Yes, my wife and I have not grouped before and we did just fine. Composition of group doesn't matter.

    Queues were ~30min on Dragon.

    Good luck!

The scaling seems to work pretty well. Got into a group tonight. I was a poorly geared level 60 DC. The rest of the party consisted of 2 rogues and a CW ranging from 20 to 45. The Tank was level 6. Needless to say, I expected to be a dead Munkey.

Granted the tank had a hard time holding agro, that was to be expected. But no one died, including myself. And the rest of the party still managed to contribute decently to the fight.

All in all, for such a wide range in levels. Everything still ran pretty well. I never felt like the lower level players where dragging anything down. As a CO vet used to the rage and anger at having lower levels join alerts and being perceived dead weight. I have to say, Cryptic has really improved here. The run was no where near the disaster I was expecting. It actually went pretty well.

It's interesting to hear that it is well designed to accommodate a wide disparity in character level. Aside from the initial queue issues, the developers have done a pretty good job with this event then.

easy to get into and easy on random groups also, approx 10min wait on queue on Dragon.

Is the loot based on how well you did? Or is it randomised. I have not been able to figure it out.

When you say "how well you did" well means? No deaths, amount of dmg, amount of heals. Surely different class's will rank differently and do "weller" then others. I'm positive its pure randomness.

After all I never see an overall statistic there on the score thing-a-majigger (x)

The loot in the chest is random!
Not based of how the 'x' you do or dont....

    Yea. It's ultra easy.

A high geared lvl60 could easily solo it, if they allowed that.

No way to fail it: you die you respawn back at a camp a few feet away and can run back to the battle.

On the other end of the spectrum - it's insanely boring and way too easy for any decent geared lvl60s.

The mobs are just a pile of hitpoints that deal no real damage. I purposely agro'd the entire map and tanked it on my CW just fine with no heals.

its a really well done event. the waves are actually a bit slower than the normal skirmish and there are 3 chests to loot between waves. if you die just release and run back in. i saw a level 18 out dps 3 level 60s so scaling is very good and level doesnt matter.

keep in mind this skirmish is the lowest skirmish in the game and a test run of call to arms, im sure if they get to the higher level skirmishes like the black dragon that require tactics to beat you will feel "challenged"

Yea, Ill remember the folks who cry too easy on this one. When we one day see "Call to Arms: Battle for the Bridge"

Yea, admittedly, it is a bit easy. But that has always been Cryptic's style. Better to be easy and inclusive, then so frustratingly hard that no one plays it. This is, after all, only a fun diversion type event. I don't expect it was ever meant to be any kind of challenge.

Tried it on a level 11 gf (I was the highest level). By the end only my head wasn't red. The level 6 cleric's healing amounted to the odd astral seal. Taunting was pointless as my guard was broken in about 1 second followed a dirt nap. One shotted a lot. Not fun. Tried it on a 60 cleric, boring. Back to logging in to craft and invoke for me.

Blacklake is actually the lowest skirmish, if we're being picky...

I see it as a nice easy test run and it's only for the weekend so if you get bored with it... don't bother with it. It'll be gone in another day.

I have to give them credit for the level-less mobs, they do seem to be working nicely. It's kind of weird to be picking up level 16 and level 60 loot on a level 50 character but the NPC vendor doesn't mind it one bit. lol

And since I bankrupted myself of all gold by leveling professions, I'll take it.

A similar implementation exists with Champions Online's Alert system. It auto-sidekicks players to a given level. As long as a player has the basic stuff in their build, things go ok. The problem, IMO, is that they should have restricted it to level 10 and above - so all participants have their class ability, at the very least. A lot also depends upon which team member, if any, is of a low level. On teams where I never saw an astral seal or the cleric using divine mode, things were a bit tougher than those where I did notice those things.

A slightly higher minimum level requirement would also deter people from rolling new alts to just leech off higher level players in these events.

Yep. Been in there. Seen a few players who wanted the Alerts restricted to max level characters, though.. which didn't make sense because they were for gaining XP, which max level characters don't need and can't use.

I'm glad I'm not seeing max level players demanding it here, though it is a (small) possibility.

Well, I think max level is overkill, but if we're talking Champions Online, it should have been restricted to when you get all 3 of your super stats - level 15-ish.

Here, with some class abilities being extremely important, (like divine mode or stealth), can make or break a class in terms of performance. Not having them, (or even not having all 3 of your encounter slots), can severely hamper how a class functions.

I agree with that much. It's harder at lower levels and sometimes you become a liability to the PUG (Pick Up Group) you find yourself in.

What level would be best for Neverwinter's Call to Arms skirmishes?

Level 10. You have your class ability and, I think, at least 2 encounters and 1 passive slot.

That reminds me... does anyone have a good chart detailing what is unlocked as you progress in level?
