I've seen some people running around with dyed weapons, i know they are dyed since i can see it visually and it says on the weapon they are using "Has been dyed", however when i try to dye my weapon it says "Weapons cannot be dyed" can someone explain why?

Maybe you are seeing the effects of "Weapon Enchant" items?

No, they are clearly dyed.. i know what enchantments look like, enchantments have effects coming off them.. these weapons have a different color to them. Plus like i said it says "Has Been Dyed" on the weapons description.

It can be done, but it is not intended.

With it equipped (not sure if it can be done unequipped), open your character screen, choose the weapon (main hand or off-hand), select "change appearance". Then just put the dye you want in the box, or choose the dye from the drop down menu.

Not all weapons may be dye-able, I'm not sure.

I don't think this works anymore. I tried dyeing my sword and my shield, and I got an error message in red text saying that weapons cannot be dyed. Maybe they stealth patched it some time back.

I dyed my greatsword of the valiant dualist with the dye from the orc skirmish event.

I'm definitely hazy on the details, but I think it had something to do with opening the "change appearance" box by starting to dye another random item, and then switching out the item to be dyed with your weapon.

    You're right.

I just tried to dye my sword (one that has been previously dyed), and it gave me the same message. They must have changed it since the last event.

What was the purpose? Another one of those "fix something that wasn't broken" changes, imho.

It still works. Just a couple things. Just tried it, again.

The first part is that you have to do it from a fresh log in. Once you've messed with the appearance system it won't work. It will give you an error. So log in, open your character sheet. Open your inventory too. And rightclick the weapon, then select change appearance. The next trick is that you have to drag the dye to the slot. You can't use the menus.

Like I said, it works one time. Then you have to log all the way out to do it again. By the way, here is one of the original threads on it that also details how:

There were a couple others, but they got merged into that one I think.
