Sure, the
Fury of Feywild has brought a whole lot of new adventures our way. It'll be a while before I open up the whole expansion for my characters. And, yeah, the latest addition to the game also introduced plenty of bugs (especially for us Foundry Authors), some unwelcome nerfs (yup, my main is a Devoted Cleric), and a whole lot of flaming horses running about. Lots to talk about around here on the forums these days.
But on a completely different note, let me share a very different
Neverwinter experience.
Our family consists of Dad, Mom, and 3 college students. Everyone has crazy schedules that don't overlap very often. Lots of running about, weird work hours, etc. It's pretty rare that all 5 of us even get together to share a meal anymore, because we're never home at the same time.
But one wonderful weekend this summer, when we were all home, we had a brilliant idea. Let's play
Neverwinter together. Between a couple of desktops and everyone's laptops, we certainly had enough computers. And we were surprised when even Mom chose to get in on the action (she
never plays video games).
So we dragged everyone's machines into the same room, created new characters (hey, a pre-made balanced party of 5!), worked our way through the tutorial, and then began leveling up together. We plowed through lots of game content, did a couple of skirmishes, tried out some Foundry adventures, and even entered a PvP match (which was a disaster for us, but very funny).
At some point, Mom really got the hang of it, and was running fearlessly ahead of the group. When she got lost in one zone and began pulling every possible mob after her trying to find the rest of us, we were all laughing so hard my sides hurt.
These kinds of opportunities to be together as a family, especially as we enter the "empty nest" stage of life, are a rare treasure. So
thank you, Cryptic for giving our family this gift. I suspect we'll be talking about our adventures together in
Neverwinter around the Thanksgiving table for years to come...

Seriously? You're a "glass half empty" kind of person, eh?
You may have noticed in the original post (if you read and didn't skim) that I mentioned there are plenty of things to generate negative discussion these days. I'm not happy with Foundry bugs or Cleric nerfs introduced in the most recent patch. (And, frankly, I could rant about 'em both for a long time if I wanted. In fact, if you browse around a bit, you'll find me expressing discontent in other threads, but hopefully in a professional way.)
None of that diminishes the fun we had as a family, and I figured it would be good to post the story (and a pic of us having fun to boot!). Believe it or not, koboldsmell88, I actually don't need compensation to offer a compliment. You should try it sometime -- just being nice and encouraging without getting anything in return. It's a good thing. And it just might make the world a better place.

(Of course, if some Dev reads this and decides you wanna treat our family to 5 Knight of the Feywild packs so we could do it again as a bunch of unicorn-riding Moon Elves, you won't hear me complaining. Remember that bit about having 3 kids in college? Ha ha ha! Doesn't leave a lot of wiggle room for purchasing unicorns, I tell ya! Heck, we'd even do a live-stream so the world can be astonished by our in-game inadequacies and inside family jokes! Ha ha ha!)
Ow! The positivity! It burns!
Heheh, if foundry bugs and cleric nerfs was the only problems this game had, forums would sing musicals of joy compared to what it is like now.
If only that were the case in the league of legends forums. The toxic behavior in that games forums not only blots out the positive posts, it also blots out the sun.

Ha ha ha!
The post was a good read about a family being able to sit down and have fun playing an online game together. I wish I was able to do the same with my family, but sadly my mom thinks playing online games are a waste of time. You have to learn to disregard the troll like behavior some players exhibit.

Which are the forums for currently the largest comepetative game and one of the most played on a daily basis. Clearly forums arent an accurate source to draw from when judging the state of a game or it's community.
Of course not, but man those forum going trolls sure like to talk a lot of HAMSTER. Also, you know you have a pretty bad forum community when there are tons of articles written about how bad the toxic behavior has gotten.

Great story!
That was a lovely post sc00t. Thanks
Dont worry NWO forum isnt to far behind LoL forum.
At the end of the day, though, Neverwinter is a very fun game. My kids are slightly too young to play, but I am having a great time playing with friends.
