Neverwinter Season 1 Mindlfayer PVP - 2v2 Arena Deathmatch

What is it?

We are hosting a 2v2 deathmatch PVP Season that will range anywhere from a month to three months (depending on team sizes and the tournament etc. We hope this is the first of many PVP seasons. We chose 2v2 because it brings more diversity to the matches than a 3v3 would (TR/GWF/GF?). As always this is a new endeavor and we are learning as we go! So feedback is much appreciated!

Registration will be open for an additional two weeks AFTER the expansion patch. If we continue to get more entrees with can extend the registration if NECESSARY.

Team Requirements:
Teams must be made up of 2 players of DIFFERENT classes. You cannot double up on a class. Self Explanatory. This means NO double TRs, no double GWFs you get the point. Aside from that, we encourage you to try and find the most "broken" combos, builds, specs for this event!

Each Team will "Buy In" at 100k entry fee per team. We have made an alt character on its own account specifically for this event, he will post potions/kits on the AH that each team will buy. Once your teams Buy In has been received we will officially add you to the roster. We are using this character to pool the BuyIns and donations who will then purchase the rewards for placing. These will all be enchants. This will enable us to give more for prizes as we wont have TWO haircuts from the AH.

This not only fattens up the prize pool from sponsors, it also enables us to give decent rewards to winning teams, it also will keep players motivated to continue to play deeper into the season.

Note: There are NO "bench/backup" players on a team. Since there is only two players, it should not be hard to get two players online at one time.

How Will The Season Work?

The Season is more of a "Round Robin" style meaning EVERY team will have the ability to play every other team. If we have 50 teams, there will be a potential of 49 total matches of the season.

Each week we will post a NEW THREAD showing the current matchups. The first TEN (depends on the number of participants) matches for EACH team will be posted and we STRONGLY encourage players to post times they will be online that week and also to KEEP ONE POST updated with those times per team. We do not need spamming here... So please be respectful so we can have people able to find who is going to be online and when.

It will then be up to each to to play ATLEAST half (5 in this case) of those matches during the week, in order to proceed with the season. Once a team has done their 5 matches, they can play the remaining 5 matches or can choose to wait until the next rounds are posted next week. Once that "round" is over, you will never replay a team and you cannot play a team you "missed" during a week prior. Each week you can only officially play out of the ten matches posted that week, none from previous weeks even if you never played that team.

If you cannot play five rounds (depends on the number of participants) that week with your partner, Then you can either drop out of the Tournament or choose to play matches 1v2. There are NO stand - Ins or backups. There are no exceptions to this rule.

Once the season is over, top 8 teams with the best records move onto the finals. If there is a tie in the record for the 8th spot, the tied teams will have a matchup to determine the 8th spot. The finals will be a double elimination tournament where the top 6 teams will get rewarded (depends on prize pool). We will also be giving away smaller rewards to those teams that accomplish fun things like the longest winning streak... We are compiling an official list here...

How will the matches work?

IDEALLY, four (2 person) teams will come together and create two "premade" groups. They will fill the last spot with either a volunteer (stand in) or an official Judge. A judge must be present at each match (if possible), and we will have scheduled times that "judges" will be online, to ensure honest matches AND to speed up these matches.

Example:

Teams: A, B, C, D are the competitors scheduled to all fight each other.

Teams A,C form a premade and invite an approved "judge" to their team making 5 players.

Teams B, D form a premade group and invite a "stand in" or another judge to their team making 5.

Once the two different 5 man teams are paired in a PVP match. Team A and B head to the center cap point on each map. Boundaries will be reviewed by the judge to the players, Teams C and D, along with the stand in and judge will always sit on the second level of the maps above the combat.

The Judge counts down and the combat starts between the two teams (A and B).

The "last team" standing wins the round. Best of 5 rounds win. Survivors from each round appropriately heal up with the two potions on the map, resume their places and wait for the opposing team to respawn and meet in the middle again the judge repeats the countdown and combat starts again.

