played match, but I shouldn't have to suffer through a match for their stupidity.

The answer to your problem is pre-made team.

I'm with OP on this one. There needs to be some sort of penalty for asshats that like to drop group 5 minutes into the match. The "I should be allowed to be a HAMSTER with no penalty because I'm better than you" argument is not only lame, it's petty.

I believe the debuff in another game was called "Deserter" and it granted a debuff for 15 minutes and the inability to enter another pvp match for a set amount of time.

There is no right or wrong way how to play the game- but the constant quitting in pvp is tiresome.

Yea really needs to be done.

As for the naysayers: You know back when this penalty already existed (there was a bug that preventing you from getting in a new match if you quit one) no one complained they couldn't ditch a get a new match. Unintended or not, It worked to solve this issue.

It's simply extremely disrespectful to the other 5-9 players quitting a game, for ANY reason. You all signed up for the same reasons to pvp, to ditch out is quite plainly wasting other peoples time and selfish, and should not ever be condoned.

ps: a lesser penalty for disconnections could easily be implemented - the game already knows when it was shut down incorrectly or crashed (it asks you to verify files/logs bug logs). So it was improperly killed and the player did not return promptly (say 2 minutes), they could apply the full penalty, otherwise if it was a legit crash - apply none. The only purposeful way to end it without the game knowing then would be to hard disconnect your internet and wait for the game to timeout - someone a ton of the flakes that quit won't be nearly as likely to do.

The pve community is bad enough as it is, and now the pvp one has become just as bad due to bad mechanics. The devs almost seem to want us to hate each other with the changes they do.

If I remember correctly, the deserter buff, was applied to anybody that exited from the battlestation for any reason at all, and lasted 15 minutes. There was a further level to it, all players started with an 'honour' of 10, every time you joined the PVP queue, your honour was reduced by one, upon completing the battle, it was increased by 1. If your honour reached zero, you were blocked from joining pvp until you completed a remedial task such as clearing trash.

Other people shouldn't have to suffer for your stupidity.
If you quit, then the winners have to stand afk instead of winning against you.
You talk about premades - sad thing is people like you will quit even with a premade, as soon as they start losing bad enough.

I vote sore losers like you should get a deserter penalty when you ragequit a match, whatever the circumstances.

Your logic is very flawed. If a player choses to chase another player, and it happens to be somewhere out of a node's range, there is not 1, but 2 characters not involved in capping... You seem to be relying too much on your teammates, not being capable to stand ground on your own.

Calling other people stupid, and failing to realize the real problems... idk what to add.

I guarantee a large growth in new players.when all this will be ADD.

and if it doesn't? what are you guaranteeing with?

But on a whole. yes i agree with there being a penalty for leaving. it is not my team that i am worried about leaving... it's the enemy team, i rush their base, i fight them off it. they have 0 we have 100 points, then they quit. at which point if they all quit, we get no glory cause the other team were fail.

they should have a backfilling system, not only this, but they should also be booted from campfire (brought down to the fight) after they have stayed for long enough for the campfire buff to become active. 10 seconds?

also, we need to have better pvp matching, a rough pvp ladder system? or even (dare i say it) a GS system... (yes i know GS is the most ridiculous scoring system ever invented) at least i won't get put against a 6k TR on my 12k+ toons. Fair, no?

    to summarise:

    1) give them a debuff/cooldown if they quit
    2) give us a backfilling system if they rage quit (maybe just an option on the queue screen, would you like to join a current game?)
    3) kick people who cry at the campfire, from the campfire, into the fight
    4) give us a ranking system/GS system to determine who fights who.
