Funny thing is that for D&D 4th ed. there were 6 types of armor: cloth, leather, hide, chainmail, scalemail, and plate.
Paladin was the only class that started the game being able to wear plate.
Fighters had to take a feat in order to get up to plate because they started with scalemail.
...with the NPC once again cheating (like the NPC for the fireworks festival) and displaying the armor correctly, not with the ugly underwear showing like it does when our characters do.
