My biggest issue with this game? Enemies being stuck to me

Really, I do love this game a lot. I reall do. Even bought the Knights of Feywild pack just to show my support. However, there is one thing that really, really bugs me about this game: Enemies being stuck to me.

The worst part is I mean that quite literally. What I mean is that once an enemy has decided to attack, it's most impossible to escape it without killing it, or running so far into a friendly zone that the combies forces of the few peopple who cares (including NPCs) can kill it for me. (this is mostly if I can't kill it myself, for whatever reason.)

Take wolves, for instance. As a GWF, I can use Sprint to run really fast for some time. You would think this would let me get enough distance from them to be safe, right? But... no. It doesn't matter if I run for one second or ten seconds. It doesn't matter if I run at warp speed 9. Half a second after I stop running, the wolves catches up to me. It doesn't matter if they run at the same speed as me, or if they are just a small speck in the distance by the time I stop running. They will always be right next to me less than one second later. It's ridiculous.

The same goes for attacking enemies, strangely. I can sneak around quietly, making absolutely sure I'm not seen and see an enemy in the distance. Then the instant I let go off the arrow, the enemy attacks. How could he hear me letting go off the arrow from 100 meters away? And how did it know I was aiming it him, when he has his back to me? But if the arrow accidentally hits him, he's right next to me half a second later. Again, even if he's 100 meters away. (for you Americans out there, the current world record in 100 meter spring is just under 10 seconds.) How is this even possible?

But going back to the wolves, the worst is by far when I don't even bother sprint. Then the wolves run faster than me backward than I run forwards. There have been plenty of times where they are obviously a lot faster than me, yet they seem to hit an invisible wall that prevents them from running in front of me.

Now add the fact that running into a friendly zone usually don't matter. Ten NPC guards blocking the lone wolf from me? No worries, the wolf will charge past them without a problem, as they usually don't even care.

True, gameplay-wise, this isn't a huge deal. The enemies don't physically block me, and when I do run into a friendly area, the guards usually do join in on the fight from time to time. They don't do much damage, but at least they can distract the enemy for a while. I just think this really annoying from a player-perspective. I want to submerse myself into the game and accept the realism it goes for, but stuff like this is breaking that realism. An orc or wolf going at warp speed 9 in a fantasy game is so wrong, no matter how you put it.

If that's your biggest issue then you have not been paying attention.

I've been thinking how nice it would be if we could outrun enemies occasionally and / or actually be able to sneak past them by hiding behind obstacles out of their line of sight until they pass by (I've tried this, it doesn't work). It's not a huge issue, yeah, but it would be a little more realistic if it were possible to be sneaky like that with some skill and luck.

LMAO. That one really made me chuckle. For the OP.... Don't run unless you are mounted. You will take much more damage with your back turned and you have to cover a lot of distance to get away. Most of the fights are pretty easy in this game and running only make them harder because you will probably agro even more mobs during your flight from combat.

The thing with the wolves is, they have a really good sense of smell. ;)

I don't have a problem running away from mobs. Just keep spamming your mount key until it works then carry on wherever you're going.

Not sure what you mean when you're talking about arrows.

lol all you have to do is sprint a few feet away and they stop attacking you.

buy a 110% horse, you can run right into them and they don't attack.

seriously if this is your biggest issue with the game then might as well quit now.

I thought this was going to be about certain enemy types that teleport SO close they are literally on top of you, forcing you to look down at the ground to target them... lol

seems the OP's problem is not related to getting damaged but immersion into the world....and certainly the way things work now are not right
...and spamming the mount key until it works, while helpful in getting away, again is not helping the immersion part...

Try that in Icespire with the goblins, the dwarven guards will attack the goblin hordes without hesitation. So yes, these is some significant inconsistency here - probably to avoid players using the NPC's to kill everything.

That being said, there is also some inconsistency in terms of monster tethering. It varies by encounter area, and some (such as Hotenow) seem to be easier to run away from monsters. In Vellosk they seem to have a very long tether before they spring back. In most cases, if you're mounted you can get away. If you're not, you may as well turn and fight.

Where's the realism in being able to outrun a wolf? I'm surprised you're not complaining about how the wolves or orcs choices of skippy attire offends you.
