Now it keeps trying to update and redownload the client on the original drive. I looked around for the settings files to off them and start fresh but it keeps doing it. Is there anything I can do to reset that? I have a smaller SSD that I only like to move a game or two I am playing at a time. Hope someone can help!
This is what I do when I have to move the game or reinstall.
1. Rename the original folder to anything.
2. Run the installer as if it's a brand new installation, but point it to the new folder that you want it to be in, and let it complete the installation of the launcher. This will set all of the configuration parameters for it to use the new folder.
3. Once the launcher starts downloading the game into the new location, cancel it.
4. Copy your game files into the new location from the original folder and restart the launcher. It will check your files and see that you don't need any updates.
Once I install an MMO, I keep backups like that. It's much faster to re-install it that way, since I'm only on a 3Mb DSL.
lsya's idea is probably easier than mine. When I installed NWN:Online I forgot to change the default from my nearly full C: drive to my plenty of room drive - so I moved the folder from C: to and then ran RegEdit and searched for, and replaced, every occurrence of
C:\Users\Public\Games\Cryptic Studios with \Users\Public\Games\Cryptic Studios
Necroing this old thread since I just needed to move the game to a new SSD drive and i didn't want to reinstall.
Use this at your own discretion!!
Depending on the OS you have the steps may be slightly different, however both windows (XP, Vista, Win7, Win8) and Mac OS support this feature. The process is simple and involves copying the content to the new location, then creating a symbolic link for the old entry point for the app "C:\Users\Public\Games\Cryptic Studios" or in my case the custom directory i used pointing to the new location.

The process uses NTFS Symbolic links http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NTFS_symbolic_link
Example for a windows system would look like this:
