My First Try

Ok, so I'm very new at this foundry stuff, but I have created my very first quest. My guild mates have started running it but, being guild mates, they don't give very constructive feedback. I'm asking here for people to run it if you have time, it takes about 25 min to run through it, and let me know what you think, what should be changed, added or taken away.

Quest name - The Undiscovered Crypt
Short Code - NW-DHRQMLX9M

Any and all feedback is appreciated!

Thanks in advance!!

I enjoyed your quest quite a bit. I like the fights and the layout of the crypt. I think the only critique I really have is that the crypt is VERY large, a lot of running between the halls after the boss fight, maybe a teleport from the boss room back to main room? I enjoyed the story too.

I'd appreciate it if you would try my quest as well, The Missing Unseen. NW-DLW8SB9CN

I look forward to your next quest.

Thanks for the feedback. I will run your quest tonight and let you know what I think.

I did think about teleporters while creating the crypt but I omitted them because I was worried it would make it too short. I'm shooting for that 15min limit so it can be a daily foundry. Plus, at the time, I wasn't real sure how to create them. I know now and will put some in and see what it does for the length.

Ran your foundry. Great job!! I totally loved the boss fight at the end....it's one of the most realistic boss fights in any foundry I've run so far. In fact, with your permission, I may borrow that kind of thing for my next quest!!

Thank you very much!! I read your mail and after running it again myself, I totally agree. Will work on adding more details so it doesn't seem so bland in areas. I'm learning the Foundry as I go as well and see things that I could have done better. Basically, I made a map that's just for me and just for testing things out and it has really helped me figure out how things work together.

    Please keep the feedback coming!!

I'll trade you a review. :) My quest is in my signature.

    Played and reviewed it.

Good first foundry. Solid core for a combat run.

I suggest maybe putting some teleporters in, a bit too much running back.(like from east wing back) Also adding more details and customization never hurts. :) End of quest -> rename the horse.
Assassination Contract NW-DOD6JMS5H - story + combat. Trading reviews.
I'm improving my quest on an almost daily basis - so if you come back to it after a week or so, it won't be quite the same!

@firekatt, I'm glad you enjoyed my quest and feel free to use any ideas you liked. That was my first quest and a big learning experience in terms of fitting everything together. It took several revisions to get to the point its at. If you have any questions about how I worked out the boss just ask me.

@sarlacc1979 I do have a question. I think I can figure out how to make multiple bosses spawn, I believe that's by adding a couple more objectives and then making them visible once the prior is done. The thing I'm wondering is how you made the next one spawn where the old one died? This is what happened if I remember right. The boss moved around as I fought it, then the new one spawned where the old one died.

To everyone else. I'm currently working on adding more details to the hallways as well as teleporters. My question with the teleporters is that I can't seem to find a way to keep them invisible until after you speak with the ghost npc. Any help there would be much appreciated.

I've been out of game for a bit, will run yours tomorrow when I have a little time with my lvl 60 TR.

Several ways to hide them, but remember that once uncovered they are there. Hiding them anew assumes the player moved on and will not interact with the new hide object.

They can be in a closet like space or other room not accessible because of a door or gate.
They can be under a rock or other object.
In a hole that is covered until needed.
And so on. Not all of them are noisy, so there can be some Ah_Ha element to it.
If I remember your room right, you can place a crypt to the side with a lid on it. Remove the lid when the dialog is complete and point to the exposed teleport.

I had one person proof checking a quest and he reused the first portal instead of going to the second. The solution was to place the first one's exit 12 feet off the ground, thereby making it a one way ticket. So this goes to my statement that once they are shown, you have to figure someone may use it again in the future. The exit to your portal can use this feature also.

Extra Note: There is no interactive text to apply on a teleport. Best fix is to use a marker waypoint to steer the player to it, then utilize the Text option on the marker to say Use The Dang Portal once they reach that area and are staring at the blinky.

I will run this quest now. Be sure to check out my first Foundry in my signature. :)

I ran this quest. And I agree, it needs teleporters. Don't worry, it is already a 35 min quest.

-Typo in the starting conversation - "No record"
-How about renaming 'Archaeological Camp' to 'The Archaeological Site'?
-No music in the first map ie the camp outside the crypt
-"Arissen" typo in the last guardian conversation
-Rename 'Horse 15'. Poor chap is sad that he is just a number. :P

Ok, thanks for all the very helpful feedback. Made some changes based on the feedback I've gotten.

*Changed a few encounters to eliminate some stacking and make some areas a tiny bit easier.
*Added teleporters to the ends of the East and West wings to save players from having to run back through empty halls
*Changed Guardian dialog to point to the new teleporters.
*Shortened a few of the hallways in the East and West wings.
*If it worked, added some ambient sounds to the camp as well as music.
*Figured out how to make zombie rotters climb out of the ground and added this to several encounters.

That's it so far, ran out of time to work on it. Will work on adding more details to hallways and rooms as I have time tomorrow.

Thank you for running it and for the PM. I have some time tonight and will get those issues fixed as they are all easy fixes. I especially didn't know about the East teleporter being high for a halfling as I usually test run with a human GF. You actually saved me a bit of time as I was planning on running the live version with my lvl 60 TR who's a halfling as well.

Again thank you, and please keep the feedback coming!! I've started taking notes on my next quest and have laid out the basics in the foundry. All this feedback here is extremely useful as I start that one.

Going to run it today. I have the day off so I'll have time to get caught up on reviews for those of you kind enough to have run mine!!

Edit: Just ran it...good quest. A little confusing trying to follow the storyline though. M<aybe change some of the teleporter texts to say where you're going? Other than that, lots of combat and fire!!! Love the burning the place down part!!!
