GWF Flourish lunge tactic, exploit or not? [Video]

First accidently discovered it when flourishing off the mushrooms @ GG npc area, later figured it can be used as an escape or a cap method in PVP, been trying to nail the right angle.

Watch this Backcap attempt, no one even expects you to go up from that side when the game starts.

What do you think?

I think that team needs to pay attention to their point meter...

Pretty cool but I would have to say this should be fixed if no other class can do this then I would say its an unfair advantage ie exploit or unintended effect that was never intended in game...

Stupid, yes, done by a game-breaking class with completely OP spells, yes. But hardly an exploits. It's not like you jumped to areas you're not supposed to see. That's just very poor class balance design. My favourite moment is the very begining of the video: you really try to find every hole in the geometry. I guess your guild deserve the reputation it has. :p

Anyway, no way we get a balanced pvp without a mega nerf to the class.

after 10 minutes of experimentation i was able to get underneath protector's enclave with this, theres definately potential for nasty terrain abuse here.

Happened to me in a PvP mach. I used Flourish and went fling just like Superman. May be it can be exploited. Should be fixed. Report it in the bug section.

I have no idea how you even do that. My char won't lunge at a mob that is even barely outside the normal range of Flourish and just stand there and have the skill go on cooldown

jumping update: the tent on the AH platform is great for this, you can jump to/over just about any building you can see. try using mighty leap to get even greater "ups."

Yeah, I don't get which buttons you're pushing or what you're doing there exactly. Wish I did, I'd try it with mine. Looks very fun. My flourish just lunges. Don't know what a rogue would use to do it either. ;)

you use flourish right on the edge of a surface that would cause your character to be falling, even if it would be an extremely short fall. this can be either an upward angle, downward angle, or sometimes a flat surface, and each of them will give a different result. it seems likely that flourish's forward momentum is carried into the falling animation, and propels you forward at rocket speed!

keep in mind that the distance you flourish from your falling point also impacts your jump. being further away from the fall gives you a greater arc and longer air time, being closer propels you faster and typically further, but you gain almost no altitude.

Edit: i spent quite a bit of time trying to use this trick to get over the GG gates before the event actually starts. i eventually found a way to do it, but it turns out you can do the same thing just by using mighty leap ><

i respecced my gwf to tighten up my feat selections just now, and since any gwf build has 15 or more open power points, i tossed 3 of my leftovers into punishing charge. turns out this power is an order of magnitude better for launching than flourish, im getting sometimes twice the distance with punishing charge on the same jump vs flourish. i expect you could easily jump from the bridge in hotenow dom all the way to the enemy point, or even further.

Heh. This is awesome. I'd have to respec to get punishing charge. I suspect that I'd do it about four seconds before they decide, "Oh HELL NO. *NERF*"

Oh look, another "bug" Lantis and his exploiting guild "accidentally discovered." What a surprise.

But punishing charge is not practical in pvp, just saying :P

yeah, it's awful. you can power switch while its first charge is on cooldown though, if you were looking for a more reliable jump skill to start a match with or something. i think the best use for it is probobly terrain glitching in pve.