The best of 5 rounds wins that match (whoever wins 3). If for some reason there is a tie, the round counts as a wash and is replayed. A Tie can ONLY happen if the last player on EACH time is killed at the same time due to registry issues. The Judge will make the FINAL call on if the situation constitutes as a tie or not.

Once the 5 matches have been played and there is a winner, Teams C and D then take the field with A and B sitting out. Repeat above steps until a winner is declared for that matchup.

Once done, you can again have a match between A and D and B versing C.

To enable even further matches, after those teams have played eachother, Teams A and B create a group and C and D create a group and then pair up in PVP again and you can have Team A and C fight along with B and D fight.

This gives a potential of 3 matches in a very short period of time. with minimal organization that can get you over half of your matches for the week. Do that twice and you could be done. If we have a small number of participants these numbers will be tweaked.

The results/recordings are uploaded and posted which will hopefully be updated continuously on the forums in this post.

IMPORTANT: If a single "round" takes longer than 5 minutes, it will be declared a wash. The teams take their places and will start the round over. 5 Minutes should be more than enough time to kill two players. This will prevent drawn out Sent GWF 1v1 battles that can last forever that im sure noone wants to see.

Tournament Prizes:
This will be dependent upon how many "sponsors" we have. I have donated 2 million AD to this event along with a few other large donors who have wished to rename nameless at this current time (you probably know them). If we get more the following will be the prize pool:

FIRST PLACE - Rank 9 Dark Enchant for each player
SECOND PLACE - Rank 9 Radiant Enchant for each player
THIRD PLACE - Rank 8 Dark for each
FORTH PLACE - Rank 8 Radiant for each
FIFTH PLACE - Rank 7 Dark for each
SIXTH PLACE - Rank 7 Radiant for each

If we do not get much interest, the prize tables will shift DOWN one notch meaning first place will get Rank 9 Radiants, second is rank 8 darks etc... This is currently hypothetical and we will announce the final prize pools when registration ends.

If players would like a DIFFERENT version of the enchant, they can trade for lesser or equal value... aka a Rank 9 radiant can be traded for a rank 9 azure but NOT a rank 9 dark since it costs more. If we do have any left over AD for some reason it will roll over to kick off season 2 or given out in the form of consolation prizes to teams 7 and 8.

Judges:
We will have official "judges" and also a list of volunteer "judges" (whoever wants to volunteer their time to record matches officially at specific times during the day).

Requirements for a Judge: A judge must have recording ability either via fraps OR live stream. Playoff matches WILL be live stream. Preliminary matches (regular season matches) can be fraps -> youtube -> linked to the forums for all to view.

Judges must not participate in any way, but only sit in approved areas of the maps (on second story of both maps). Judges WILL, however, be allowed to be on their own 2v2 team but cannot judge their own matches. Playoff Match disputes will be ruled on by ALL official judges as majority ruling. Any judge that is in a team disputing a call cannot rule on their own match decision.

Atleast 1 judge must be present and recording PER 2v2 match to record, if this is not possible, certain exceptions may be granted.

As the Season progresses, we will post updated "records" on the forums so people can keep track of who has the best records along with the future round brackets.

Are people not interested or just taking a break until expansion?

This type of event would have blown up a month ago and would have 15 pages by now...

Only three teams have signed up so... its gonna be hard to say, regen sent got nerfed as well (less deflect and less unstoppable OPness)

I think Lantis is right, TR+DC = OP...

Agreed. I expect to see TR+Cleric at finals.

Steam asked me 1st so we'll do our best to have every match end in a draw after 5 minute time limit. :D

2v2 with arbitrary restrictions seems not fun to me just like the 5v5 with arbitrary restrictions did not seem fun to me.

All I can speak for is me but thats why I feel that way.

    Gorath speaks the truth.

    5 Minute time limit. /LOL

Double Regen/Deflect team will take far more than 5 minutes to kill and each match will end in a draw. How many resets are you going to do?
