Please HELP! Love this game and can't get on to play. I keep getting to the Cryptic Logo and then the game stalls there for a bit and then crashes out. Gives me the following message: Fatal Error: Unable to initialize on-demand patching and connect to Patch Server: The connection was idle for too long.
How do I fix this?

Try disabling "On Demand Patching" in the Launcher Options.
I have this exact same problem. I was away for a week and when I came back on Saturday, I started getting this error. I have tried everything from rebooting my PC, restarting my network, reinstalling the game, disabling on-demand patching in the launcher, launching in safe mode, disabling firewall and virus scanning. All results in the same behavior.

I already attempted the disabling that option. Did nothing for me. I seriously don't want to reinstall the game, as a DSL user, it would take quite alot of time to download, and it seems it didn't help versh777 either.....

I am reading all of these Verizon blocking posts... I am using Verizon DSL. Is this the cause?

Downloaded a VPN. This was being caused by Verizon blocking your game. I am now able to log in and play. Why would Verizon be blocking you???
My brother started having this problem today and, on a whim, he installed some pending optional windows updates and it cleared it up. I also installed pending updates and then was able to play. I have Verizon Fios and my brother, I believe, has Time Warner. Not sure why it worked, but it worked...

Oddly it's a thing with this company's launcher. Turning on demand patching off for all of the games is a must. Not sure why no one has made this a default over there yet.
