After playing all 5 classes, I see them like this.
Guardian Fighter: Defensive Tank. Keeps enemy attention on him so the rest of his party isn't so hard pressed, but must depend on them for his own survival. Can also conduct attacks of opportunity on his current target(s).
Trickster Rogue: Single Target Damage Dealer. Works with the Guardian Fighter to take down hard to defeat foes.
Control Wizard: Long Range Crowd Contorl/Offensive Support. Slows down/debilitates or slays enemies at range.
Great Weapon Fighter: Close Quarters Crowd Control/Offensive Support. Slows down/debilitates enemies. Works with the Control Wizard to remove as many enemies from the battle as possible.
Devoted Cleric: Support. Either buffs up or heals his allies to keep them in the fight, or debuffs enemies to make them easier for his friends to take them down.
What do you think of this?
*sings* "I like Gammera! He's so neat!!! He is full of turtle meat!!!"
"Hah! You are doomed! You're only armed with that pathetic excuse for a musical instrument!!!" *the Savage Beast moments before Lonnehart the Bard used music to soothe him... then beat him to death with his Fat Lute*

It's when people don't do their roles properly that everything goes <font color="orange">HAMSTER</font>-up.
GF doesn't pull adds off - Party fails to adds
TR doesn't have enough DPS - Party fails to infinite adds
DC doesn't heal - Party fails to adds
CW doesn't keep some heat off party - Party fails to adds
GWF doesn't do something...ehh w/e
Apparently no one likes the Great Weapon Fighter, despite his ability (when coupled with the Control Wizard) to clear the board.

GF - single target/aoe dps with extra tank abilities
gwf - aoe/some single target and determination op
cw - aoe/push + get mobs in one place for gf to kill
dc - heals
tr - single target/daze debuffs
my gf normally comes off highest damage in every encounter with villains menace spam + all the enemies are on me (apart from boss if i dont want him) because of the threat coming from that damage so both dps + tank marks + kills i guess come off the OP GF so if you think that they should be tank fullstop then you have no idea
Comments
TR - Debuff / DPS
CW - CC / Range DPS
GWF - Off-Tank / DPS
DC - Support / Healer
GF & GWF - 5th wheel on the wagon
That's the way I see it .
TR - DPS
GWF - DPS
CW - CC / DPS
DC - Pure Heals
Catalina Erantzo - GWF 13.9K GS
<Future> Guild on Dragon - Legit Non Exploit Guild (We are always recruiting great players)

Notice a pattern?
