Choice of rewards in DD

Reading the patch notes that made the DD itens BoP, it says "Epic Dungeons now offer a choice of rewards. When the dungeon event is running and a player would get an item from an item set, the player is now presented with a choice of items of that slot, so he or she can select the desired stat allocation"

I ran 2 Epic DD after the 22nd (Frozen Heart and Karrundax) and in both cases I was given a HAMSTER T1 belt and I had no way to change it to a different set (another HAMSTER T1 belt or so).

Can I change the reward only if I get a T2 gear? What should I do to change it? Am I presented with 3 options?

    You only get to pick the reward if it is a T1 or T2 set piece. If you get a belt, neck, or ring you are stuck with it.
