Someone brought this up about 1 month ago - it could use more discussion because the idea was pretty darn good.
I would think that this would only apply to level 60 matches because that is where the most imbalance is. It may be divided by Gear Score in a method that could go something like this:
The only problem I see with this idea is: Queue times may be longer because of the refined matchmaking process. As it is now, if 100 people are PvP'ing, they have that pool of players to be matched with. This system may divide those 100 people up into several Gear Score groups where they're with similar gear score players, reducing the amount of players available to play with them, thus making Queue times much longer.
Make it so people can choose which GS enemies they want to fight or be partnered with, or not to use this feature. Also if they decide to use this feature, lock out equipment from being swapped that can increase GS 1000 above the limit, but may unequip as much as he likes. Someone with 9k GS shouldn't be prevented from joining 12K GS games if he wished to. I think a better way to segregate GS, assuming players can't choose exact min and max, is in increments of 2000.
Any range
5,000-7,000
7000-9,000
9,000-11,000
11,000+

Yes, the system wouldn't work because there are many ways to manipulate your GS to be lower than your actual one, instead what we need is what every other PVP system has, player rankings/ELO/win % ratio that matches player of the same rankings among them. It's the simplest idea for a fair matchmaking system, and no one is mentioning it?

yeaa, it would be great that way because with my 7.5k GS I'm usually pwnd in 2 hits
Meh. Implement a system like they have already done in STO: Private Queues. For ALL queued content, not just PvP. That way, if you want to pug, you can take responsibility for the fact that you might end up with players with pretty hard core gear. But, you can also do your PvP by coordinating with guildmates, friends, or even on one of several PvP channels, where you can see and talk to everyone that will be in the match, find out their GS, make sure teams appear balanced, etc, before you start.
Then, like with lockboxes, if you go the route of random chance and actually do it as a pug, you shouldn't complain at all about the outcome because you went in KNOWING it was random and you have the alternative to balance it. However, right now, there is no alternative - challenge matches and private queues. PLEASE.

Any suggestions ?
Terrible idea, you even mention why it'd be a bad idea in your post so i don't know why you bothered posting. I enjoy queues not taking forever for me and that would essentially destroy pvp.

Not trying to be an A$$ or anything I really am wondering how lvl 60s even new 60s cant get a better gear score than that because at 60 I was able to kit out to 10.5 just by going to the AH and gearing up with what I made as I leveled up?

Some people spend AD on professions, try to farm their gear, or are not willing to spend alot of AD on something they can farm( and only purchase if it's cheap).
As fot the GS for PvP queues, I say no, it's more the overpowered enchants then GS related. Maybe just disable any and all enchants (not runestones though) for PvP.
This wouldn't work if it was only based on gs, if you have ancient weapons and perfect vorpal but nothing else equipped you will have like 3 or 4k gs but your damage will be same as a 10k+ gs characters. So for this to work they'd have to implement some kind of ranking system for weapons also.
Make it so you cannot change gear AFTER you Queue for a match. Simple.
Lol, I have 2 weapons: one with lightning to seek out rogues and one with vorpal, if there are no rogues in match. So you want to forbid me switch my weapons to maximize my efficiency?
just make bronze/silver/gold/? ranks
if someone with low GS can win from higher GS people.. why not?
if he can't he will be put back to a previous rank after losing xx matches
Also get stats tracking for kill/death/assist, caps, points, disconnects(punish if they happen too frequent)
This is dumb. Seperate queues wount make you better, even worse. How do you supposed to evolve in the game when you are going to play against the same people over and over again? And when you eventually get higher GS you will get pwned in the *** and start whining how imba some players/classes/spells are.
I think its time for you to grow up and start playing. I have 9.8k GS on my CW and I pwn people who are 12-13k GS. I dont see where is the problem here. Learn to play, learn from your mistakes and try to perform better. Rating/seperate queue systems wount save your **** *** from being pwned. It will be just in like LoL - in bronze divisions have way better players than in gold divisions. Explaining: some lower GS players are way better than most of the high gs players.

How about we add some new maps with different objectives such as capture the flag, increase group match sizes to say 10v10 in some of these new maps perhaps. Add a bit of variety. Lets add some actual incentive to play PvP too while we're at it before we increase queue times with GS tiers or rankings.

You get put into a queue with other people/teams with a similar score.
The score is determined by the same factors as your 'Gear Score'. I hope they take into account enchntments too though.
How do you increase your "Ranking Score"? By kills, matches won ?
If you start putting 7000gs with 9500gs someone is better geared.
11,000+ - someone could be 11,038 and the next 13k?
Also as people have said, you could just havea slightly fake GS anyway, to be lower than you are..
just to many varibles which is the same as it is now, so i don't see how it really helps?
Toons:
New: CW Level 60
GF = Level 60
DC = Level 60
TR = Level 60
Easiest way woudl be an ELO ranking dependent on individual and team wins:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elo_rating_system
similar to what they use in League Of Legends and chess.

5. equip your 12k GS gear
