my team was losing. As usual, people started to quit. We were left 2vs5. Tried a couple of fights, got swarmed. Then a guy from the other team asks for 1v1. Better than being swarmed. As soon as i spawn, i go down to duel. I get swarmed. Ok, could be a misunderstanding, right? No. As soon as i spawn, one of the rogues is up in our spawn point. We fight 1v1, he's losing (badly). The CW of their team jumps in (or, to be honest, up, in our spawn) and pushes me down the spawn. I get swarmed. Then i spawn only to find out that the CW is now camping behind our camp fire, pushing us down as soon as we spawn. 2v5, we just keep getting pushed down and swarmed. I was very tempted to just leave the Group and quit that sh1tfest. But still tried to fight. Even if it was quite pointless.
Now, the point is:
yes, i know. They are little HAMSTER or a bunch of spoiled brats (guy who asked for a duel excluded), or both. But, the issue is that they should not be allowed to jump on the spawn point of the other team. Or attack the other team in their spawn point. More of all, they should not be allowed to push enemies down the spawn to get swarmed.
I mean, it's a big fat exploit, how much does it take to figure it out and solve the problem? It's just about fixing the PvP maps. I guess they already got reports about spawn camping. Time to do something guys? What do you think? PvP is already messed up with OP builds/ enchants, quitters and spawn campers, does it really need such exploits to get ruined even more? Fix it.
Also, some smart ideas to balance PvP:
people will Always quit. You can't fix it. You can't fix their heads. So, what could be done? One thing could be the old, good, team scrambling.
First, you make 2 different PvP arenas: 1 for guilds, and 1 for pugs, as already suggested by other players. In the pug arena, if one team is winning, let's say, for more than 100 points, you get a automatic scramble that aims to balance the teams. If people quit, then you could do something like this (some ideas):
- If it's 3vs5, just move 1 guy from one team to the other. If it's 2v5, you move 1 guy to the other team, and then the team with less players gets a boost in movement speed and can take the point faster.
Those methods are already used in other multiplayer games, and are not that hard to figure out.
I agree 100% with this. Spawn killing, however, is an issue common to every MMO I'm afraid. In some games GMs did something about it, like putting sentries (bots) that dealt lethal damage to any foe approaching the safe zone, but that could be easily exploited.
Simply making it a safe zone (like in town) would do, that way combat would be forbidden anywhere near the spawn, plus making it very high ground, not reachable by anyone, so no one can run for cover back to the spawn and no one can take advantage of that higher ground to attack the enemy below, or, in some cases, they could, just to cast them away from the spawn. That way combat in the spawn area could be remedied.
HINT:
Everything in this game is built so it ensures chaos reigns. Do you sincerely believe maps were not created the way they are for a reason? That pillars near the spawn were not intended to be so close allowing TRs to port from mid-air to the spawn? If they would seriously care about this issue, the pillar would be positioned further.
In response to the latter: what people do not realize is this game is meant for teamplay. One cannot survive alone here, not in a dungeon, not in PVP (if they do, they most likely got everything OPed - purchased for real money, or spent lifeless amount of hours on grinding, which is, yer, utterly HAMSTER).
<offtopic>I've heard stories of tanks being so OPed coz they bought everything and could solo an Epic dungeon. Is that normal? I sure say no. Now fight someone who can take out Hrimnir with all of his minions alone in PVP.</offtopic>
There are plenty of ways to win battles and enjoy the game, but many are so lame they don't want to spend 5$ on a microphone, but they sure spend 60$ on a lesser founder pack.

I was spawn camped twice yesterday tried to offer them tea but it didn't seem to work. Nothing you can do about it so just stay and wait for game to finish or leave....really no way to change it right now unless they fix it so live with it. It sucks though to be sure and when I am on a team that is doing it I don't participate

There are Dailies that are needed to be done. And thats actualy classified as griefing. I meet people like this from time to time in PvP, they do not learn, ever. The only fool proof way is to make campfire a real safe zone with no combat in it. At least one problem in PvP would be dealt with - spawn camping.
A zone, around campfire(about 5-6 horse lengths in diameter), giving friendly team a 300% boost to every stat for 3 seconds. As long as player stays in the zone boost constantly refreshes.

Why not just enable people to drop in via queue mid game? That way you can still keep all the rivalries you've built up during the match alive till the very end.
in case everyone forgot they already attempted to fix this. there was an entire patch made with changes to the pvp starting area intended to stop pvp spawn camping. the problem is they did as good a job at stopping it as they did at stopping people from GG fast runs, and both are still going on.
I don't really see anything wrong with spawn camping 2vs5. The problem is that the game got to 2vs5 because of how easy it is to leave. Your GW2 model to solve the problem seems fine to me; either that or a penalty for leaving.
As it is now I can't see why you would stay if 3 of your team leave. The game's rules encourage/promote leaving as the correct playstyle. There is no penalty and you can just requeue straight away.
Why did you stay btw? The only reason I can see for staying is that you want the AD reward for the daily and can't be bothered going through requeuing for a new game (which could well end up in the same state as the game you left anyway).

Was playing today as TR.. 5v5 turned into 5v2 after 3 minutes in. I continued to kill the mages and they couldn't catch me for some reason. Soon enough it was 4v2, 3v2, 2v2, then after 1v2 and I won.
A zone, around campfire(about 5-6 horse lengths in diameter), giving friendly team a 300% boost to every stat for 3 seconds. As long as player stays in the zone boost constantly refreshes.

The problem was that yould not fight them. We could kill them even without buff. But while we were fighting in the battleground, their cw positioned himself behind the campfire and started pushing us down the spawn as soon as we spawned.
I don't know for the other guy, but i did not leave cause i just don't like people who quit, people who stop fighting, and obviously sh1tbags that exploit the possibility to reach the enemy spawn like that. Next time if this happens again, i'll probably leave them play alone and quit, cause that's not a faight. But a fix would be much much better.

I don't like quiters/afkers either, but this is the game's mechanic- leave pvp with no consequence and no rebalancing system; as long as that's there enjoy the 2vs5's etc or just leave yourself. I don't see how stopping spawn camping in a game that has gone to 2vs5 makes the game any better-as the game has already been destroyed by the HAMSTER that left you. Seems like your angst is directed at the wrong target imo.

agreed, why is this such a big deal? You join pvp to pvp, if you are going to just sit in your campfire then leave like everyone else... I think you should be thrown out of camp after ~30 seconds. But before that can happen we need a penalty for leaving, and before that can happen we need GS/rank matching.
With a matching system and a penalty for leaving it will cut leavers by 90% IMO. And then we can have a toss out of spawn on the off chance that a whole team wants to just sit there and waste the other teams time =P

1) everyone else quits - whats the fun in that

I could see if you get penalized FOR leaving and therefore were stuck being killed... but your not...
Either leave or just take it, or heck run around for all i care... But dont whine on the forums that you lost or your team left and you WANTED to stick around IN YOUR SPAWN but then get mad when you die...
Know what happens when you go AFK in an FPS? they spawn camp you till they get bored... Just be glad ther is no punishment for leaving and no punishment for dying 99999999999999times
